CM Punjab directs prioritisation of road projects
The CM added, 'Implementation of bye-laws should be ensured to keep roadsides free from encroachments.'
The chief minister reviewed 18.5 km of Lahore Ring Road Southern Loop road project, and sought a feasibility report from the relevant authorities for the expressway project to connect Layyah-Bhakkar road to motorway. She also discussed Khariyan-Rawalpindi Express Road Project, and directed the authorities responsible to install uniform style of tuff tiles in cities and villages.
The secretary C&W briefed Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in detail on the road projects of each division and district.
He said, 'Construction, expansion and rehabilitation of 460 roads is in progress at a fast pace.'
'Construction of Quaid-e-Azam Interchange to Wagah Border Road has been completed, while the construction of drain and wall is ongoing.'
The CM was also apprised, 'Multan-Vehari two-way road project has been approved by ECNEC, and the construction of additional carriageway is underway All road construction and rehabilitation projects in Murree, and Shakargarh Road in Kartarpur Corridor Project have been completed, while the construction of Muridke-Narowal road is in progress.'

Target of 50k home loans achieved: CM
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that issuance of home loans under the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar progamme without any political influence or recommendation is an unprecedented step in the province's governance. She was commenting on the achievement of the target of disbursing loans for more than 50,000 houses by June 2025 under the low-cost housing initiative, According to official figures, 51,911 home construction loans have been issued so far, amounting to Rs57.9 billion disbursed under the project. The initiative has already led to the completion of 5,293 houses, now occupied by families, while 41,324 homes are currently under construction across the province. The citizens have been able to apply for home loans online. CM Maryam Nawaz said, "The Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar project is designed to create genuine ease and empowerment for the people." She added that every eligible applicant, regardless of political affiliation, is receiving support under the programme. "We have not only made history, we intend to break our own records," she added. The CM credited the success of the initiative to the vision of PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

WB rates ‘Punjab Green Development Programme' as ‘moderately satisfactory'
ISLAMABAD: The World Bank has rated the overall implementation progress of 'Punjab Green Development Programme' worth $200 million 'moderately satisfactory' which envisaged strengthening environmental governance and promoting green investments in the province. The bank in its Implementation Status and Results Report (ISR) also termed the progress towards achievement of project development objective moderately satisfactory. The project was approved in May 2018 with the development objective to strengthen environmental governance and promote green investments in Punjab. The original closing date of the project was 30 June 2023. Official documents revealed that the programme has been restructured for the third time and the revised closure date is November 30th, 2025. The original cost of the project was $200 million which was revised to $182.89 million, of which, $134.69 million i.e. 71.61 percent was disbursed so far. The targets set under the 'Promoting Green Investments' are yet to be achieved. New target is more realistic and is expected to be achieved before the new closing date, it added. Training and maintenance: South African Air Force seeks assistance from PAF
ISLAMABAD: The South African Air Force has sought assistance from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in overhauling its training regime and maintaining its C-130 aircraft fleet aiming at strengthening bilateral military cooperation. The proposal was made during a high-level meeting between Lieutenant General Wiseman Simo Mbambo, Chief of the South African Air Force, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, at Air Headquarters, Islamabad. According to the ISPR, Lt Gen Mbambo was presented with a Guard of Honour on arrival, by a smartly turned-out contingent of the PAF, symbolising the warm diplomatic and defence ties between the two countries. During the meeting, the two Air Chiefs held wide-ranging discussions on enhancing cooperation in aviation training, operational readiness, and technical collaboration. Air Chief Marshal Sidhu highlighted the shared values and mutual aspirations that form the basis of the long-standing friendship between Pakistan and South Africa. He reaffirmed PAF's commitment to supporting the South African Air Force through tailored training programs and comprehensive capacity-building initiatives. Lt Gen Mbambo praised the PAF's robust operational preparedness, its multi-domain warfare capabilities, and its success in maintaining a credible deterrence posture. Recognising Pakistan's proven expertise in aviation training and defence production, the South African Air Force Chief expressed strong interest in institutionalising the relationship between the two air forces. A key focus of the discussions was the revamping of the South African Air Force's training framework. Lt Gen Mbambo formally requested PAF's support in designing a modern, academy-level training system to better equip future South African airmen. He also conveyed his desire for SAAF officers to participate as observers in PAF's major operational exercises, aiming to benefit from Pakistan's combat training experience. Acknowledging the cost-effective and technically proficient capabilities of PAF's engineering infrastructure, the visiting dignitary also expressed the intent to explore maintenance and inspection of South Africa's C-130 transport aircraft fleet in Pakistan.
