BENTONG – Police have yet to receive any reports following viral claims that a man was sexually harassed by a balloon seller in Genting Highlands.
Bentong district police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the three-minute and eight-second video was uploaded by the individual on the social media platform TikTok.
According to Zaiham, police detected the video clip at around 10.30pm on Tuesday.
'Initial investigations found that no police report had been lodged as of Wednesday regarding the incident.
'We urge the owner of the TikTok account to come forward to the Bentong District Police Headquarters (IPD) to assist with the investigation,' he said in a statement on Wednesday. Bentong district police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar.
Earlier, in the video posted by the TikTok user, the individual claimed to have been approached by a man, a vendor offering free balloons, who then invited him to a room to give him food.
Once in the room, the individual alleged that the vendor offered him fried bananas and asked him to show something believed to be his private parts in exchange for RM50, but he managed to escape.
Zaiham added that initial checks on the TikTok account also revealed that the individual had claimed to be a victim of similar incidents and crimes at other locations.
'If I find any elements of falsehood in the claims, police will not hesitate to take action.
'Public safety is not a matter to be taken lightly, as such actions can create negative perceptions and public unease,' he said.
He also urged anyone who has experienced similar incidents to come forward or contact the nearest police station.
'The public is encouraged to lodge a report if they have been victims so that a thorough investigation can be conducted,' he added.

Child psychologist clears Zayn Rayyan's parents of neglect claims
PETALING JAYA: A child psychologist testified in court that the late Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin had not been neglected or abused, countering allegations against his parents. Dr Noor Aishah Rosli, founder of CPC International psychology clinic, reviewed medical reports from Selayang and Sungai Buloh Hospitals, finding no evidence of mistreatment. 'The reports show no indication of neglect or abuse,' Dr Noor Aishah stated during the trial of Ismanira Abdul Manaf, who faces child neglect charges. The psychologist clarified that neglect must be consistent over time to be classified as such, citing guidelines from the American Psychiatric Association (APA). She explained that occasional lapses, such as a missed meal due to a guardian's illness, do not constitute neglect. However, prolonged deprivation—such as a child consistently being left to find their own food—could qualify. Regarding the amended charge against Ismanira, Dr Noor Aishah noted the wording 'likely' introduces uncertainty, as it does not definitively prove physical injury occurred. Perak Sultan's office denies fake royal wedding claims in viral TikTok video
IPOH: The Office of the Sultan of Perak has denied claims of an upcoming royal wedding after a misleading TikTok video went viral. A police report was filed on July 31 to address the false information. Comptroller of the Perak Royal Household Meor Hezbullah Meor Abd Malik confirmed that no royal wedding or live broadcast is scheduled for August 7. He stated, 'The Office of His Royal Highness neither recognises nor is connected to the TikTok account owner and has not appointed anyone as an official spokesperson for palace events, including royal weddings.'
