Promoters of Ozone Urbana diverted project funds, says ED

The Hindu2 days ago
The recent raids on the promoters of the much-delayed realty project Ozone Urbana Housing Township in Devanahalli taluk on the outskirts of Bengaluru by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on August 1, is said to have revealed that the promoters of the project 'diverted the money collected from the customers meant for completion of the project to other group entities and individuals not connected to the project'.
In a statement issued on Sunday, ED said that during the search operations, various incriminating documents related to diversion and misappropriation of project funds have been found and seized from the various premises. Evidence with respect to double sale of a few flats has also been gathered and seized during the course of investigation, ED said.
ED had raided 10 premises linked to the promoter of the project Ozone Urbana Infra Developers Pvt. Ltd. and its key management personnel in Bengaluru and Mumbai under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. The main promoter of this group is Satyamoorthi Vasudevan, ED said.
'The investigation under PMLA, 2002, revealed that the accused company along with and its key management personnel have cheated hundreds of gullible customers by taking money from them for its project by the name Ozone Urbana and failing to deliver promised flats to them. The money was collected from customers by inducing them and promising to pay EMIs to the banks against the loans taken by the home buyers till completion of the project. The company has also promised many buyers huge discounts in the name of various schemes such as buyback schemes,' ED said in its statement on Sunday.
The integrated township project was to be handed over to buyers in 2018. However, till 2024, only 49% of the project was completed. Thus, the company neither handed over the project nor returned the money to the buyers.

Falcon fraud: Rs 21 cr diverted to Goa casino, says Enforcement Directorate

Hyderabad: Enforcement Directorate's (ED's) investigation into the Falcon invoice fraud found that Amardeep Kumar, the key accused and director of Capital Protection Force Pvt Ltd, has allegedly diverted nearly Rs 21 crore to a Goa-based casino between 2021 and 2023, using both company and personal accounts. The casino alerted financial intelligence agencies regarding suspicious high-value transactions linked to Amardeep Kumar. Capital collected investments worth Rs 792 crore from investors under the guise of 'Falcon Invoice Discounting Scheme'. The accused promised investors high returns by claiming the investments would be used for invoice discounting activities. An app named 'Falcon Invoice' was developed to collect deposits and was promoted through Google, YouTube, and other digital platforms. However, the probe found that no actual invoice discounting business existed. ED stated that the scam proceeds were instead diverted to various personal and business interests of Amardeep. These include investments in equity shares, unsecured loans to companies, the purchase of an aircraft, and the acquisition of immovable properties. Properties were found registered in the names of Amardeep, his family members, Rhett Healthcare Pvt Ltd, and Rhett Herbal Pvt Ltd. A portion of the proceeds of crime was allegedly routed to a prominent casino in Goa. In March 2025, ED had seized a private jet — Hawker 800A — allegedly bought by Amardeep using proceeds from the scam. The personal accounts of Amardeep had already received large sums — Rs 55 crore and Rs 35 crore respectively — from the Capital Protection Force company's main account. ED had found that Rs 2.82 crore was transferred directly from the account of Capital Protection Force Pvt Ltd to the company owned by the casino between Oct 2021 and March 2023. Another Rs 16.3 crore was routed from Amardeep's personal account — into which approximately Rs 55 crore was earlier received from the company — between April 2021 and Feb 2023. Additionally, Rs 1.15 crore was transferred between May 2023 and July 2023 from another personal account of Amardeep, which received about Rs 35 crore from the company's funds.

SCERT ‘scam' probe: ED raids locations in Assam ‘linked' to retd IAS officer

The matter stems from a First Information Report (FIR) lodged by Assam CM's Special Vigilance Cell which subsequently filed a chargesheet against Sharma and others in 2023 alleging presence of disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 5.7 crore in her case. Sharma was arrested by the Special Vigilance Cell in May 2023 along with six others from Ajmer. New Delhi: Sleuths with the Guwahati zonal office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) Tuesday launched raids at eight locations suspected to be linked to former IAS officer Sewali Devi Sharma and others in connection with the agency's probe into an alleged scam involving the Assam State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). Based on the findings, the ED registered an ECIR (Enforcement Case Information Report). According to sources in the agency, when Sharma was posted in Assam on deputation between 2017 and 2022, she was responsible for managing SCERT's ODL (open and distance learning) cell and statewide implementation of National Council for Teacher Education's (NCTE) two-year diploma in Elementary Education ( programme. Sharma, it is learnt, allegedly opened five bank accounts for the ODL cell with herself as the sole signatory, which was in contravention of the Assam Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act, 2005. 'Instead of depositing the amount of Rs 115,12,80,099 received as fees into the government treasury, Sharma deposited the funds in bank accounts opened by her and spent more than Rs 105 crore without obtaining financial power as per delegation of power under Rules of the Government of Assam,' a source told ThePrint. Agency sources also alleged that the expenditure was incurred on supplies and contracts 'given to entities owned and controlled by family members or close associates or close relatives as well as to one Sarang More, a CA who was also auditor of the ODL cell'. The agency also suspects these contracts were given without any advertisements or invitation for tenders. 'Except for two parties, none had any experience executing work orders awarded to them and payments were made without the required receipts or verification of actual supply,' said the source.
