Wearing this specific accessory might prevent men from dating women—and they don't even realize it: ‘No wonder I'm single'
Pearl jewelry often symbolizes beauty, class and sophistication. Now, for those exact views, single girls on TikTok are ditching the feminine pieces because they think wearing them is preventing them from meeting eligible bachelors.
To justify why today's generation of men don't know how to pursue women anymore, TikTok created the 'pearl earring theory,' which is that women who wear this type of accessory are viewed as intimidating, expensive or high-maintenance — qualities that might 'scare away' potential suitors.
Add pearls to the list of red flags men try to avoid in today's dating world.
One content creator named Morgan Mcguire (@morganmcguire) shared a video expressing her disappointment over this bizarre theory.
'Recently I've been realizing I'm chronically single…I just found out about 'pearl earring theory'…no wonder I'm single, I'm decked out in pearls, truly it's everywhere….I don't think I look intimidating,' she said as she showed off her love for the gemstone worn in jewelry and nail art form.
Her video garnered over 200,000 views — and she's not the only one annoyed at this excuse social media is giving men.
A quick search of the theory on TikTok and countless videos pop up with women claiming it's true.
In another video, a woman showed herself wearing the hard, glistening ear accessory with overlay text that read: 'Am I single by choice or is it because of the pearl earring theory?'
The hundreds of people in the comment section of this video either believed the theory or are skeptical of it.
'This explains everything.'
'it's true, ig. I have been wearing pearl earrings since highschool (11yrs old) and now I'm 27, always had a failed relationship.'
'Omygosh i thought the pearly theory was it would make you look pretty and fresh.'
'Nope. I used to wear pearl earrings so often and I even wore them on my wedding day lol.'
'Been wearing pearl earrings since I was a baby & inherited my grandma's and mum's pearl earrings & necklaces. Don't care about the theory. It's fam tradition.'
While pearls might make men run for the hills — red nails might keep 'em coming.
The 'red nail theory' is that men are attracted to women who sport red nail polish because it reminds them of their mother.
Weird.
'I've never been asked out on so many dates or complimented so much as I have in the past two or three weeks with these nails,' user Melisse Martineau said in a video.
'I've been asked out on five or six dates,' she continued in the clip. 'I don't know what it is but [the red nail theory] is real.'

Sheryl Lee Ralph wedding No. 2, 'Abbott' star renews vows in opulent ceremony
Sheryl Lee Ralph is reupping her wedding vows 20 years after tying the knot. The "Abbott Elementary" star, known for playing the firm-but-loving kindergarten teacher Barbara Howard on the ABC sitcom, recently hosted her own a vow renewal ceremony to mark two decades of marriage with her husband, Pennsylvania state Senator Vincent Hughes. The event, originally intended to be an intimate gathering, wound up welcoming some 250 guests at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where Ralph walked up the storied steps in a shawl with an 80-foot train, according to Vogue. "How could I walk up all of those steps without leaving a trail of something for everybody to look at," Ralph, 68, told the outlet. She climbed the steps – famous for their appearance in a workout montage from "Rocky" – and met Hughes halfway up, before ascending together to the top, where the ceremony kicked off. Ralph, a Broadway icon whose second act with "Abbott" has made her an even bigger star, made headlines earlier this year when she revealed that she and Hughes don't live together. Her work in entertainment keeps her in Los Angeles, she said at the time, and his as a state legislator keeps him in Philadelphia – so they make it work long distance. "I wasn't at a place where I was willing to give up my career, but I also didn't want to give up having a stable relationship with the kind of man that I knew would be there for me," the actress told Vogue. Bette Midler and Sheryl Lee Ralph dish on aging, their R-rated movie 'Fabulous Four' The pair married in 2005. To mark their anniversary, Ralph wanted to lean into her stage roots. "I come from the stage, and I love the drama of what you bring on the stage," she said of her fashion choices. Ralph wore a custom gown and Dior pumps. The shawl, in place of a veil, was carried by 22 ballerinas from the city's Philadanco company. Gwyneth Paltrow, 'apartners' and why some people live separately from their spouses A vow renewal represents a celebration not of new love, but of an old love evolved, Ralph told Vogue. "In marriage, we have so many things that happen in life," she said. "People live. People die. Relationships change. You change. Your partner changes. Your family, your immediate family, your extended family – there are changes in life." "Then there's just the everyday of it. How are you able to get back up again and continue being together? I love that sentiment," she added, referencing the fighting spirit behind the movie that made Philly's signature steps famous. KATSEYE's lesbian Lollapalooza moment — every lesbian and sapphic needs to see this today
KATSEYE made their Lollapalooza debut over the weekend — and got a little salaciously sapphic on stage in the process. The "global girl group," which has taken a lot of inspiration from the world of K-pop, performed at the Chicago music festival as part of Sunday's afternoon showcase. Fans both present and paying attention from the far corners of the internet were going wild over the set, with one moment in particular drawing attention. Group members Lara and Manon got a little bit frisky in their dance moves, doing some grinding and even some writhing while the rest of the group just kept on doing their thing. Can't stop thinking about @KATSEYE #katseye #lollapalooza 🎥: @Respective Collective "the way Manon grabbed Lara like cmon boutta make history," one TikTok commenter wrote. "The fic writers are about to actually go crazy," joked another. Lara has previously come out as queer, as has fellow KATSEYE member, Megan. Some fans used this as yet another opportunity to speculate about Manon's sexuality, but mostly, they just seemed to enjoy the show. "you're laughing. katseye is lezzing out on lolla stage and you're laughing." "thank you katseye, thank you twice, thank you lollapalooza." Lollapalooza marked almost one year since the very first time KATSEYE performed publicly together at KCON in Los Angeles. Reports suggest this weekend's performance pulled a whopping 85,000 attendees. Joseph Kahn says Taylor Swift shot this 'Reputation' music video before scrapping it
"And all at once," the video for "King of My Heart" by Taylor Swift was gone. The singer filmed a music video for the "Reputation" track a decade ago before shelving the project, according to her longtime collaborator Joseph Kahn. "We started shooting it," Kahn said on a recent episode of the "Ourselves" podcast. "We never finished it because she switched gears in the middle of it to do 'Ready for It?'" He told host and fellow music video director Arrad Rahgoshay the video was fully shot but never made it past production. "It was highly visual effects," Kahn said. When a Swift fan account shared the news, one of the comments read, "King of my heart video is officially becoming the new 'ATW 10 minute song.'" The joke being Swift mentioned on a livestream she had a 10-minute version of her song "All Too Well." Swifties begged her for years to release it, and she did on "Red (Taylor's Version)" in November 2021. How did Swift meet Kahn? Kahn has directed eight of Swift's music videos and one commercial. Their collaboration began during her "1989" era. Kahn said on the podcast that he was watching "A Clockwork Orange" when his phone rang. Swift wanted him to direct the "Blank Space" music video. He later helmed visuals for "Out of the Woods," "Bad Blood" and "Wildest Dreams." Their creative partnership continued into her "Reputation" era. Kahn met with Swift and producer Jack Antonoff right after the Super Bowl in 2017. The director said Swift was still reeling from online backlash and her infamous feud with Kim Kardashian, who labeled her a snake on social media. "Let's embrace the snake," Kahn told her. "Snakes are cool. There's a lot worse things they could have called you. We decided to make the snake the concept in the video. I think she had so much fire in her, so much to prove. First song off the new album, she was ready to go all in on it." That video — "Look What You Made Me Do" — was Kahn's most ambitious production to date, he said. It took five days across 18 sets to create. "She wrote an unlimited check and went for it," Kahn said. "She paid for all of that stuff, and she didn't have any rights to it. I'm so glad that she has it all back now, because she's the one that was writing those checks. It was her personal cash, and she made the investment on every one of those videos and was the force that made it all happen. I was the lucky guy who executed them, but she laid it all on the line."
