Liverpool Are Among The Clubs Hoping To Land This Atletico Madrid Star: Dream Option For Slot?

Yahoo27-05-2025
In a recent report, Marca mentioned that Liverpool are among the clubs hoping to land Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez. It has been stated that the Reds would have to compete with Barcelona and Arsenal in the race to sign the Argentine talent this summer.
Alvarez's Impressive Run Of Form In La Liga
The 25-year-old had a brilliant campaign at the Madrid club after putting in a lot of productive displays for them in the final third. Alvarez banged in 29 goals and grabbed seven assists in 54 matches for Diego Simeone's side last season on all fronts.

The Argentine forward has been a reliable performer up top as he averaged 2.51 shots per game and kept 51.4% of his attempts on target in La Liga. However, Alvarez could improve his link-up play in the opponent's half, based on his pass completion rate of 74.2% in league football (stats via fbref.com).
The Calchin-born talent is under contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until the summer of 2030. Therefore, Liverpool would have to make a huge offer if they are to stand a chance of recruiting Alvarez this off-season.

Is Alvarez A Dream Option For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot?
Alvarez can create a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer some promising chances for his teammates up top and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Argentine talent has proven his worth as a prolific goal-scorer in the final third. He mainly functions as a centre-forward but can also operate as a winger on either flank if told to do so by his manager.
Alvarez already knows the Premier League well from his time at Manchester City. Hence, he won't take much time to adjust to life in Liverpool if they manage to bring him back to England this summer.
Alvarez would add plenty of goals and assists to Arne Slot's attack. He has what it takes to be a regular starter for the Merseyside club over the next few years. Therefore, Alvarez would be a dream option for the Reds to consider in this summer transfer window.

Atletico Madrid poach 23-year-old talent from rivals Real Madrid

Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid continue their battle of signatures, and Los Colchoneros are the latest to strike. Goalkeeper Mario de Luis, whose contract was up at the Santiago Bernabeu, has signed for Atletico. The 23-year-old goalkeeper was a free agent this summer, and with Fran Gonzalez operating as the third-choice for Real Madrid, and Diego Pineiro also in contention for Castilla, de Luis and Los Blancos decided to part ways. Atletico have signed him to a two-year deal until 2027, with Spain under-21 goalkeeper Alejandro Iturbe set to leave the club. However de Luis has fallen out of favour for the starting role in the last two seasons, making eight appearances last year, and 11 this season in relief for Gonzalez. The affiliate side will be known as Atletico Madrileno from now on, returning to the name they until 1991, 34 years ago. That was also the name they played under from their foundation, in 1970. Many are excited to see what Torres can do with Atletico Madrileno, having enjoyed success with the under-19 side. With Alvaro Arbeloa also earning promotion to the Castilla side, replacing Raul, the two will do battle again in Primera RFEF, the third tier of Spanish football.

West Ham reject £50m Mohammed Kudus bid from Tottenham

West Ham United have received an offer from Tottenham Hotspur to sign Mohammed Kudus. The bid was worth £50million and has been turned down but club-to-club talks continue. Kudus is prioritising Spurs if he leaves West Ham and personal terms for the 24-year-old Ghana international are not expected to be an issue. Advertisement The Athletic reported in June that Kudus' contract, which runs until 2028, has a buyout clause that is only active for the first 10 days of July, valued at £80million ($108m) for European clubs, £85m for Premier League sides and £120m for Saudi Arabian teams. The forward has remained on Chelsea's radar, after they stalled on completing a deal to bring him to Stamford Bridge from Ajax in 2023, before West Ham sealed his signature. West Ham signed Kudus for a fee of €41.5million (£35.6m, $48.8m) plus €3m (£2.5m) in add-ons in August 2023, and he immediately became a key part of David Moyes' side, recording 18 goals and 10 assists in 48 appearances during his first season. Utilised in multiple positions across West Ham's frontline, Kudus had a less fruitful 2024-25 campaign, scoring five goals and assisting four in 35 appearances as his side finished 14 in the Premier League. Before joining West Ham, Kudus scored 27 goals in 87 appearances for Ajax, helping the club to consecutive Eredivisie titles in 2021 and 2022. Spurs have been keen to add a forward to their squad during the summer, despite being bolstered by the permanent addition of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich for €35m, plus €10m in potential bonuses following his loan spell at the club last season. The north London club hoped to persuade Bryan Mbeumo to join new head coach Thomas Frank in joining from Brentford, but the forward has informed Spurs he favours a move to Manchester United. Meanwhile, The Athletic reported Spurs made an enquiry over Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo.
