Rakhee Gulzar opens up about returning to acting with 'Aamar Boss,' cites disconnect from cultural roots
Veteran actress
Rakhee Gulzar
opened up about her decision to return to acting with the upcoming Bengali film "Aamar Boss."
She explained that the project allowed her to reconnect with the
cultural roots
that she felt had been lost over time. The Soldier actress revealed that the story deeply resonated with her from the moment she first heard it. Rakhee also expressed concern about the growing disconnect with cultural roots in today's society. She spoke about how, in modern times, relationships have become increasingly superficial, with technology taking over the deeper, more meaningful connections that once defined families and communities.
Speaking about her return,
Gulzar
shared, "Aamar Boss is a story that touched my heart from the very first narration. I agreed to do this film only because I could strongly relate with the story. Today, we have lost touch with our culture, our roots, everything has become superficial. I come from a background where everyone was closely knitted, seeing today's generation where technology has taken over relationships worries me. Some relationships are so pure that they transcend age, time, and distance, that's what this film beautifully captures."
Director and writer
Shiboprosad Mukherjee
added, "The entire
Bengali film industry
is grateful to Rakhee didi for being a part of this beautiful film. It's an absolute honour to have her on board. Apart from this, would like to thank Shaan Dada for lending his voice. 'Aamar Boss,' isn't your regular film, the film humanises the ruthless corporate culture. Amidst all the layoffs, a film where humans and human relationships are prioritised is really needed. As Nandita didi mentioned, films like Aamar Boss are need it the hour."
The makers of Aamar Boss recently unveiled the film's trailer on social media, giving audiences a glimpse of Rakhee Gulzar in a deeply heartwarming role. The trailer highlights her portrayal of a character that beautifully embodies the themes of love, tradition, and connection. Alongside her, Shiboprosad Mukherjee delivers a moving performance as a son grappling with love, duty, and unspoken emotions.
The film is set to release on 9th May 2025, just ahead of Mother's Day week.

A source told the portal that Simran's entry in the show will bring an exciting factor, adding an intriguing twist to the current track of the show. Ever since its premiere last year, Advocate Anjali Awasthi has been one of the fans' favourite shows, thanks to its compelling narrative. Alongside Shritama Mitra, Ankit Raizada also played the lead role in the show and won hearts with his compelling and bold performance. Why Are People Calling Jeff Bezos, Lauren Sanchez's $50 Million Wedding 'Cheap'?
Last Updated: The wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez was estimated to be $50 million (Rs 427 crore) with mega Hollywood stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Sydney Sweeney. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife and former news anchor, Lauren Sanchez, had an ultra-luxurious wedding in Venice, complete with big Hollywood names and Venice's most exclusive hotels. However, the wedding is now drawing accusations of being 'cheap". With one of the world's most enchanting cities as the backdrop, the three-day affair was dubbed the 'Wedding of the Century". The cost of breakfast alone was 1,000 euros per head (Rs 1 lakh and above). Bezos and Sanchez stayed at the Aman hotel, a luxury 16th-century palazzo on the Grand Canal with a view of the Rialto bridge. However, according to a source with the Daily Mail, the experience for many guests was not so luxurious as advertised. 'What people won't know from the pictures is how exhausting and full-on it was for the guests." 'Hassles' For Guests 'The heat didn't help but people were forever needing to get around Venice, which means by boat, and that was a hassle and took ages, and there were a lot of people who all needed to get to the same place at the same time," the sources said. 'People were complaining about being completely tired by the time of the wedding day, never mind the day after," the source added. Notably, the grand wedding had drawn protests and stirred controversy in the city. A group called 'No Space for Bezos" has plastered banners across Venice. They aimed to highlight concerns over overtourism and its impact on the city. People also criticised the grey carpet, which was dubbed 'industrial". A social media user wrote, 'Everybody's talking abt the outfits but can we talk abt the millennial grey hellscape carpet pls? $50M and they chose to look like your local HR Block went overboard for Mother's Day?" 'I need to know why Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez chose to get married on a grey office carpet," another person said. First Published:
