Oti Mabuse broke down in tears on Loose Women as she revealed some harrowing family history that she unearthed while taking part on ITV 's DNA Journey.
The 34 year old discussed what she'd found out about her ancestry while chatting about Sam Thomspon and Marvin Humes ' upcoming episode of the programme.
It got Oti and her co-stars Kaye Adams, 62, Nadia Sawalha, 60, and Jane Moore, 63, thinking about their own family history.
Oti said: 'I've done a lot of ITV television. This was the best show I've ever done.
'It gave me something personally back.
'I'm from South Africa and our history is really rough.
'With my family, it was wiped out, we had no way of getting any information. When we did this show, they went back to the beginning...'
They then played out a clip from the episode and she continued: 'This makes me very emotional.
'This moment was the moment me and my sister learnt about my grandfather, was was actually a soldier in World War Two.
'He was fighting, he fought for the British.
'They promised all these young black men, you're going to war, you're going to fight for the country, come back and get land, be loved, celebrated.
They came back, they gave them boots and eradicated them and left them in the middle of nowhere. So that is the history.'
She added: 'I think if you see the clip, we cried all our makeup off, it was so heartbreaking. but also so liberating, whether its good or bad, you know where you come from.
'I always believe the roots of where you come from give you the power and the encouragement and confidence to enter the room and go for your future.
'Now I know I am a granddaughter of a soldier.
'My great great aunt was a princess and it went down into royalty.'
They then played out that exact moment and Oti couldn't contain her emotion.
The dancer burst into tears as she Nadia praised her family for their hard efforts.
Back in 2023, Oti and Motsi broke down in tears as they were finally told information about their grandfather following a DNA test.
The sisters took part in the show Oti and Motsi Mabuse's DNA Journey in a bid to learn more about their family history.
The Strictly Come Dancing stars became emotional as they were given medals their grandfather received for his work in the armed forces and they also learned they are distantly related to Nelson Mandela.
In one heartwarming clip from the show, Oti and Motsi wipe away tears as a man shared their grandfather's family history.
Oti said: 'It's a good thing, it's an amazing thing. Please don't think we're sad. One of the missing pieces that we've missed and needed to hear for so long, it's a beautiful thing. We're so grateful. These are tears of, "Oh my God!"'
The man replied: 'You've got a lot to be proud of and all the good deeds your grandfather has done.'
Motsi then read out some of the honours their grandfather received, saying: 'Defence Medal British, war medal and an African Service medal.'
'We had no idea we had war medals in the family,' she added.
Oti added: 'We've tried and everywhere we looked, there's nothing. That's why we have it in our own heads that there's nothing in our family. You've completely flipped that on its head.'
Motsi said the pair couldn't wait to give the information to their father, who they suspected wouldn't know any of it either.
In another clip, the sisters spoke to a different man who had examined their DNA and discovered Nelson Mandela is a 'genetic relative' of theirs.
He said: 'Your group, some quite special people belong to your group and are distant genetic relatives of yours.'
Motsi replied: 'Don't say Nelson Mandela.'
The man confirms it was Nelson Mandela, prompting Oti and Motsi to jump up and down with delight as he added: 'And Archbishop Desmond Tutu, both of them.'
In another clip, Oti and Motsi appear to discover they are also related to a royal family.
They speak to a young woman over Zoom who tells them: 'I have this really exciting nugget of information.
'My great grandma was a direct descendant of royalty. Her name is Princess Hermina.'

Denise Welch heaps praise on son Matty Healy after divisive Glasto set

Denise Welch has praised her son Matty Healy - frontman of rock band The 1975 - after his Friday night headline performance at Glastonbury divided fans Denise Welch - mum of The 1975's Matty Healy - has heaped praise on her son after his Glastonbury Festival headline set on the Pyramid Stage proved divisive amongst fans. The 36-year-old rocker, who hit the headlines in 2023 for his brief romance with Taylor Swift and is believed to have influenced her latest album The Tortured Poets Department, was branded 'insufferable' by some fans. While others left after being heard saying it 'wasn't their vibe'. ‌ The first thing they took issue with was Matty opening the band's set holding a pint of Guinness he didn't seem to drink, with a cigarette in the other hand. ‌ He then went on a rant in which he described himself as 'probably the best songwriter of my generation', telling the crowd: "What this moment is making me realise is that - yeah. This moment is making me realise. I probably am the best, so I'm probably the best songwriter of my generation. A poet, ladies and gentlemen, is what I am. I wanted to remind you - this poetry, I believed in it for you," he said in a dig to his ex Taylor Swift. READ MORE: Glastonbury Festival's mystery Patchwork act's identity revealed with telling clue But some fans weren't here for it, with one writing on social media: 'The thing which makes Matty Healy so insufferable is it's very easy to imagine that all the b**lendery he does on stage isn't just for the performance, but that he would genuinely sashay into Gregg's reciting 14th century French poetry.' Another moaned: 'Matty Healy swaggering about with a pint he has no intention of drinking is the most annoying thing I've ever seen." While a third said: "Should have been all about the #1975 but Healy has decided to hijack it and turn in a car crash performance. You can see it in the bands faces. All he had to do was hold it together for one day and he's failed miserably." In a video shared by his Loose Women star mum Denise - who watched her son's performance from the crowd and posed for snaps with various celebs backstage - Matty appeared to look emotional at one point and was given hugs by his band members and entourage. ‌ Posting the clip to her Instagram stories, 67-year-old Denise called The 1975's performance a '1000/10' and said it was an 'unbelievable night'. Denise, who shares Matty with ex-husband Tim Healy, was at the gig with her current partner, Matty's stepdad Lincoln Townley. But the former Coronation Street star has ruled out camping and is staying off site in what looks like a glamping set up with a hot tub. She told the Mirror she had been "stressing out" ahead of her son's appearance and said: "I've not really been a festival bunny - I don't really do festivals. "The only one I've been to is Coachella. It was all VIP and very lovely. Hot, sunny and gorgeous and I thought 'Oh, this is okay'. And no one stays there, everyone goes home at the end of the night. I am stressed about Glastonbury." She added: "I am not going to stay for the whole three days. I would rather be able to dip in and out. I might dip back in for the Sunday night to see Rod [Stewart]."

Matty Healy takes aim at Taylor Swift during Glastonbury performance

Matty Healy couldn't resist taking a cheeky swipe at ex Taylor Swift on stage at Glastonbury - as his fiancée Gabriette watched on. The singer - son of Loose Women panellist Denise Welch and actor Tim Healy - headlined the Pyramid Stage with his band The 1975 to mixed reviews on Friday night. ‌ Despite vowing never to write about his past relationships, unlike his famous ex, Matty shared a subtle joke about his time with the Shake It Off hitmaker. ‌ 'I'm probably the best songwriter of my generation — the best,' he told the crowd on Worthy Farm. 'What do we say? A poet.' He teased in an apparent dig at Taylor's album,Tortured Poets Society. READ MORE: This Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader-approved setting spray will keep your make-up in place this heatwave Matty hit headlines across the world in 2023 when he enjoyed a brief romantic relationship with a newly-single Taylor. Their union fizzled out within weeks but was enough to inspire the Blank Space singer to mention Healy in a number of tracks on her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department. On a podcast in October, Matty seemingly revealed he would not be producing a musical reply to Taylor's swipes - saying that he is 'not interested in' writing about the 'casual romantic liaisons' he has 'become known for'. ‌ 'If I made a record about, I don't know, all the stuff that was said about me, or my casual romantic liaisons, or my, whatever it may be, that I've kind of become known for, just because I was famous,' he mused. 'I think that's an obvious thing to draw from. I'm just not interested in it. And I think that the maintenance of the status quo is something that I always fight against. 'So the idea of making a record about something that personally happened to me, that by the time I put it out is going to be like, two years old. I see people doing that as well, and it's just not interesting.' ‌ The 1975's performance at Glastonbury this week has been met with divided opinions by fans. Singer Matty opened the set holding a pint of Guinness he didn't seem to drink, with a cigarette in the other hand. Fans took to social media to share their opinions of the gig. One wrote: "Matty Healy swaggering about with a pint he's no intention of drinking is the most annoying thing I've ever seen." Another said: "Matty Healy trolls on stage at Glastonbury: 'I'm probably the best songwriter of my generation — the best, what do we say? A poet.'" ‌ "Matty Healy carrying a pint of Guinness around to appear relatable and has not drunk a single sip in 10 minutes," another added. However, there were plenty of viewers that loved the show. One commented: "I do understand why Matty Healy is a polarising character but I think The 1975 are a brilliant band with sharp songwriting, brilliant diversity in sound & excellent musicianship. Still my favourites!" As a second took to the platform to say: "Say what you want about Matty Healy but he is a SHOW MAN."
