Question: Which rookies are going to be fantasy relevant this year?
Matt's answer: Tons of RBs!
Ashton Jeanty will be a Round 1 pick, tons of volume available with the Raiders and a proven run-first coach.
Kaleb Johnson should start right away and fits the Steelers zone-heavy system.
Quinshon Judkins will also likely start for the Browns but ... how many TDs are they gonna score?
Lastly, RJ Harvey is already your favorite fantasy analyst's top rookie "sleeper" RB.
Question: Any tips for someone who's doing fantasy football for the first time?
Matt's answer: Don't be too overly bought into consensus opinion. Outliers win you championships, so don;t be afraid to lean into volatile players with unknowns. Also, have fun and don't let it stress you out.
Question: What receivers and running backs not in the first or second round do you feel good about?
Matt's answer: If Rashee Rice avoids suspension and is healthy entering the season, he is going to catch 100+ passes. Ricky Pearsall is a much deeper sleeper this year. Much deeper down the list — and may not get drafted — is Jack Bech, rookie from the Raiders. Big slot who fits with what Chip Kelly wants to do and was one of my favorite prospects.

RB wise, Kaleb Johnson is among rookies and I've taken shots on. Both Tank Bigsby and Bhayshul Tuten in Jacksonville with Liam Coen bringing a revived run game in. I generally think Travis Etienne Jr. is on the downhill. Also, if Aaron Jones gets banged up, Jordan Mason was 2nd in the NFL in rushing yards last year in Weeks 1-7. We know he can play and the Vikings just beefed up their interior OL.
Question: What's your routine like to prepare to make all this fantasy content?
Matt's answer: High protein breakfast right after waking, walk 40+ mins right after and stretch for 10+ mins after.

On a serious note, my main thing right now is charting as many WRs as possible for Reception Perception, keeping up with the news and working on full projections for every player by July.
Question: Who are you lower on this coming year vs consensus rankings?
Matt's answer: I am not trying to draft into many Dolphins this year and therefore lower on Tyreek Hill. Trying to be a year early on the decline than late. Also not convinced DJ Moore should be the consensus 39th overall ranked player and none of the other Chicago pass catchers are inside the top 80.
Question: Will either Puka Nacua or Davante Adams reach 1,000 yards if they both (and Matthew Stafford) stay healthy? Who is a better pick at their current ADP?

Matt's answer: I am drafting both at ADP, I think Puka should rank higher because he's in his prime and has played in the offense before. Both can reach 1K yards in this offense but more importantly, more than enough scoring opportunities to go around.
Question: Who is your hardest player to rank or project this far out from the season?
Matt's answer: Always volatile projections are players coming off injury. Brandon Aiyuk is a good example. Top 10 WR in the NFL when playing at full health but when is that gonna be?
Question: I'm the only person in my league who hasn't won a fantasy football championship — any advice?

Matt's answer: Draft into more upside and take more risks this year.
Question: Who is your favorite sleeper WR for this upcoming season?
Matt's answer: Ricky Pearsall is a great bet this season as is Kyle Williams — the rookie WR for the New England Patriots with Drake Maye ready to rock in Year 2.
Question: So, it sounds like an easy Pearsall > Jauan Jennings in SF for you?
Matt's answer: Not necessarily but Pearsall goes last among 49ers WRs in drafts, so he's the bet I like to make right now. Big fan of his ability to separate and play multiple roles in SF.
Question: which round of drafts do you see the talent dropoff at wide receiver this year?

Matt's answer: WR29 looks like a cliff to me right now where we start to get into some really shaky profiles. There will be hits from this range but the certainty decreases.
Question: Is Roman Wilson a lock to be the WR2 in Pittsburgh?
Matt's answer: Nah I don't think so. I was lower on him as a prospect and he did nothing as a rookie. They like Calvin Austin a good bit. Not sure a WR2 even matters in Pittsburgh for fantasy.
Question: Do you have any must-draft players yet?
Matt's answer: A little too early for me to have "must-draft" players, but I am really into Rome Odunze outside of the top 35 WRs. Much better player than the rookie stats show.
Question: What A your thoughts on Jaxon Smith-Njigba?

Matt's answer: Finishing top 5 in the NFL in receiving yards is within his range of outcomes. Better man-coverage player than people think and can play outside. New offense in Seattle is definitely a variable to consider but generally want to bet on young ascending WRs, especially guys who are clearly the WR1 on their team.
Question: Do you think Bech will get meaningful targets this year?
Matt's answer: I do. Wide open WR room with Jakobi Meyers the only proven guy and he lined up inside on only 33% of snaps last year. Plenty of room for Bech to be the big slot and win on horizontal routes.
Question: Where do you see Travis Hunter going in drafts?

Matt's answer: I have him ranked around WR30ish in drafts and I think that's where he will go. He is such an fantastic WR prospect and I love Liam Coen's offense based on what we saw last year.
Question: Are you waiting on QB or paying up for a top-tier name?
Matt's answer: If I can't get Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Jayden Daniels — all of whom I think are elite Round 3 picks — I will wait.
Question: How big do you think the Ben Johnson/Liam Cohen exits will effect the Lions and Bucs for fantasy?
Matt's answer: Big losses but I trust Dan Campbell, who is a bigger part of the offense than people credit, to keep it a strong unit. We do have a podcast episode coming on this topic in the next month or so, keep an eye out for that. Think we see a small downgrade in Tampa but still a lot of talent.

Kaleb Johnson wows Steelers fans, media early into NFL career
Kaleb Johnson will be the first RB in a long time to get a second contract w/ the #Steelers. He's going to be a good one. Kaleb Johnson was a star last season for the Iowa football team. After a good freshman season with the Hawkeyes, Johnson saw his playing time dip as a sophomore, receiving only 117 carries in 2023 compared to 151 in 2022. He entered his junior season with a lot to prove, especially after a suspension kept him out of the first half of the season opener. What happened next was something no one expected. Johnson exploded in 2024, getting 240 carries and rushing for 1,537 yards and a school record 21 touchdowns while averaging 6.4 yards per carry. He was named an All-American for his efforts and was generally regarded as the second-best running back in the entire nation behind Boise State's Ashton Jeanty. That season catapulted him into NFL Draft discussions, and he was eventually taken by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 2025 draft. And it seems Johnson is already impressing his new team, media, and fans. The Steelers opened training camp on Thursday, where everyone got to see their first real glimpse of Johnson in the NFL, playing alongside Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf. And social media was absolutely buzzing about his performance on the opening day of training camp. Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Drake Baldwin, Ryan McMahon and Kyle Bradish
FANTASY BASEBALL WAIVER WIRE PICKUPS Drake Baldwin (C Braves): Rostered in 20% of Yahoo leagues Even for those who weren't fortunate enough to land Cal Raleigh, it's been pretty easy to get solid production from the catcher spot in one-backstop leagues this year, easy enough that most seem too content to make a change at this point. For that reason, Baldwin remains available in 80 percent of Yahoo leagues, even after the Braves turned him into a full-time player by putting Marcell Ozuna on the bench last weekend. He's since started seven straight games, four at catcher and three at DH. With Ozuna seemingly likely to be moved at the deadline, Baldwin should get all of the playing time he can handle the rest of the way, making him the NL Rookie of the Year favorite. He's certainly looked the part thus far in batting .284/.353/.479 with 11 homers. The league as a whole this year has 27% more hard-hit balls than strikeouts. Baldwin has 123% more (89 hard-hit balls, 40 strikeouts). His 50.9% hard-hit rate places him 31st of the 268 batters with 200 plate appearances. Will Smith and Hunter Goodwin are the only catchers hitting at least .280 with at least 10 homers. Maybe Baldwin will wear down some, but all of the DH time will help. If the Braves pivot and trade Sean Murphy instead of Ozuna, I would drop Baldwin in my rankings some. Right now, though, I have him eighth among catchers, and I'd be willing to move on from guys like J.T. Realmuto, Alejandro Kirk, Shea Langeliers, Logan O'Hoppe and Agustin Ramírez in order to add him. Ryan McMahon (3B Yankees): Rostered in 35% of Yahoo leagues It's hard to spin being traded out of Coors Field as a good thing, but getting away from the disaster of an organization that is the Colorado Rockies might pay off for McMahon, an eternally disappointing offensive player who nevertheless possesses excellent exit velocity numbers. Those numbers are actually better than usual this season. McMahon, who was dealt to the Yankees for two pitching prospects on Friday, is currently averaging 94.0 mph off the bat, seventh best in the majors. His top-end numbers aren't as great -- for instance, he's just 46th when it comes to 90th percentile exit velocity -- but that's still a lot of hard contact. He's also hitting more flyballs and pulling the ball more than usual this year. It seems like a recipe for success, but there have been a lot of shots to the warning track thus far. He's also probably been unlucky; Statcast has him with a .466 xSLG, compared to .403 in reality. He's never experienced any sort of gap like that previously. Obviously, the strikeouts really hold McMahon back. He was leading the NL with 127 this season, which is remarkable for a guy playing in the league's preeminent strikeout-suppressing ballpark. The Yankees probably have some ideas on how to help him there, but one can't really expect him to improve much in the near future. If McMahon's value does come up in the short term, it will be a product of hitting in a far better lineup and sneaking balls over the right field wall in Yankee Stadium. It's a far worse offensive ballpark, but it's one that yields more homers to left-handers than Coors does. Unless the Yankees platoon him against southpaws -- they probably ought to, but I'm guessing he'll be a full-timer initially -- he's probably a better rest-of-season bet today than he was yesterday. Kyle Bradish (SP Orioles): Rostered in 10% of Yahoo leagues Bradish pitched in a game Thursday for the first time since Tommy John surgery, throwing two innings and allowing one run for High-A Aberdeen. The stadium gun had him at 94-96 mph, said Jake Rill, putting right back where he was before getting hurt. That bodes well for a right-hander who had emerged as one of the AL's best pitchers at the time of his injury. A subpar pitcher as a rookie in 2022, Bradish busted out about a month into the 2023 season and wound up posting a 2.42 ERA and a 150/35 K/BB in his final 25 starts that year. Last season, he was just as effective, and his strikeout rate jumped from 25 percent to 33 percent in the eight starts before he got hurt. The league had a hard-hit rate of just 29 percent against his arsenal of two fastballs, a slider and a curve. That's not to say Bradish is going to experience the same sort of success right away after returning next month. He might even have a setback before then, and given that the Orioles are out of contention, any sort of setback would probably get him shut down until 2026. However, if his rehab continues to progress smoothly, he could be quite an asset over the final six weeks of the season. Those who look to wait until his rehab is complete to pick him up will probably find they missed out. Waiver Wire Quick Hits - I'm not going to write about rotation-bound Joe Boyle again so soon after featuring him recently, but he ought to be picked up everywhere after the Rays' demotion of Taj Bradley. Instead, he's only 15 percent rostered now. - The Astros' Cristian Javier doesn't need to be picked up just yet as he works his way back from Tommy John, but it was really encouraging that he averaged 93.6 mph with his fastball in his first Triple-A start. That's back where he was in 2021 and '22 before falling off in 2023 (92.8 mph) and 2024 (91.7). I doubt we'll ever again see the Javier of 2022 (2.54 ERA, 33% K rate in 149 IP), but on a fine Houston team, he doesn't need to be that good to offer some value.
