Aston Martini, who is rated 132 over hurdles, was getting 2lbs from Il Est Francais but could have given weight all round as she ran out a decisive ten-length winner.
It was yet another flop for 3-5 chance Il Est Francais, who looked a world-beater when winning the Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton in 2023.
The Noel George and Amanda Zetterholm-trained chaser put in one of the greatest jumping performances the Surrey track has ever seen that day.
And he looked like the King George winner last Boxing Day only to be nutted late on by Banbridge in a Christmas cracker.
But a weak finish in the Ryanair saw questions over his future once more - after he bled when flopping at Auteuil last November.
Now doubts have surfaced all over again after he could only finish third in a race that should have been his for the taking.

His Aston Martini, who is closely related to former Grand National winner Rule The World, stamped her class all over this 2m3f race.

Sent off around 7-1, jockey Felix De Giles never had to get serious, merely easing out the mare to win comfortably.
Sun Racing's Matt Chapman was one of those commenting on Il Est Francais' latest nightmare.
And he suggested the horse could benefit from being sent to Henderson, with a change of scenery perhaps enough to reignite his career.
Chapman said on Sky: "You know what, if I was the owner I'd try a change of scenery.
"That's not to do with the way current connections train the horse, but I'd maybe send him to Nicky Henderson.
"Perhaps different surroundings, a different feed, whatever might make a difference to the medical condition - or whatever it is he has.
"Maybe it won't make a difference where he was, but I would just try something different and see if anyone else can sort out his issues.
"Because they have been going on some time now and, for me, it might time to try something different… or give up!
"But I wouldn't personally give up on him."
George didn't sound too disappointed afterwards, saying Il Est Francais would now enjoy a summer break before coming back in the autumn.
Another crack at the King George looks logical but he is out to 20-1 for that now.
Speaking after the win, Henderson said: "That was fantastic, a great performance, and we only came here to achieve one thing and that was to get some black type, as there were no more Listed races in Britain and we've had it in mind for some time.
"It nearly scuppered our plan to see Il Est Francais in the race, but she was amazing.
"It's a beautiful track and it was beautiful ground with so much grass on it, it's a great place.
"I was talking to Noel George and he said it wasn't just Il Est Francais in there and there was also some other very good horses in there.
"It's actually the second time we've won that race and we won it with Fixe Le Kap in 2017 and I rode here 50 years ago in a cross-country, which is a bit scary!"

Lewis Hamilton ‘refuses' to join list of champions to fail with Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton said he will refuse to join the list of champions who have failed to win the world title at Ferrari after claiming his new team is not firing on all cylinders. Hamilton has not landed a podium in Ferrari colours – a streak of 12 races – the deepest into the season he has ever gone without a top-three finish. He is sixth in the standings, 131 points off the championship pace at the midway stage of his debut Ferrari campaign. Lewis Hamilton finished fourth at the recent British Grand Prix (Andrew Matthews/PA) Following the British Grand Prix, Hamilton said he staged meetings with all of Ferrari's key figures – including chairman John Elkann and team principal Fred Vasseur – and submitted two documents outlining his vision as to why the Italian giants are not up to speed. Ferrari's last world drivers' title came in 2007, with their most recent constructors' crown the following year. Speaking ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, Hamilton, 40, said: 'I see a huge amount of potential within this team. 'But it's a huge organisation, and there are a lot of moving parts. And not all of them are firing on all the cylinders that they need to be. 'That's ultimately why the team has not had the success that I think it deserves. So, I feel that it's my job to challenge absolutely every area, to challenge everybody in the team, particularly the guys that are at the top who are making the decisions. Rain or shine, the Tifosi are always here 🫶 — Scuderia Ferrari HP (@ScuderiaFerrari) July 24, 2025 'If you look at the team over the last 20 years, they've had amazing drivers. Kimi (Raikkonen), Fernando (Alonso), Sebastian (Vettel) — all world champions. However, they didn't win a world championship. (Raikkonen did in 2007). 'I refuse for that to be the case with me. So, I'm going the extra mile. If you take the same path all the time, you get the same results. So I'm just challenging certain things. There's still a lot of improvements to be made, but they've been very responsive.' Hamilton, who has a two-year deal at Ferrari with an option for a third, will hope an upgraded rear suspension for Sunday's race at Spa-Francorchamps will improve his fortunes. He concluded: 'I'm here to win. I don't have much time but I truly believe in the potential of this team. 'I really believe they can win multiple world championships moving forward. That's my sole goal.'

Christian Horner exit doesn't affect my Red Bull future

Max Verstappen says Christian Horner's sudden dismissal does not guarantee his future at Red Bull. Horner will not be at a Formula One race for the first time in two decades for this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix after he was 'released' as team principal and CEO 16 days ago. His departure came 17 months after he was accused by a female staff member of 'inappropriate behaviour'. The 51-year-old, who oversaw 14 world championships, always denied the claims and was twice exonerated. Christian Horner left his role as Red Bull team principal earlier this month (David Davies/PA) The allegations coincided with a slump in Red Bull's form, with Verstappen taking just four victories from his last 26 appearances. He is 69 points off the championship pace at the midway stage of the season. Verstappen's father Jos claimed back in March of last year that Red Bull would 'explode' if Horner was not moved on, and it had been speculated that Horner's dismissal was a power play by the Verstappen camp. But when asked if Horner's exit will affect whether he stays beyond this season, Verstappen said: 'No, it doesn't really. 'People can have a difference of opinion, and I actually expect that to happen because if everyone always agrees, there is a problem. 'We work in a different direction, I'm excited about it, but I don't think it will matter at all for my decision in the future. The last one and a half years have not been what we want to be. Now we will try and be more competitive.' Verstappen, 27, has a contract with Red Bull until 2028, although a performance-related clause could activate an early release. Mercedes are known to be admirers and Toto Wolff and Verstappen were recently in Sardinia. However, both parties have dismissed their respective holidays as a coincidence. Jos Verstappen said Red Bull would 'explode' if Christian Horner stayed at Red Bull (Bradley Collyer/PA) Pressed as to whether there is a possibility he will not drive for Red Bull beyond this year, four-time world champion Verstappen replied: 'There is also a possibility I don't wake up tomorrow. So then there is no driving at all. Life is unpredictable. 'But I'm very happy where I'm at. The target we set out when we signed the new deal was that I would drive here until the end of my career.' Verstappen revealed he has been in touch with Horner but said 'time will tell' whether his sudden departure is the right decision. The F1 team's parent company, Red Bull GmbH, did not specify a reason behind Horner's exit. Verstappen continued: 'Management and the shareholders decided that they wanted a change. They run the team. And I'm the driver, so whatever they decide, it's fully in their right to do what they want. 'You look back at those 20 years of Red Bull and we've had a lot of great years and great results. Management decided they wanted to steer the ship in a different direction. 'Looking back doesn't make sense. It's not going to make you faster. But at the same time, we do appreciate and remember those 20 years. And the relationship between myself and Christian doesn't change. Of course, he's not here now during a race weekend. But it's still like a second family to me.' Lewis Hamilton spoke to the media ahead of Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix (Bradley Collyer/PA) Lewis Hamilton will contest his 369th race on Sunday, but the first of his long career without rival Horner, whose shoes will be filled by Frenchman Laurent Mekies, on the Red Bull pit wall. 'I was neither surprised nor unsurprised,' said Hamilton. 'It doesn't change anything in my life. 'I sat with Christian in his office back in 2005, and I was in Formula Three and looking to go into GP2. He was with Arden. 'I wouldn't say we hit it off from the get-go but to see his progression and his career, it was clearly remarkable what he did with the team with a huge group of amazing people. 'To run an organisation that big and that well takes talent and skill and that is what he brought to the team. I wish him all the best.'

Liverpool complete signing of striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt

A deal was reached between the two clubs on Monday for the 23-year-old to join Arne Slot's Premier League champions, which the PA news agency understands to be for a guaranteed £69million plus a potential £10million in add-ons. The striker, who scored 22 goals for Frankfurt in all competitions last season, flew to England on Tuesday to undergo a medical ahead of the deal's completion and will now travel to Asia to join his new Liverpool team-mates on their pre-season tour.
