ESPN Backs This Texas Longhorns Stud for a Breakout Season

ESPN Backs This Texas Longhorns Stud for a Breakout Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After his Texas Longhorns stampeded all the way to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff last season, it's only natural that Steve Sarkisian and Co. would face massive expectations entering 2025. Advertisement And while quarterback Arch Manning has been a household name effectively since birth given his family's status as SEC football's most famous dynasty, the experts at ESPN have set their eyes on a much sneakier offensive weapon to thrill sold-out crowds at the DKR this season. As Dave Wilson wrote for the Worldwide Leader, Manning himself concurred that a certain impact transfer from the Bay Area is poised to turn heads early and often in Austin. So, who is this mystery man? Well, if you saw him on the street, there's a 0% chance you'd miss all 6-foot-4 of the dynamic, sure-handed Cal transfer tight end Jack Endries. Endries transferred to Texas following the 2024 college football LeClaire-Imagn Images A less-than-heralded three-star recruit in the class of 2022 out of Danville, California, Endries was a prolific weapon for Justin Wilcox's Golden Bears last season as a sophomore, leading the team in both catches and receiving yards. But while the Berkeley boys did score a key win over age-old rivals Stanford in both programs' debut seasons in the ACC, Cal managed a paltry 6-7 record capped by a loss to UNLV in the LA Bowl. His stock having sufficiently risen, Endries leaped into the transfer portal and made the auspicious switch from Bear to Bevo. As Wilson wrote for ESPN: "[T]he former Golden Bears tight end signed with Texas in April and slides into a talented Longhorns offense... Manning singled out Endries, a former walk-on, as someone who could emerge as a household name by season's end as he solidifies a position of need after Gunnar Helm... developed into a fourth-round pick of the Tennessee Titans and Amari Niblack transferred to Texas A&M." Trinity Rodman wants Wimbledon announcers to stop talking about her dad

U.S. soccer star Trinity Rodman arrives to watch the fourth-round match between her boyfriend, Ben Shelton of the U.S., and Lorenzo Sonego of Italy on Monday at Wimbledon. (Kirsty Wigglesworth / Associated Press) U.S. soccer star Trinity Rodman is at Wimbledon. Her father is not. But that hasn't stopped his name — Dennis Rodman — from coming up during coverage of the prestigious tennis tournament, which she has been attending in support of her boyfriend, Ben Shelton. Advertisement On Monday, after Shelton defeated Italy's Lorenzo Sonego 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (1), 7-5 to advance to the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the first time, Rodman took to her Instagram Story to express her frustration about the matter. Read more: Trinity Rodman looking forward to being challenged by younger USWNT roster "For Ben's matches he has his family there as his support system, which includes his dad," wrote Rodman, who is often shown on the broadcast sitting in the stands with Shelton's parents and his sister, Emma. "my dads not even in MY life no need to bring him up during HIS matches when I don't even want him talked about during mine. It's him and his loved ones' moment. Thank you." Named the NWSL rookie of the year in 2021, Rodman helped the Washington Spirit win its first league championship the same season. She also has made a name for herself with the U.S. women's national team, scoring three goals during the squad's run to Olympic gold last year in Paris. Advertisement Rodman has made no secret of the fact that her father — a five-time NBA champion and basketball Hall of Famer — has not been a constant presence in her life. She spoke before the Olympics about his pattern of showing up occasionally — as he did for a 2021 NWSL playoff game — and then disappearing once again from her everyday life. Read more: 'I've gotten closure.' U.S. soccer's Trinity Rodman takes best from her father Dennis 'Like I've said before, I've gotten closure with it all,' Rodman said at the time. 'I know he's proud of me. I truly do. He has his own things to deal with, but at the end of the day, he's communicated to me that he knows I was going to be here, and that's all I need.' In December, Rodman spoke more about her complicated relationship with her father and the "anger" she often feels toward him. Advertisement "He's not a dad," Rodman said.
