National Lawn Bowls Squad Harvests 4 Gold, 1 Silver From Asia Championship
The excellence began in the senior category when the pair of Muhammad Soufi Rusli-Amirul Danial Abdul Rahim defeated Hong Kong's representatives 21-10 in the men's pair final to bring home the gold medal.
The momentum continued in the men's triple squad through Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple, Muhd Naufal Azmi and Muhammad Idham Amin Ramlan who beat the Thai squad 16-8 in the final.

Not only that, Malaysia also won gold in the women's singles event through Nurul Alyani Jamil after defeating host bowler Rosita Bradborn 21-11.
The national squad also brought home the silver medal in the women's four event after the home team defeated Malaysia 15-12 in the final.
For the U-25 category, Ain Nurnajwa Norhisham took home the gold after defeating Hong Kong representative Gloria Ha 21-11 in the final.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Lawn Bowls Federation (MLBF) president Datuk Awalan Abdul Aziz hopes the national squad can continue its excellent performance in the second round tomorrow.
"We are on the right track to retain the overall championship in the Asia Lawn Bowls Championship, with the hope of achieving better results than last year in Pattaya.
"I hope the national team maintains its excellent momentum and is not in a comfort zone in facing the second round which will start tomorrow," he said.

Thailand's Jeeno Thitikul reclaims No. 1 world ranking

Thitikul, 22, climbed one spot on Monday to pass Nelly Korda, who had held the No. 1 ranking since March 25, 2024. Thitikul previously earned the No. 1 position on Oct. 31, 2022, and held it for two weeks, joining Ariya Jutanugarn as the second Thai player to ascend to the top. 'I am very grateful to become the No. 1 player in the world for the second time,' Thitikul said. 'This is not just about me -- this is about my family, my team and my friends, not to mention the amazing support I feel from my fans in Thailand and all around the world. 'There are so many incredible golfers competing every week and I will work my hardest to make sure I am a strong representative of our game.' Thitikul leads the LPGA Tour with eight top-10 finishes this season, including a win at the Mizuho Americas Open in May and strong major finishes at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship (T4) in June and at last month's Amundi Evian Championship, where she lost to Grace Kim in a playoff. Thitikul finished T30 on Sunday at the AIG Women's Open. Korda placed T36 on Sunday and is still looking for her first tournament win of 2025 after collecting seven titles last year. Sprinter Azeem eyes redemption at Indian Open
KUALA LUMPUR: Sprinter Azeem Fahmi is heading to the Indian Open Athletics Championships, which starts on 10 Aug in Bhubaneswar, to make amends for his disappointing performance at last month's World University Games (WUG). The 21-year-old, who made history at the WUG by becoming the first Malaysian to reach the men's 100m final, said he was disappointed with his fourth-place finish with a time of 10.35s. "I am quite disappointed with myself because I know I could have done better," he said. "I'm not satisfied with the 10.35 that I clocked at the WUG." Azeem, the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games 100m bronze medallist, clocked his season's best of 10.20 in the United States in May. "That's why I am going back to the drawing board with my coach to be better prepared for the Indian Open. I'm looking forward to doing something special in my next outing," he said. At the WUG in Germany, Azeem also advanced to the semi-finals of the 200m event and helped the national 4x100m quartet reach the final. Azeem has not yet decided if he will compete in the Malaysian Open Athletics Championships from 29-31 Aug, as the dates clash with the start of his lectures at Auburn University in the United States. "One setback if I don't compete is that it offers ranking points," said Azeem, who holds the national 100m record of 10.09.
