But a death certificate obtained by TMZ now says the official cause was a combination of acute respiratory failure, pancreatic cancer and aspiration pneumonia.
Additional contributing causes included acute renal failure and acute tubular necrosis, indicating severe kidney damage.
Ronald died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and news of his passing has left the pop superstar — currently pregnant with her third child — heartbroken.
An insider told the Daily Mail: 'Robyn has had a very difficult relationship with her father over the years but his death has hit her like a ton of bricks.

'Being pregnant and dealing with ASAP's legal woes have been an emotional roller coaster for her the last few months, and to add to it all, her dad was getting sick, and it started to become too much.
'As much as you realize that something like this is occurring, it is still completely heartbreaking and that is where she is right now.'
Despite years of ups and downs, the source said the dad and daughter found peace in Ronald's final days.
'She has forgiven her father and, in death, they got back to a loving father and daughter relationship,' they added.
Rihanna was reportedly by her dad's side at the hospital when he died.
Her partner A$AP Rocky also rushed to be by her side after her father's passing.

Rihanna and Ronald's relationship was complex and often turbulent.
In 2009, she revealed the two hadn't spoken in over a year after he 'embarrassed' her while on tour.
She said at the time: 'He disrespected some people on the bus and I didn't like that, so I kind of just let him go back home.'
The pop icon also expressed disappointment after her dad gave media interviews in the wake of her assault by then-boyfriend Chris Brown.
'He kind of did something that was really upsetting. He turned his back on me and went to the media,' she said.
In 2019, the singer sued her father for using the Fenty name to promote his company.
But she dropped the lawsuit two years later, reportedly reaching a settlement.
Ronald, who battled addiction for years, was once kicked off Rihanna's tour bus in 2008 for drunken behaviour, and later booted from her Diamond Ball in 2014 after falling over drunk on the red carpet.
Despite these struggles, Rihanna supported him through a $58,000 rehab program in Malibu and even bought him a house in Barbados.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ronald revealed that Rihanna checked in on him daily and even sent him a ventilator after he tested positive for the virus.
'I thought I was going to die to be honest. I have to say, I love you so much, Robyn,' he told The Sun in 2020.
By 2022, the two were on better terms.
Ronald told Page Six he was 'ecstatic' to learn his daughter was expecting her first child with A$AP Rocky.
'I'm so happy that I jumped for joy. I'm still so excited,' he said.
'She's going to be a good mom.'
Ronald shared Rihanna, along with sons Rajad and Rorrey, with his ex-wife Monica Braithwaite.
He also had three other children — Kandy, Samantha, and Jamie — from previous relationships.

I was at Diddy's freak-offs. This is what happened

Sharay Hayes is 6ft 2, rippling with muscles and nicknamed 'The Punisher'. In 2015, working as an exotic dancer at the top of his game, he was described by the New York Post as giving Channing Tatum 'a run for his money'. The Punisher, whose Instagram profile is all abs, leather and chains, partied with some of America's most beautiful women, hunkiest men and biggest stars. He never thought that his glamorous lifestyle would lead him to a courtroom, in which jurors would be shown footage of him having sex with the R&B singer Cassie Ventura during the sex trafficking trial of Sean 'Diddy' Combs. On Wednesday, Combs was cleared of racketeering conspiracy, and two counts of sex trafficking. He was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He denied all charges. The mogul was accused of intimidating women, including Ventura, into participating in 'freak-offs'. A jury decided on Wednesday that this was not the case. The parties were days-long, drug-fuelled orgies with male escorts, in which participants rubbed baby oil on each other and had sex as Combs watched. Prosecution lawyers had previously claimed Combs was the 'leader of a criminal enterprise', who 'doesn't take no for an answer'. Combs's team had argued that he was simply into the swinging lifestyle. For Mr Hayes, his first entanglement with the music mogul and performer 'Diddy' began on the evening of Oct 14, 2012. That night, he received a call from a woman named 'Janet', asking for a male dancer to entertain her and some friends, he told The Telegraph. He packed up and travelled to the Trump International Hotel in midtown Manhattan for the 3am booking. But when a 'stunning woman' with an 'inviting smile' greeted him at the door of the suite in nothing but a bathrobe, he soon realised he was walking into an entirely different scenario. 'She immediately explained to me that she was not looking for a dance performance, that she wanted to set up this sexy scene where we would sit on couches adjacent from each other and put baby oil on in a sexy manner, and at some point her husband would come out and watch,' he said. She handed him $800 in cash – four times the fee he had quoted for a dance – and he agreed, he said. Mr Hayes has since said he would like to apologise to Ventura for his role in these nights, which she claimed she did not want to take part in. He says he was not aware of this. Ventura was just 19 when she first met the rapper and was quickly signed to his label, Bad Boy Records. She claims that he pressured her to sleep with other men, sometimes for days at a time, and was physically, financially and psychologically abusive to her. During the trial, the court heard testimony from the singer in which she claimed she had been pushed to her limits during the sessions, at one point blacking out and waking up in the shower, and also being forced to have sex while suffering from infections. The court was shown a video of the rapper beating her and dragging her by her hair in a hotel in 2016. She claimed that the CCTV clip was captured as she attempted to leave one of these sessions: 'Freak-offs became a job where there was no space to do anything else but to recover and just try to feel normal again.' Recounting the night he first met Ventura in 2012, Mr Hayes, 51, said after agreeing to take part, he was told to go into the bathroom and take off his clothes and come out nude or in a towel. The room was dimly lit with candles and the furniture was covered in sheets, which he now realises was to protect it from being damaged by baby oil. 'I was instructed to sit on one single chair that was kind of adjacent to a sofa, she positioned herself on the sofa, and then we began to do the baby oil... I would put it on myself, she's putting it on herself, we would put [it] on each other, and then there were sexual gestures of self pleasuring and stuff like that to try to set the mood,' he said. Eventually Combs, who he believed was Ventura's husband, and says he did not realise at the time was the A-list musician, came out completely nude, with a niqab covering his face, and sat in a chair around 12 to 15ft away. 'It was very strange, just the idea of understanding a partner would come in was already strange but, seeing his face completely covered, it threw me off,' he said. Combs would give them directions, Mr Hayes said, mainly based on the lighting and the positioning of their bodies, or if he wanted them to apply more baby oil. 'It was clear that this scene was based on his preference and something that he enjoyed,' he said. The 'scene' lasted around 25 to 35 minutes, when Combs left the room, Ventura followed. Five minutes later she returned and told him it had been 'perfect', and asked him if he would like to finish, he says. He declined, and she handed him an extra $1,200. A few months later, Ventura called him again and they carried out the same scenario with the baby oil, but this time had sex. He would see the couple around eight to 12 times over a two-and-a-half-year period, and would be paid between $1,200 to $2,000 each time. Each session would last for a minimum of four hours, he said, with the sexual activity lasting up to 45 minutes. Sometimes Combs would leave the room, Ventura would follow, and then they would return and Mr Hayes would be asked to resume. During one session, when Mr Hayes and Ventura were having intercourse on the bed, Combs 'slammed' a stack of hundred dollar bills down 'in approval', he said. '[Ventura] kind of looked at him... to gauge was he okay or whatever, and he just says, 'I'm fine. I like that s---, I'm enjoying this s---.'' Mr Hayes said he never saw Combs being aggressive towards Ventura, and she did not appear as though she was being forced to take part in the sexual acts. There were moments she appeared 'frustrated' and would sigh, but he said these were in response to Combs's directions, which could be as specific as telling her to move a candle slightly to the left. Mr Hayes said he did not discover who the celebrity couple were until around 15 months after their first encounter, when he saw a sign on the television at JW Marriott Essex House saying: 'Welcome Mr Sean Combs.' His final encounter with the couple took place in 2015 after an extended break. Mr Hayes explained he felt uncomfortable and was unable to perform sexually, and they did not call again. He has since written a self-help book on erectile dysfunction called In Search of Freezer Meat, which included an anonymised passage about the couple. Mr Hayes said he did not feel used, but felt 'special' that this high-profile couple had chosen him. 'Now in hindsight, I know I was one of many and it kind of killed that, burst that bubble, but in the moment I thought it was something to be honoured to be a part of,' he said. Testifying in court last month was a nerve-wracking experience, Mr Hayes said, adding that he was physically shaking when he took the stand. He avoided eye contact with Combs until the end of his testimony, when they nodded at each other as he left the courtroom. On Wednesday, Combs was accused, and found guilty of, transporting male escorts across state lines to engage in the 'freak-offs'. But he was cleared of the most serious charges. Initially, Mr Hayes was confused why he had been called to testify, as he did not witness physical abuse and did not travel across state lines for these encounters. But his role in the case became more apparent when the jury was played videos of 'freak-offs', which Mr Hayes said he was unaware had been filmed. 'I had no idea anything was possibly filmed, so it's a surprise to me to know that there is video footage,' he said, adding: 'It creates a degree of worry.'

Then, on June 26, 884 were made after an argument between Yasmin and Ben. The dispute began when Ben ended their relationship, saying he needed to 'take a step back'. And, on June 27, 131 came in after Helena and Harrison shared a kiss in the hideaway. According to Ofcom, viewers accuse the show of failing to intervene appropriately. The broadcasting regulator is currently assessing the complaints before deciding whether to launch a formal investigation. ITV has been contacted for comment. Fans previously called for Ben to be kicked off the show after his "misogynistic" behaviour was pointed out by the girls The islanders were given the infamous snog, marry or pie task on tonight's episode of the long-running ITV2 show. As part of the game, the Love Island contestants get to choose to snog the islander they are most attracted to. Seething Love Island fans slam 'vile' Ben and demand he's axed in public vote after explosive row with Yasmin They also chose which fellow co-stars would be the nicest in a potential marriage and they could get their own back by slamming a cream pie in the face of someone they have the hump with. After conducting each action, each player would give their reasoning behind their choice in front of everyone. Alima chose to slam her pie into the face of Ben, as she admitted that she did not like the way he treated women in the villa. She told him: "I've seen the way you move in the villa. Like the way you speak to women and about women." But she was not the only girl to do this as two other ladies chose to slam pies into his face. After doing the deed, Shakira remarked: "He still think he's in with a chance. I just thought I'd let the n****** know that he's no good at all." Whilst Megan Moore said: "The way he's been speaking to girls, I just don't like it. I don't think it's very respectful" Toni was going to slam her pie into the face of Ben, however she loudly declared that he "wasn't even worth it!" Despite Ben's previously brutal takedown of Yas when ending their couple partnership, she didn't choose to give him the pie in a surprising news. 6 Viewers previously begged producers to send Ben home Credit: ITV2 6 Meg slammed her co-star for the way he treated women in the villa Credit: ITV2 6 884 complaints were made after an argument between him and Yasmin Credit: Eroteme But right before her decision she did lick some of the cream off her dipped finger before flipping him the bird. Later on Aftersun - hosted by Maya Jama - even Olivia and Alex Bowen admitted they felt uncomfortable by the way he spoke to women. Many viewers took to X - formerly known as Twitter - as they begged producers to send Ben packing. They claimed that all of the girls have started to pick up on his 'misogynistic' behaviour. One fan noted: "See the way they're calling out Ben's misogyny and he's still there is crazy." "Meg is now clocking Ben's misogyny," stated a second user. While a third commented: "Alima is such an it girl. Love the way she clocked Ben in his misogyny." Someone else wrote: "Ben need to look in the mirror and ask himself why most of the girls think you're a n******." As a fifth fumed: "I actually need Ben out of my villa tomorrow. His mere presence p***** me off." The way he's been speaking to girls, I just don't like it. I don't think it's very respectful" Megan Moore An additional viewer exclaimed: "Ben is actually haunting that villa get him out immediatelyyyy." And a seventh added: "Mmmmmmmmm producers get Ben out NOWWWWWWWWW." Ben has previously gotten on both the wrong side of fans and the girls in the villa with some of his savage comments. In an argument with Yaz, he remarked: "No one rated you when you were in here let's say. You've only come out your shell because you're in a couple with me." Adding: "No man wants you in here."

Constantine Costi: the 10 funniest things I have ever seen (on the internet)

As one of the last of the analogue crossover generation, I am not a digital native. I use the internet like a boomer – constantly falling for AI deepfakes and scrolling through YouTube shorts. I keep my ringtone loud and struggle to understand most memes. So it may not surprise you to know that what I find most funny on the internet doesn't come from post-post ironic TikTok or Twitter accounts. It is literally just clips from the Muppets. Enjoy! Let's begin with some top-shelf Muppetry. This has every ingredient for a timeless Muppet clip: old-timey showbiz, Kermit trying his best to keep things together and a cracking interpretation of a classic song. I also love Kermit's little directing outfit and little megaphone. His directing style very much mirrors my own. Who doesn't love a dancing cow? A snippet of some early more avant-garde muppets. This is simple Muppet absurdity at its finest. Poor Gonzy – I feel his shame. This article includes content provided by Instagram. We ask for your permission before anything is loaded, as they may be using cookies and other technologies. To view this content, click 'Allow and continue'. Oscar the Grouch heckling a small dog – what more do you people want? Also, for the connoisseurs out there, isn't it interesting to see an orange Grouch? What's that about? This article includes content provided by Instagram. We ask for your permission before anything is loaded, as they may be using cookies and other technologies. To view this content, click 'Allow and continue'. Even in the early black-and-white days the Muppets knew what they were doing. They had a winning comedic recipe from the start, it worked, and the rest is history. I salute you, Muppets. Muppets go Greek. This is only cultural appropriation I'll stand for. And, in their defence, this is EXACTLY what Greece is like. Gonzo and Camilla is truly one the great love stories of modern times. He loves her so much. All men can learn from a love so true it crosses species borders. OK, so this is a bit off-ramp in my curation but I couldn't resist. 'Somebody had to do it!' Larry David calls off camera – he's not wrong. The subsequent backlash and apology are so, so good. As someone who directs opera for a living this isn't far from what most of my work looks like. In fact, I fear exposing one of the main influences for my craft. The fact that they kept the correct Italian is genius – I don't fully understand who the target market for this sketch is except me. The quality of musical performers in The Muppet Show was truly astounding. I am, of course, referring to Miss Piggy. So this isn't exactly funny; rather I find it incredibly moving. Gonzo is leaving The Muppet Show to start a new life. The Muppets give him a farewell singing My Way. No jokes. No gags. Just beautiful cinematography and a wonderful I'm hittin' the road outfit. God bless you, Gonzo – you are my life coach. Constantine Costi is an award-winning director and writer working across opera and film. His documentary The Golden Spurtle will be released in UK cinemas on 12 September and in Australia later this year
