Rajpal Yadav isn't afraid of Bollywood remakes falling short, says

India Gazette31-05-2025
New Delhi [India], May 31 (ANI): The ever-smiling king of comedy, Rajpal Yadav, best known for his iconic comic timing in films like 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa,' 'Chup Chup Ke,' and 'Bhagam Bhag', has shared his thoughts on the current Bollywood trend of remakes and sequels.
Asked if he ever worries about sequels or remakes not living up to the original films, Yadav shared that he doesn't see any point in being scared.
He added that every film is an opportunity -- for filmmakers, actors, and audiences; hence, cinema should bring fresh ideas regardless of whether it's a remake or an original movie.
'Darne se kya fayeda. Bana hi daali hai toh flop hojaegi, isse jyada kya hojaega. Paisa bhi lagta hai aur audience nayi film dekhne jaati hai aur abhineta ko bhi naya kirdaar jeene ka saubhagya milta hai. Toh cinema jab bhi banein, toh naya bane.' (What's the point of being scared? If it's already made, at worst it will flop -- what else can happen? It takes money, the audience goes to see a new film, and the actor gets to live a new character. So whenever cinema is made, it should be new.),' Yadav told ANI in an interview.
Rajpal's take comes at a time when Bollywood is seeing a wave of sequels. Films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Hera Pheri 3, and Housefull 5 are lined up for release.
Rajpal Yadav's journey in films began with a breakthrough role in a film by Ram Gopal Varma. Later, he became popular for his slapstick comedy roles. He acted in movies like 'Ek Aur Ek Gyarah,' 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi,' Bhagam Bhag, and many others.
Next, the actor will be seen in 'Bhooth Bangla,' a horror-comedy directed by Priyadarshan, which stars Akshay Kumar. The film is already one of the most awaited movies as it marks the return of the hit duo of Priyadarshan and Akshay after 15 years. (ANI)

Siddhant Chaturvedi, Triptii Dimri starer Dhadak 2 struggles at box office, earns ₹3.65 on Day 1

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 2 (ANI): The much-awaited romantic drama 'Dhadak 2,' starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, finally hit theatres this Friday. While the film had generated curiosity for its fresh pairing, its box office performance on Day 1 fell short of expectations. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the sequel to 'Dhadak' earned ₹ 3.65 crore on its first day in India. The film's release clashed with Ajay Devgn's starer 'Son of Sardaar 2.' With two major films hitting theatres on the same day, movie buffs seem to have divided their attention, which could be one reason why the film fell short of expectations. Adding to the pressure was the continued success of Ahaan Panday's Saiyaara at the box office. The romantic drama, which hit theatres earlier on July 18, is still performing strongly. This seems to have affected the Siddhant and Dimri starrer. 'Dhadak 2' is a follow-up to 2018's 'Dhadak' and a remake of filmmaker Mari Selvaraj's 2018 Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. As per Adarsh, the sequel's first-day numbers are below expectations, especially when compared to its first instalment, 'Dhadak,' which starred Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter. The film had earned ₹ 8.71 crore on its opening day back then. All eyes are now on the weekend collections to see if the film can pick up pace.

Kartik Aaryan's team says actor was ‘not associated' with event organised by Pakistani restaurant after FWICE's warning

Actor Kartik Aaryan received a notice from The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) over claims that he was going to be present at an upcoming Independence Day event in Houston, USA. The event was organised by a Pakistani-owned restaurant. The actor's team has now issued a statement clarifying that he was not associated with this event. Kartik Aaryan was last seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Official statement from Kartik's team The official statement from Kartik Aaryan's team read: 'Kartik Aaryan is not associated with this event in any capacity. He has never made an official announcement about participating in this event. We have contacted the organizers and requested to remove all promotional materials featuring his name and image." Objection from FWICE The issue began when, in an official letter to Kartik, the FWICE urged the actor to withdraw from the upcoming event. As per Times Now, the letter read, 'It is with a sense of deep concern and responsibility that the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) brings to your notice a matter involving your scheduled participation in an event titled Azadi Utsav-The Indian Independence Day to be held in Houston, USA, on 15th August 2025. As per the attached poster, you are being featured as the lead guest for this celebration. While such events are a source of pride and cultural expression for Indians abroad, we regret to inform you that this specific program is being organized by a Pakistani-owned restaurant, Aga's Restaurant and Catering, owned by Mr. Shaukat Maredia.' The letter continued, 'The same restaurant and its associates are also organizing a concert featuring Pakistani singer Atil Aslam and are promoting Jashn-e-Azadi, a celebration of Pakistan's Independence Day. The simultaneous promotion of Indian and Pakistani national events by the same establishment not only creates a conflict of interest but also violates the ongoing national sentiment and directives.' 'We believe you may not have been fully aware of the organisers' background or affiliations. If so, we strongly urge you to immediately withdraw your participation from this event. However, if you were aware, it becomes a matter of even greater concern and we expect a clarification and immediate distancing from such associations. We are confident that you, as one of the most influential and respected faces of today's Indian cinema, will act in a manner that aligns with national sentiment, the dignity of the Indian film industry, and your own stellar reputation. We look forward to your responsible and timely response on this matter,' concluded the statement. On the work front, Kartik was last seen in the horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Fans will see him next in Anurag Basu's next, which will also star Sreeleela.
