Luka Doncic Blamed for Ending LeBron James' Era in Los Angeles
There is never a dull moment in Los Angeles. As one of the most historic franchises in the NBA, the Lakers are always under the microscope. The franchise is set to change owners in a $10 billion transaction, while on the court, the Lakers are entering a new era with superstar guard Luka Doncic at the controls.

Doncic becoming the leading man in LA means that LeBron James is a supporting actor for the first time in his legendary career. The four-time NBA champion picked up his player option to return to the Lakers next season, but agent Rich Paul has made it clear that James will be watching to see which corresponding moves the team makes in free agency.
As the Lakers move forward into a new era with Doncic at the helm, James seems to be contemplating the possibility that his record-breaking career could end with another franchise. And according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps, this is perhaps the best-case scenario for the Lakers.
"The moment the Lakers made that trade, the LeBron James era in Los Angeles ended," Bontemps said Wednesday on "First Take."

Once the Lakers completed the Doncic deal with the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 2, general manager Rob Pelinka's next move was to acquire a springy center who could play with Doncic. And even though the Lakers did not like the medical report on the Charlotte Hornets' Mark Williams, the message was clear: Los Angeles was no longer building around James and his skillset.
"The fact that (James) is on an expiring contract, that's the best thing that the Lakers could have," Bontemps said. "What matters to them is making sure Luka Doncic has his priorities set, not LeBron James."
Beginning next month, Doncic can sign a four-year extension in Los Angeles worth $229 million, or he can hit the market as a coveted free agent in 2026. Given that the Lakers are building their team around him, it stands to reason that Doncic will look favorably on the extension - and, perhaps, cast James' future with the franchise into further doubt.

Jordan Love debate sparks backlash against Fox Sports co-host
Jordan Love debate sparks backlash against Fox Sports co-host originally appeared on Athlon Sports. During the NFL offseason, hot takes continue to circulate about the league's star quarterbacks, including the Green Bay Packers' Jordan Love. Expectations are still high for the QB, who is following in the footsteps of Super Bowl winners Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. Advertisement Love is entering his third season as the Packers' starter, and there have been constant comparisons between him and others at the position. One of the most recent involved a debate stirred up involving his NFC North rival, the Chicago Bears' young star Caleb Williams. The initial take arrived from Pro Football Focus and suggested that the ceiling for Williams is Love. However, a more recent take on Fox Sports' First Things First stirred up fans who blasted the critic for his remarks. Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Hartline-Imagn Images While appearing on the show, FS1's Danny Jankins delivered a surprising take in which he suggested Williams is better than Love. Yes, that's what he said. Advertisement "How bout this? Caleb better than Jordan Love. How bout that?" Parkins asked First Things First's Kevin Wildes and Chris Broussard. "Jordan Love has played the majority of two seasons. Both of those seasons, double-digit interceptions," Parkins said, adding, "Caleb Williams played 17 games last year, had six [interceptions]." Broussard and Wildes immediately disagreed with Parkins' take. However, he persisted, indicating that Williams "took too many sacks" and "the offensive line was playing guys who were on other teams' practice squads at the beginning of the year." PFF's floor for Caleb Williams was "bust," which Parkins argued is "off the table." Advertisement "If you watched Caleb Williams, there's no earthly way you could believe that that guy is gonna bust," he said, referencing his impressive touchdown-to-interception ratio. Broussard said that he doesn't think Williams will be a bust, but he needs to be "very good this year," and if he struggles this year, then "bust is on the table." Parkins' remarks about Williams and Love stirred up plenty of fans who fired away at him in the YouTube video's comments. "I am aware that the teams are different, but before we begin Jordan-love analogies, Caleb must qualify for the playoffs," one commenter wrote. "Hard to listen to Parkins talk about football," another YouTube comment said. Advertisement "Danny is getting really good at the whole rage bait thing," one commenter suggested. "Dude 11 interceptions is not even high what is Danny's argument," a commenter asked. Many commenters also mentioned that Parkins is from Chicago, which likely contributed to his suggestion that Williams is better than Love. Most likely, it was designed to grab attention, and it certainly did that, although many commenters seem to be calling for Nick Wright to return to the show ASAP. Jordan Love successfully guided Green Bay to back-to-back postseason appearances as a starter. It's expected they'll contend for the NFC North division and a playoff spot once again behind a strong core of players. Advertisement Williams led the Bears to a 5-12 record in his rookie season. As he enters his sophomore season with the Chicago Bears, he'll need to prove his abilities and impact by guiding the team back to the playoffs. Watch 76ers' VJ Edgecombe put on a show in his Summer League debut with 28 points
This is why the majority of teams had VJ Edgecombe third on their draft boards, and why Philadelphia took him at No. 3. Edgecombe put on a show in his Summer League debut, scoring 28 points, showing his explosiveness (particularly in transition), the fluidity of his game, his pull-up jumper, his playmaking, and he played good defense (for Summer League). Edgecombe's game is well-suited for the glorified pick-up game that is Summer League, and he showcased his skills. Edgecombe outdueled the Utah Jazz's No. 5 pick Ace Bailey, who scored 8 points in 3-of-13 shooting. Bailey struggled when he had to create his own shot, but that's not a surprise, given that it was known he had to work on his handle, and he's not the athlete Edgecombe is to create space. However, Bailey looked good working off the ball, something Jazz coach Will Hardy could take advantage of during the season. Advertisement What matters most, especially for Bailey, is not this game, but how much he improves. Does he look better by Game 3 of Summer League? Is he learning?
