Sharjah Ruler allocates AED55.8 million to train Emirati jobseekers

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has allocated AED 55.8 million to training 1,520 local citizens under a program aimed at reducing unemployment within the Emirate.
The Sharjah Job Seekers Training and Qualification Programme will receive the trainees from July 1 until the end of the year.
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan also approved 400 new government jobs, Chairman of the Sharjah Human Resources Department Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, said. Interviews are expected to begin after Eid al-Adha and are open to those who have already completed their training.
He added the Department appointed 704 male and female citizens to government agencies from the beginning of 2025 until the end of last May, including 360 male citizens and 344 female citizens.

The project in Dibba Al Hisn alone will cost Dhs22 million. This was announced by Eng. Ibrahim Al Balgouni, Director of Natural Gas Department at Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA), in a conversation with Mohammed Al Raeesi on the Direct Line programme, broadcast on Sharjah Broadcasting Authority. The natural gas project in Dibba Al Hisn is in its final stage and covers three sectors with priority given to the residential sector followed by the industrial sector and then the commercial sector, he said. Meanwhile, as many as 1,510 benefited from the project in the northern and western districts at a cost of Dhs10 million. The internal arrangements were made to 200 villas at a cost of Dhs1.2 million and the completion rate reached 75 per cent, he added. Work is underway to build a natural gas station in Dibba Al Hisn at a cost of Dhs10 million with 90 per cent of the project complete, he said. Construction is expected to be completed by the beginning of the fourth quarter of this year, while the second phase of natural gas service delivery to the Al Doub and Al Muhallab neighborhoods in Dibba Al Hisn will be completed next year, he added. During the programme, Al Raeesi reviewed an awareness-raising material produced by Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, in co-operation with SEWA. The material explained how to protect lives and homes from natural gas leaks and the required safety measures. Earlier, a caller to the programme said she had moved to a new residence and requested community awareness on how to handle any natural gas-related emergencies.

The combined export and re-export values of registered member companies reached approximately AED11 billion in the first half of 2025, as reported by SCCI. The Chamber also issued 41,294 certificates of origin during the same period, marking a 6 percent increase compared to the previous year. This reflects SCCI's leading efforts to support the business and investment environment in the emirate of Sharjah. SCCI's certificates of origin for H1 2025 showed that Saudi Arabia topped the list of importers from Sharjah, with export and re-export values exceeding AED5.9 billion, reinforcing strong bilateral trade ties and Sharjah's position as a key supplier to Gulf markets. Oman ranked second with more than AED 1.6 billion, followed by Iraq with over AED 1.5 billion. Other prominent export destinations included Qatar, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kuwait, and India. In his remarks, Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, stated that the surge in memberships during the first half of 2025 is a testament to the growing investor confidence in Sharjah's business ecosystem. He emphasised that the emirate's favorable investment environment and its array of competitive advantages and incentives have positioned Sharjah as a major business hub and investment destination. For his part, Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI, noted that the Chamber's strong performance in H1 2025 reflects the effective rollout of its 2025–2027 strategic plan. The strategy focuses on Sharjah's economic empowerment, entrepreneurial development, private sector competitiveness, and the creation of a growth-oriented investment climate. During the first half of this year, the Sharjah Chamber remained committed to diversifying its initiatives and launching strategic economic and trade events, programs, and exhibitions aimed at advancing the emirate's ongoing economic development. The Chamber engaged in a series of business meetings with official, diplomatic, and trade delegations to foster strategic partnerships between Sharjah's private sector and global counterparts. It also facilitated targeted discussions with sectoral business groups and key entrepreneurs. As part of its efforts to expand international cooperation and open new market opportunities for Sharjah's business community, the Sharjah Chamber organized two successful trade missions to India and Mauritius the first half of 2025.
