Yorkshire skittle Essex to climb off foot of table
Jonny Bairstow's side skittled their visitors for 131 in their second innings at Clifton Park, York.
Essex resumed on 3-33 on the final day but were unable to set any sort of target, with Jack White taking 4-37 as Yorkshire eased to the 41 runs needed.
That left the hosts chasing 41 in the fourth innings to seal victory, which they did for the loss of no wickets.
Elsewhere in Division One, the run-fest in the opening days of the matches meant that the four other fixtures ended in a draw.
Centuries for Emilio Gay and Alex Lees ensured Durham survived against Surrey, who had amassed a mammoth 820 in their first innings.
The visitors were made to follow on early on day four, but Gay and Lees ensured they finished on 262 for no wicket in their second innings.
Nottinghamshire were unable to force victory against Somerset, who finished 4-238 in their second innings, while Hampshire batted the day out against Hampshire.
It was also a stalemate between Sussex and Warwickshire, who were 4-260 when the bails were removed.
In Division Two, Lancashire secured their first win of the season with a thumping 261-run win at Derbyshire.
The hosts resumed day four on 3-139, chasing an ambitious 513 to win, but lost steady wickets throughout the day.
Captain Wayne Madsen finished 95 not out as wickets fell around him, with George Balderson claiming 4-54 and Tom Bailey 3-39.
Gloucestershire survived against Glamorgan, finishing on 7-255 .
Kent clung on to earn a draw against Northamptonshire, who declared on 6-722 in their first innings, after edging past the 157 needed for their opponents to bat again before shaking hands shortly after when on 8-160.

Hull FC home issues resurface with Giants loss

They would have leapfrogged Wakefield Trinity into the sixth and final spot, but were well beaten at MKM Stadium. They have now won only one of their eight home games this season - a record that is seriously harming their play-off prospects. Tries from Adam Swift, Joe Greenwood and Jake Bibby put the visitors in a commanding half-time lead. Scores after the break from George Flanagan and Tui Lolohea confirmed the win, despite a hat-trick for Hull winger Lewis Martin. The Giants remain 11th despite the victory, but they have won three of their past five away games. Huddersfield had been hammered by Wakefield last time out, but showed fine early defence to deny Harvey Barron and then Davy Litten from scoring tries in the corners. Then Swift capitalised on his side's first good field position to put them ahead. Martin's first try got Hull on the board, but two tries in three minutes allowed the Giants to take control. Greenwood touched down after a fine little kick from Matt Frawley, before Bibby took advantage of loose play between Aidan Sezer and Jordan Rapana to run in from inside his own half. Flanagan's try and goal extended the gap to 20 points early in the second period although Martin reduced that with his second try, but Lolohea powered over straight after to restore the cushion. Martin's final try was the pick of the game which allowed some fine footwork and handling involving him and Litten, but Hull's performance was a far cry from the one which had won at Wigan Warriors seven days ago. Hull FC head coach John Cartwright told BBC Radio Humberside: "We never really got into the game. It wasn't a game you wanted to be coming from behind and chasing points. "To their credit, they got in front, they got the jump on us and were good enough to stay in front. I thought Huddersfield played really well today. (On difference from last week at Wigan): "Very frustrating, very much so. Errors again were through the roof. "That's the story of the game. Too many errors and too many soft tries. A week off coming this week may be coming at the right time." Huddersfield Giants head coach Luke Robinson told BBC Radio Leeds: "It's never nice going into a break on the back of a loss so I'm really proud of the lads. "I thought we were on an upward trajectory the past four or five weeks and the Wakefield loss felt like a step backwards. "We had some honest conversations and if I didn't get a response, I would have felt like something was wrong. "Thankfully for me, the club, everyone involved, the lads responded really, really well." England ready to meet challenge of 'fantastic' Spain in Euro 2025 final
England captain Leah Williamson admits that Spain are "the best at what they do" but is confident her side can compete with the reigning world champions in Sunday's Euro 2025 final. "Tomorrow we play a game against the world champions who continue to prove themselves over and over in the way that they play football," Williamson told reporters at Basel's St Jakob-Park on the eve of the game. "They are a fantastic footballing team, they are the best at what they do, and we are very much aware of that but we think we are pretty good in some areas as well. "We need to be at our best to beat Spain but I think they will need to be at their best to beat us too. "I think there is a lot of respect between the two teams, and I'd be hesitant to say we are underdogs in this scenario." England are hoping to retain the European Championship title they won on home soil in 2022, but the match is also a repeat of the 2023 World Cup final, in which Spain triumphed 1-0 in Sydney. There is a growing rivalry between the nations, with England winning in extra time when they clashed in the quarter-finals at Euro 2022. The sides have also already faced each other twice this year in the UEFA Nations League, with England winning 1-0 at Wembley in February. Spain avenged that result by claiming a 2-1 victory in Barcelona at the beginning of last month, when Claudia Pina scored twice after Alessia Russo had given England the lead. "We have played each other a lot over the last couple of years and I think you always have learnings from the games we have played," said England coach Sarina Wiegman. "Tomorrow is a new situation where we have an opportunity to hopefully take out their strengths a bit and exploit some of their weaknesses too." England have been sweating on the fitness of Lauren James for the final after she came off with an ankle injury during the last-four win over Italy, but Wiegman indicated that the winger is in line to feature on Sunday.
