He acknowledged that with the team's high-calibre players, they should have aimed for the finals, expressing disappointment in not achieving that goal.
He emphasised the need to maximise scoring in favourable conditions, like aiming for 250-260, and the importance of adapting to different game situations, such as reaching 170 in tougher conditions, which they failed to do.
'Amazing finish. The last few games of the season, lots of things clicked, and it was scary to watch that kind of batting. With the calibre of the players we have, we can't play any worse than what we did earlier. With the players we have, we should be making the finals. This year we didn't. We get wickets like here, we got to max out and get 250-260 and other ones where we need to graft and get to 170, which we didn't,' Pat Cummins said in the post-match presentation.
KKR endured a forgettable outing on Sunday as they failed to chase down a mammoth target of 279 set by Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, crashing to a 110-run defeat.
The loss ended KKR's season on a disappointing note, placing them eighth in the table with five wins, seven losses, and one no result. SRH, meanwhile, climbed to sixth with six wins, seven losses, and one no result.

The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) had to be briefly suspended due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. The suspension started with a match between the Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings literally being abandoned after 10.1 overs were bowled in Dharamsala. In the months since, there have been a few accounts from players, notably Australia women's captain Alyssa Healy, whose husband Mitchell Starc was playing for the Capitals, and now, former Australia batter Matthew Hayden has revealed how the entire incident unfolded for the commentators. 'I'd flown from Mumbai overnight to Delhi because there wasn't a connecting flight with Punjab's home ground (for that game) Dharamsala. Magnificent ground. But by the time I landed in Delhi, there was no airport open,' said Hayden on the All Over Bar The Cricket podcast. 'It was at the time that coincided with the incursion of Pakistan back into India and we were talking drones navigating across the skies, taking out ground to air missiles and it was just eerie. We had to take a car via Chandigarh up to Dharamsala. That's a 11 and a half, 12 hour drive. By the time we reached the venue we were told the game was about to proceed.' The first signs of something unusual unfolding were the lights at the stadium going off. While it had seemed like a technical issue on air, eventually the whole stadium went dark and reports emerged of the venue being evacuated due to threat of a drone strike. A number of major Indian cities had done blackout drills during that period. Hayden said that the commentators were told before the match that the lights going out will not be a technical issue. 'But half an hour before we went on air we were given a security message that if the light towers were to to go out, it's not a technical issue. It's actually a sign that the venue has been compromised and there will be an emergency evacuation response and we will proceed,' he said. 'I was mid-sentence with my usual garbage on air and the first light tower goes out so I've let the spectators and fans know that it has gone out. Then the second goes almost immediately. Next minute security came in like a blanket. Dropped my mic literally mid-sentence and we were ushered out of the ground,' he said. Hayden noted that the IPL has been a 'great survivor' considering the myriad events it has managed to see through over the course of its existence. 'It's been a great survivor and it's lasted incredible events historically for India. It got moved in the second year to South Africa due to elections. We had Covid and it seemed to survive that we moved to Dubai over to the middle east,' he said.

The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru hasn't received clearance to host the Maharaja T20 tournament, with the Karnataka State Cricket Association now searching for venues to play the tournament at, as Chinnaswamy has been mired in controversy for almost two months now, according to a report in ESPNCricinfo. The Maharaja T20 is all set to take place from August 11 to 27 and the KSCA needs to find venues with 10 days in hand. The police have withheld clearance because of the ongoing investigation into the June 4 stampede that occurred near the stadium during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL winning celebrations. An independent CID investigation into the incident, which left 11 dead and over 50 injured, is still underway. The KSCA is now exploring alternative venues, including its facility in Alur on the outskirts of Bengaluru, as well as the Wadeyar Ground in Mysuru. Although Alur boasts excellent drainage and infrastructure, the lack of floodlights poses a significant challenge for broadcasters. According to the report, Alur is all set to host the group games of the six-day women's T20 competition, the Maharani T20, from August 4. The Karnataka State Cricket Association had been considering hosting the women's final at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, but that now appears uncertain as police approval is still pending. As the Karnataka State Cricket Association contends with the prospect of a last-minute venue change, teams have expressed frustration over the financial losses they now stand to incur. South Africa will then head to England early next month for three ODIs and three T20s. 'For us as a team it'll be about fine tuning a lot of things and preparing for that T20 World Cup, so a great opportunity in Australia and then followed by England and if we can get closer towards another trophy, that'll be good," Markram told reporters. South Africa finished as runners-up in the last T20 World Cup in the West Indies a year ago, and Markram was the hero of their World Test Championship win over Australia in June.
