Pervert pensioner told to attend court or face arrest
A judge warned today he was issuing an arrest warrant for a convicted sex offender if he fails to appear in court.
'Delusional' Stephen Ford Hutchinson was due to be sentenced in Ballymena Magistrates Court today after the 70-year-old admitted breaching his Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
Defence counsel Nadine Knight admitted however that Hutchinson had not attended amid claims that he is 'unwell.'
'He contacted the solicitor to say that he is unwell and had been with the GP on Tuesday with a potential diagnosis of vertigo,' she told District Judge Nicole Broderick, adding that despite being asked for a letter to that effect, Hutchinson had not provided anything.

The pensioner, from the Curran Road in Larne, had been due to be sentenced over a SOPO breach in that he had admitted he had accessed social media and communicated with another person on 7 April this year.
The SOPO, an order designed to protect the public, was put in place last year after Hutchinson was convicted of of attempting to sexually communicate with a child between 18 July and 1 August 2022.
The pensioner, who had also entered guilty plea to three charges of having extreme pornography, had been ensnared by a paedophile hunter group whose decoy had been posing as a 14-year-old girl.
During the contest, Hutchinson's testimony was at times bizarre as he claimed that he was a 'digital soldier' helping to combat against 'dark forces' involved in 'molesting children and sexualising children, indoctrinating them in schools and cannibalism.'
'I believe it involves Satanic ritual child abuse and world wide trafficking of children,' the 70-year-old told the court, claiming that at the time of the offending he had been 'tracking what was purported to be the greatest military intelligence operation in the history of the planet.'
'It was an online thing, I'm not a member of it, just tracking that's all and we had been led to believe that there was an emergency alert system imminent whereby a world wide alert had been put out and the military would come in and take over.

When he sentenced the pensioner to five months, suspended for three years, Judge Broderick said it was clear from Hutchinson's 'presentation at court and from what he has told probation that he is living in a different world - he seems to be delusional.'
In court today Judge Broderick adjourned the case for a week but warned that if Hutchinson failed to attend again with no good reason, 'I'm likely to issue a warrant.'

Judge Sarah Berkeley had stated in the Circuit Civil Court that 13-year-old Jessica Twamley had suffered a nasty injury when she touched a live wire hanging from a wall inside the unoccupied building at Newcastle Road, Lucan. 'Leaving a live connection to a derelict building near a residential area was extremely unsafe,' Judge Berkeley said. Barrister James McConnon, counsel for Jessica, of Griffeen Glen Avenue, Lucan, told the court that Jessica and a number of friends had entered the grounds of the property through a hole in a perimeter fence on March 14, 2021. Mr McConnon, who appeared with Keans Solicitors, said that while in the building Jessica had touched an exposed electric wire with both hands and had been electrocuted, suffering injuries to both her hands. He said the grounds and building would have constituted an enticement to children to get inside. Jessica, who will be 18 on September 1st next, though shocked and injured, had managed to make her way home on foot, Mr McConnon said. She had sued EdgeConnex Ireland Limited, which has a registered address at South Bank House, Barron Street, Dublin 4, and also of Grange Castle Business Park, Old Nangor Road, Dublin, through her father Philip Twamley. Mr McConnon said EdgeConnex owned the property at Ballymakailey, Newcastle Road, Lucan, but he was unaware of the state of the premises at the moment. Mr Twamley, in written evidence, told the court the building had been unoccupied and derelict and his daughter and her friends had entered through a fence surrounding part of the premises. They had been engaged in taking TikTok videos at the time of the incident. He said that when Jessica had arrived home her mother could see that both her hands had been burned and she had called an ambulance. Jessica had been taken to Crumlin Children's Hospital where she had been treated and detained for observation overnight. Mr McConnon said there were three medical reports before the court and EdgeConnex had initially proffered a settlement of €10,000 but had increased their offer to €15,000. Man jailed for manslaughter after ‘one-stride kick' on prone man outside pub
In passing sentence at the Central Criminal Court today, Ms Justice Caroline Biggs said the prosecution had argued that Calvin Dunne had taken 'a running kick' at Dylan McCarthy A 25-year-old 'sportsman' has been jailed for six years and three months for the manslaughter of a man who died after he was assaulted during a melee outside a Kildare pub nearly three years ago. In passing sentence at the Central Criminal Court today, Ms Justice Caroline Biggs said the prosecution had argued that Calvin Dunne had taken 'a running kick' at Dylan McCarthy (29) while he was on the ground. But having viewed the CCTV footage again, the judge said that it seemed to her to be 'a one-stride kick' that made contact to the head. A co-accused, Sean Kavanagh (27) was jailed for two years and two months having been convicted of assault causing harm and violent disorder arising out of the same incident, at Dublin Road, Monasterevin, Kildare, on August 21, 2022. Dunne, of Abbey View, Monasterevin, Co Kildare, was acquitted of murder but convicted of Dylan McCarthy's manslaughter by a Central Criminal Court jury following a trial earlier this year. He was also found guilty of violent disorder, having denied both charges. Two weeks into the trial, Kavanagh, with an address at St Mary's Lane, Church Avenue, Monasterevin, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing harm to Eamonn McCarthy, the father of the deceased. A charge of violent disorder was taken into consideration. State pathologist Dr Heidi Okkers told the jury it was not possible to determine whether a punch or kick caused the fatal injury that led to Mr McCarthy's death. In delivering sentence today, Ms Justice Biggs said that a probation report on Dunne indicated that he had a clear understanding of what he had done and was at a low risk of reoffending. In the case of Kavanagh, for the assault causing harm charge, Ms Justice Biggs said the offence belonged in the very upper end of the mid-range, with a headline sentence of 40 months. She reduced this by 25pc to two years and six months, with the final four months suspended for 12 months to ensure rehabilitation. The violent disorder charge was taken into consideration.
