CIANJUR – A total of 42 female public servants under the Government Employee with Work Agreement (PPPK) scheme in Cianjur, West Java, have reportedly filed for divorce from their husbands after receiving their official appointment letters as civil servants.
This phenomenon has drawn public attention, particularly in the education sector, as most of the women involved are primary school teachers, according to a report by WartaKotalive.com.
Out of about 3,000 teachers who received their PPPK appointment decrees this year, 30 women have filed for divorce in court, while 12 more cases are in the final stages of legal proceedings.
Cianjur Office of Youth, Sports and Education (Disdikpora) Head, Ruhli, revealed that most of the divorce petitions came from the women.
'The majority of those filing for divorce are women,' he said recently.
Ruhli clarified that the appointments as permanent civil servants have given many women financial independence, as they had previously served on contract or relied solely on their husbands' income.
'The main factor is economic. Once they have a fixed and more stable income through PPPK, they feel confident enough to make the decision to separate,' he said.
A similar trend was reported in Blitar Regency, East Java, where the Blitar Education Office recorded at least 20 female teachers filing for divorce in recent months, a sharp increase compared to 15 cases throughout 2024.
Blitar Primary School Management Division Head, Deny Setyawan confirmed the rise and linked it to the teachers' new status as permanent PPPK civil servants.
'This surge is closely related to their change in employment status from contract teachers to permanent PPPK employees,' he said.
According to Deny, with better financial stability, they feel more confident about making major decisions in their married lives.
'Although the official reason is usually 'irreconcilable differences', the strengthening of their economic position is clearly the underlying factor,' he stated.
Deny also said his office has no authority to prevent any divorce actions taken by teachers under the PPPK scheme.
'It is a personal right within the institution of marriage. Our responsibility is only to ensure that all legal processes and civil service procedures are complied with,' he said.

Texas Deputy Said on TikTok She Was Sexually Frustrated — and Ready to Ticket Everyone
The uniformed Harris County sheriff's deputy filmed herself joking about issuing more citations after not having sex and now internal affairs is reviewing the clipNEED TO KNOW A Harris County sheriff's deputy said 'everyone is getting a ticket' after she 'didn't get cracked" — slang for having sex, in a now-deleted video Internal affairs launched a probe after the video spread widely on TikTok, though no disciplinary action has been announced The deputy in question was identified by the Houston Chronicle and AOL as Jennifer Escalera, hired by the department in 2021A Texas sheriff's deputy is under investigation after posting a viral TikTok suggesting she might write more traffic tickets because she 'didn't get cracked' the night before — which is slang for having sex. The now-deleted clip shows a uniformed Harris County deputy writing in a notepad beneath the caption: 'Didn't get cracked last night so everyone is getting a ticket…' Her name tag was visible, and though parts of her badge were blurred, the department confirmed that internal affairs had opened an investigation, according to Fox 26 and the Houston Chronicle. In a statement obtained by Fox 26, the Precinct 5 Constable's Office said: 'Our administration is aware and internal affairs has opened an investigation. We have no other comment at this time." The deputy has not been officially named by the department, but the Chronicle and AOL identified her as Jennifer Escalera, who reportedly joined the Harris County Constable's Office in September 2021. Her TikTok account, now deleted, included multiple other in-uniform videos — including ones about motherhood and working in law enforcement — though it's unclear whether those are part of the current investigation, according to AOL and the Houston Chronicle. Escalera's TikTok account, under the handle @ reportedly featured a number of videos in which she appeared in uniform before it was taken down. While some clips blurred her badge, her name tag remained visible — raising questions about departmental policy and professionalism in public-facing posts, per the Chronicle. "It's very unprofessional," a Precinct 5 resident told Fox 26. "You shouldn't be doing things like that. When you're a professional, you carry yourself a certain way. What you do outside of work is cool, but I don't think she should've done that." "It makes them look unprofessional when they start posting videos like that," another resident, Alex Fitch, told the outlet. "You can't take them seriously. Then they wonder why, when you see them, they say, 'Why don't you respect me?' or 'Why are you talking to me like that?' Well, you don't treat yourself like a woman, and you ain't treating yourself like a police officer." The department did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and has not confirmed whether Escalera remains on active duty during the review. No disciplinary actions have been announced, and the scope of the internal probe remains unclear — including whether it extends to the deputy's other TikTok content. Florida officials warn about risks of raw milk after 21 people sickened
The Florida Department of Health is warning about the risks of drinking raw, unpasteurized milk after 21 people, including six children under the age of 10, were sickened by E. coli and campylobacter bacteria linked to raw milk from the same farm. Seven people have been hospitalized, and two have developed severe complications. "Sanitation practices in this farm are of particular concern due to the number of cases," the department said in a news release. Officials did not identify the farm, but indicated its products were available in Northeast and Central Florida. CBS News has reached out to the health department for more information. Although it is illegal to sell raw milk for human consumption in Florida, it can be sold in the state if it's labeled as a pet food. Raw milk has been promoted by online wellness influencers and raw food advocates, boosting sales in recent years, but public health officials say it can be risky. The Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say raw milk can carry life-threatening bacteria, such as E. coli, campylobacter, listeria or salmonella. These can cause symptoms including diarrhea, vomiting and stomach cramps. Severe cases can result in a condition called hemolytic uremic syndrome, or HUS, which can lead to kidney failure. Since 1987, 143 outbreaks have been linked to raw milk or raw milk products, some involving miscarriages, stillbirths, kidney failure and even deaths, according to the FDA. Pasteurization — a process of heating the milk — kills these bacteria. Pasteurization is required by federal law for any milk sold across state lines. Some individual states also restrict or ban the sale of raw milk, but others allow it. In an interview with CBS News Miami earlier this year, Mark McAfee, founder of one of the world's largest raw milk producers and head of an advocacy group called the Raw Milk Institute, claimed raw milk offers health benefits such as bioactives that boost the immune system. McAfee sells his raw milk legally in California, where no state law prohibits its sale. But the CDC says such claims are unfounded. "Pasteurized milk offers the same nutritional benefits without the risks of raw milk consumption," the agency says. The Florida Department of Health noted in its statement that "many people consume raw milk safely." But it also advised, "Floridians should be aware of potential risks associated with consumption, which may vary depending on the source of producer's handling of raw milk and milking procedures are vital in prevention of contamination."
