
Aldi shoppers urged to look out for new green sticker on items in popular aisle
Aldi is urging shoppers to be on the lookout for a new green label in stores which has been placed in a popular aisle. Teaming up with a well-known charity, the budget supermarket is hoping to help raise funds and awareness for a good cause through this new label.
Sharing the news on TikTok, Aldi staff members have informed loyal customers that they will start seeing a new green sticker in the much-loved bakery aisle. More specifically, the viral Cuthbert the Caterpillar chocolate cakes will be donning the new label.
On this sticker, shoppers will see a number for donations to help raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, reports the Express. The charity has been in partnership with Aldi since 2017, which has pledged to raise £20million in funds by 2031.
In the caption, Aldi said: "Cuthbert has got a shiny new sticker so you can text 'ALDI3' to 70490 to donate £3 to @Teenage Cancer Trust to help support their incredible work! PS: No Cuthberts were harmed in the making of this video."
At the start of the partnership, the popular supermarket pledged to raise £5million in five years for the charity, however the goal was met in just 3.5 years. As a result, the company raised its goal to £10million by 2027.
However, once again Aldi reached its target early - nearly three years before the end date - which has left the supermarket with the new goal of double the amount by 2031.
In the comments section of the TikTok video, many shoppers praised the supermarket for their support for the charity. The official Teenage Cancer Trust account also replied: "Love this addition to Cuthbert. Thank you so much for your continued support."
The goal of the charity is to "reach every young person with cancer", which makes funding vital. However, raising money isn't the only way Aldi supports the charity. They currently provide monthly Aldi vouchers to all 28 units, which allows funded staff to put on events and provide snacks for the young people staying there.
Additionally, there is the Aldi Rainbow Fund which provides families who are struggling financially with vouchers and an emergency stop gap until they can gain further support.
As of right now, Aldi has raised a whopping £12million for Teenage Cancer Trust, and they hope that this new green label initiative will help provide an extra financial boost.
Liz Fox, national sustainability director at Aldi UK, said: "At Aldi, we ensure quality food is available at everyday low prices as we believe it shouldn't be the right of a privileged few – and we feel the same about specialist care for young people facing cancer.
"That's why we're extremely proud to be in partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust since 2017, pledging to raise £20 million by 2031.
"We are incredibly pleased to have consistently reached every fundraising milestone earlier than planned, more recently celebrating the £12 million milestone in July 2025. By committing to our charity partnership, we can make a truly tangible impact and help ensure Teenage Cancer Trust can reach the seven young people diagnosed with cancer every day."
Chief executive at Teenage Cancer Trust, Kate Collins also said: "The impact of this funding cannot be underestimated. Without Aldi's support of Teenage Cancer Trust's vital work, many young people would have faced cancer alone.
"Cancer kills more teenagers and young adults in the UK than any other disease. And for those who survive, going through it without the right support can be devastating, physically and emotionally.
"Thanks to Aldi, young people with cancer across the UK have received tailored support from our specialist nurses, youth support teams and hospital units that's helped them hold on to their identity, independence, and their dreams."

Money-saving website TopCashback offers all new members a free £15 signup bonus for any purchase over £15 alongside a percentage cashback on spends from any qualifying website, including Cartwright & Butler. This means shoppers can effectively snag a tin of the treats for £2.85 after cashback is paid. Chocoholics on social media praise Dubai chocolate for its mix of gooey pistachio cream with crunchy knafeh, also known as kadayif - or finely shredded filo pastry - which pairs with the chocolate to make the ultimate crunchy yet creamy taste. The hype around the foodie sensation has sparked huge interest from British shoppers and the trend is definitely going anywhere yet, with several other brands joining Cartwright & Butler in launching pistachio-heavy treats this month. Bakery Cutter and Squidge have unveiled a reimagining of one of their best-sellers, Dubai chocolate biskies . Usually £28.99, a box of six is currently reduced to £21.75 and can be ordered for delivery nationwide. The brand's signature sweet treat, a biskie is a cross between a cake and a cookie and this version includes velvety pistachio cream sandwiched between rich chocolate layers and is a moreish but delicious take on the trend. Elsewhere, Tesco shoppers can also pick up a pack of biscuit brand Fox's limited edition take on the viral sensation for £2.65 in their weekly shop from this weekend - with Foodtok fans already pointing them out in stores. Available nationwide for the next six weeks, the Dubai style pistachio cream chocolate biscuits have a buttery cocoa shortcake base, a nutty interior and are layered with crumbled biscuit to get a knafeh-style crunch. As someone who has always loved pistachio, I have a personal as well as professional interest in the rise of all these nut-laden treats since Dubai chocolate became a social media sensation. I've also tried plenty of them along the way, ranging from Lindt's Dubai style offering to M&S' Big Daddy Pistachio bar through to more authentic options picked up from Harrods' food hall on a recent trip to London. These Cartwright and Butler truffles are so new out that, despite them launching on Moonpig , Amazon and the brand's website directly, there are no customer reviews available yet. However, after I spotted Good Housekeeping describing them as a 'Dubai chocolate game-changer' I had to give them a try, alongside several other pistachio-themed treats, and I wasn't disappointed. Cartwright and Butler are my go-to for foodie gifts, especially at Christmas, when their mix of great flavours and beautiful tins and presentation makes them well-priced options that look luxe without breaking the bank. These truffles tick both boxes in exactly the same way and are the perfect gift option for the chocoholic in your life. Some recent takes on Dubai chocolate get the ratios wrong, with Lindt being the perfect example. While shoppers have snapped up the bars in their thousands, to the extent the brand had to impose a two-bar limit on online sales, some fans have complained the bars are too thin to get a real taste of the pistachio creme sandwiched between layers of chocolate. Cartwright and Butler's truffles , in comparison, have a thick coating of chocolate outside but are densely packed with knafeh and pistachio inside, giving them a flavourful and crunchy kick that makes them one of my favourite pistachio treats of the year - and a new gifting option for friends and family, especially as something a bit different for Christmas. Edinburgh distillery to produce Aldi's gin 'that celebrates the Scottish spirit'
The distillery will make Aldi's Toradh Gin and add six new flavours, starting at £13.99 Summerhall Distillery in Edinburgh has been named as the latest Scottish producer to join Aldi's growing line-up of local suppliers and will now exclusively produce the supermarket's popular Toradh Gin range. The award-winning distillery, which operates from the repurposed old dog kennels of the former Royal (Dick) Vet School, is best known for its signature Pickering's Gin, Edinburgh Live reports. First launched in 2013, Pickering's is based on a handwritten Bombay recipe from 1947 and helped put the capital back on the UK's gin map. In a new deal with Aldi Scotland, Summerhall Distillery will now take on production of the retailer's Toradh Gin collection and introduce six new flavour expressions to the range, with prices starting at £13.99. The gin will form a core part of Aldi's premium spirits offering. Matt Gammell, co-founder of Summerhall Distillery, said: 'We're absolutely thrilled to be working with Aldi Scotland as part of its commitment to championing local producers. "As one of Edinburgh's earliest gin distilleries in recent years, we've watched the industry flourish and are proud to be part of such a dynamic Scottish drinks scene. Why businesses need to take pride in EDI policies
Equality, diversity and inclusion policies and practices aren't just a 'tick box exercise' for businesses – they can promote better decision-making, attract talent, prevent serious legal troubles, improve productivity and build a culture of respect. TikTok, Instagram and many social media pages are filled with creators ridiculing businesses for getting it wrong during Pride by being patronising, profiting from the movement and rainbow-washing. A key consideration for employers is whether their outward image represents what is going on internally within their business. Employers should avoid performative gestures, such as putting up a Pride flag without aligning internal policies and instead invest in genuine inclusivity policies and practices that reinforce a culture of respect for all protected characteristics. We are seeing a growing sensitivity around language and identity, something that has pertinence during events like Pride where people must be careful using reclaimed language in the workplace. What do we mean by 'reclaimed language?' Well, terms like "queer" may be empowering to some but discomforting to others. Stick with inclusive, respectful language and consult your HR and legal advisors before publishing public-facing Pride content. And don't forget what the flag stands for and how it can bring peace and a sense of security and safety to those within the community. Those who question the need for Pride in the workplace, or wider society, demonstrate the need for the movement. Given the current political climate and increased scrutiny on LGBTQ+ rights, Pride events can be emotionally challenging for some people. Employers should promote existing support systems, such as mental health first aid. In addition, employers should provide training to staff (including management) on the characteristics protected under the Equality Act 2010 with a view to preventing marginalisation in the workplace and preventing discrimination, harassment and victimisation. It's important that employers equip their staff to navigate any potential tensions and opposing beliefs with respect and professionalism. Training from qualified professionals on harassment prevention, equality law and inclusive communication helps organisations avoid liability and fosters a more cohesive workforce. Employers should be adopting a zero-tolerance approach to harassment and victimisation, and ensuring management and staff fully understand what is and isn't acceptable behaviour at work. Workplace cultures should be inclusive and sometimes the best way to establish that is by engaging with external advisers, having a change of scene, and taking proactive measures to mitigate risks before they arise – not just during Pride month but all year round.
