In Miami, Florida, Teddy Bridgewater is making headlines again. Not for his
NFL
career, but for what he did as a high school coach. Teddy Bridgewater was suspended from his coaching position at Miami Northwestern Senior High School on July 14, 2025.
The only reason: He paid for rides, meals, and recovery services for his student-athletes during the 2024 season, in effort to help kids and that's it.
That same act earned a suspension from an athletic department. However, instead of being condemned by the public or football world, Teddy Bridgewater is being applauded by NFL players, coaches, and fans across America.
Teddy Bridgewater suspended after helping student-athletes with personal funds
Miami Northwestern High School publicly announced the suspension of Teddy Bridgewater, 32, when he discovered that he had been suspended for saying that he financially supported the team.
The public announcement of his suspension from the team took place on July 14, 2025, after the FHSAA investigated and went through all of the proper protocol.

Teddy Bridgewater gave his players Uber rides, food before games, and recovery tools, and he paid for all of these things personally out of his own pocket. He stated these things on Facebook, saying,'I've always done what's right for the kids. I don't regret a thing.'
Although not officially on school payroll, he was still suspended for violating the FHSAA's rules on providing benefits. Bridgewater had led the team to a state title in 2024 and returned to the NFL with the Detroit Lions for the 2023 season. His coaching role was something he took seriously, often calling it his 'real purpose' after football.

Following the suspension, many NFL figures stood up for Teddy Bridgewater. Former wide receiver Chad Johnson posted on X,
'That's not a violation, that's love.'
Robert Griffin III also said,
'You don't punish love and leadership.'
Shannon Sharpe called the punishment a
'slippery slope,'
warning that rules like this could stop athletes from giving back to their communities.
Fans online also defended Teddy Bridgewater. One comment read,
'How can helping kids ever be wrong?'
On social media, hashtags like #LetTeddyCoach started trending. Though suspended, Teddy Bridgewater shared that he still plans to support the team however he can even from the stands.

IND vs ENG Tests: India look a settled unit despite heartbreak at Lord's, trailing the series

Shoaib Bashir of England celebrates dismissing Mohammed Siraj of India to win the match during Day Five of the 3rd Test at Lord's Cricket Ground (Photo by) London : India have suffered two heartbreaks on this tour. The first one, in the first Test in Headingley, led to sleepless nights and plenty of discussion about finding the right balance in the playing XI. After the Lord's defeat, though, the Indian team looks more composed and settled. The next Test match in Manchester is still eight days away but don't expect the Indian team to get desperate in its preparation. The team has been given a break for a couple of days before they have one solitary practice session at the Kent County ground here in Beckenham on Thursday. Preparations will only begin in earnest once the team reaches Manchester on Sunday. India captain Shubman Gill wore a straight face when he was asked if he believed he had a settled playing XI. 'I would say I have a settled XII. And then you see which XI you would want to go for according to the situation and the wicket,' Gill said on Monday. Jasprit Bumrah's availability in back-to-back matches is, however, in doubt. Bumrah opted to sit out of the Edgbaston Test but Gill and the team management have been clear about the alternative for Bumrah — Akash Deep came in at Edgbaston, picked up a 10-wicket haul and retained his place at Lord's. Prasidh Krishna sat out when Bumrah returned. India vs England: India fall short at Lord's, England lead series 2-1 The management isn't too concerned about Mohammed Siraj's workload. Washington Sundar too has responded exceedingly well, lending solidity to the batting at No. 8 and picking up four wickets in the second innings at Lord's. Karun Nair to get one more opportunity? The two players who have struggled to cement their places are Karun Nair and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Nair has got off to starts and set good foundations up the order in the last two Tests while batting at No. 3. Reddy showed some fight with the bat in the last innings at Lord's but his batting has been anything but convincing. His bowling has given the team crucial breakthroughs, though. As for Nair, one believes the team management could give him one more shot at scoring big in this series before deciding to move on. Poll Do you believe India will bounce back in the upcoming Test match in Manchester? Yes, they will win No, they will lose It will be a draw Before the win at Edgbaston, Gill had said he wanted enough bowling options and a longer batting lineup. It seems he has found the sweet spot. He was assertive when he said that he was proud of the effort his team had put in during the third Test. There must have been disappointment in that dressing room after Lord's but there are unlikely to be any scars. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!

UEFA Women's Euro 2025: Norway's Ada Hegerberg feeling positive ahead of quarter-final vs Italy

Ada Hegerberg of Norway looks on during the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 Group A match between Norway and Finland on July 06, 2025 in Switzerland (Photo by) There's been no stopping Ada Hegerberg since she began playing top-division football at the age of 15. And ahead of Norway's Euro quarterfinal against Italy on Wednesday, the captain, in a freewheeling chat with TOI, spoke about her dreams for a title with the national team and her continuous work for women's equality. Excerpts: A trophy with Norway has evaded you so far. Do you think the Euros can change that? We reached the final in 2013. We are in a better position to do that now after winning three games. I feel very positive going into this quarterfinal. What are going to be the challenges for your team against Italy in the quarters? We respect Italy a lot. They've had good results coming into the Euro, so no game is going to be easy. But at the same time, we must go into the game believing in our abilities. You have been a spokesperson for equal rights and pay for women's footballers. Do you think a lot has been achieved in that respect? I would say that development has been incredible. But it's always about making sure that we take the next step in the right direction. What has been the most memorable moment in your decorated career? I feel very lucky. It's hard to pick one. All those Champions League finals have been some of the best memories. Scoring a hat-trick in a Champions League final is unheard of. And, at the same time, representing Norway is a huge thing for me. Being a top footballer who is also an activist for the women's game, do you believe activism and professional football go hand in hand? I think I realised quite a long time ago that being a woman's footballer and not fighting for equality is impossible. I think it's a challenge because it brings a lot of responsibility. But it's totally worth it. I see the change and the impact we can have. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!

'He would have thrived': Australia captain on India's missing player on England tour; on 'hostile' environment at Lord's

Alyssa Healy of Australia poses with the trophy after winning the Women's Ashes Test Match between Australia and England on February 01, 2025 in Australia (Photo by) India were forced to admit defeat at the hands of a relentless England bowling attack on Monday at Lord's. The hosts, charged by their skipper Ben Stokes and the blistering deliveries of Jofra Archer, made sure that India fell short of the 193-run target to take a 2-1 lead in the series. The win for England means that India are now faced with a must-win situation in the 4th Test. Looking back at India's defeat in a game that saw Gautam Gambhir's men play impressive cricket for a significant part of the game, Australia women's team captain Alyssa Healy made a cutting remark on the Indian team. Speaking on the "Willow Talk" podcast alongside Adam Peacock, the skipper reminded India what they've been missing and it was no surprise that Virat Kohli 's name came up. The former Indian skipper and No 3 called time on his red-ball career shortly before the squad was announced for the Test series against England. While his retirement did not take center stage in the first two Tests in the series given India's sublime batting, the defeat in the 3rd, which saw India fail to chase the 193-run target highlighted what the side was missing, according to Healy. Virat Kohli on why did he retire from Test cricket: 'It's time when you...' "I probably shouldn't say this for the sake of the current Indian team, but it made me miss Virat Kohli a little bit, because I would imagine him absolutely thriving in that environment, trying to save a Test match. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Get ₹2Cr life cover@ ₹700 p.m. ICICI Pru Life Insurance Plan Get Quote Undo He would have been absolutely frothing to be a part of that," said Healy. The Test at Lord's birthed several tense and heated moments between the two sides, with sarcastic jibes, passionate celebrations and raging comments taking the spotlight. India skipper Shubman Gill lost his cool to England opener Zak Crawley for his time-wasting tactics, saying "Get some balls, show f---ing balls!" Poll Do you think India can bounce back in the 4th Test against England? Yes, they will win! No, they will lose Gill too, was taken aim at, when Ben Duckett sarcastically said that he has made 600 runs in the series and won't be scoring any more. The India captain had a rather subdued performance with the bat, scoring just 16 and 6 over the two innings. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!
