'Harry's Father's Day tribute from Meghan speaks volumes on compromised life'

Daily Mirror16-06-2025
Meghan Markle posted a Father's Day tribute to Prince Harry with never-before-seen footage of him with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet - and one royal expert says the post is very telling
Prince Harry's Father's Day tribute from Meghan Markle shows he "doesn't have it all" despite the song it is set to, according to a royal expert. Meghan posted a video to Instagram showing Harry alongside Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, set to the song Have It All by Jason Mraz.
The compilation showed photos and videos of Harry laughing, dancing and spending quality time with his children through the years. Meghan captioned the post: "The best. Happy Father's Day to our favourite guy." The post came hours after Harry's estranged brother Prince William was also seen in a new picture with his children in a post on the official Prince and Princess of Wales social media accounts.

Kensington Palace said the photographs were taken by professional photographer Josh Shinner in Norfolk earlier this year. And according to royal expert and historian Dr Tessa Dunlop, there was a vast gulf between the two posts.
She told the Mirror: "Hail Prince William, the model father. Or rather the model English father, with a before-and-after duo of professional photographs featuring a handsome, upstanding man, beautifully blended with his children; a foursome united in different shades of 'Norfolk' green.
"The post dropped early on Father's Day via Kensington Palace's Instagram account, giving that other royal family plenty of time to tweak their own paternal efforts for a later LA release.
"In Britain, it was bedtime before we caught a sneaky peak of the Sussexes' alternative Californian vibe: Harry the hands-on dad - forget formal posing in tweedy greens, this was 'au naturel'. Well, sort of.
"A hotch-potch of sunbaked vibes, bubble machines and sea-side shots cast to the Jason Mraz track 'Have it all.' Except Harry doesn't have it all."

The tribute to Harry comes just weeks after he spoke out about his rift with his own father King Charles, and said he would love reconciliation with him.
And Tessa added: "Despite his professed desire to resume relations with his own father the King, the Duke of Sussex remains something of an orphan, stranded on the other side of the Atlantic. A discordant backdrop that cast his otherwise happy little video in a poignant light.

"Poor Harry. These days having it all even means sharing images of his children's faces, albeit blurry ones taken when they were much younger.
"Such are the compromises celebrities make when no longer protected by the royal coffers. Meghan's Instagram account is a hungry beast.

"Long gone are the effortless days of a shared fraternal photograph; it was 2017 when William and Harry posted an early photograph with their dear Papa in the Scottish Highlands for Father's Day.
"It had been declared the holiday snap indicative of the brothers' close bond, proof that when it comes to the Royal Family, what you see is only ever half the story."
Tessa Dunlop is the author of the new book Lest We Forget, War and Peace in 100 British Monuments.

Victoria Beckham's heartbreaking family message in anniversary tribute to David

Former Spice Girls singer Victoria Beckham has shared some sweet words about her family on her and David's 26th wedding anniversary - amid their family feud with son Brooklyn Victoria Beckham has made a heartbreaking comment about her family while paying tribute to her husband David on their wedding anniversary. The mum-of-four, 51, took to Instagram to gush over David, on their 26th wedding anniversary after they tied the knot on July 4, 1999. Sharing a throwback photo of herself and David sharing a passionate kiss in a swimming pool, Victoria wrote: "Another year, another chapter in our love story. I'm so proud of the beautiful family and life we've built together. You and our four incredible children complete me. I love you so much @davidbeckham. Here's to 26 years." ‌ The comments made about her 'beautiful family' and her incredible four children comes after months of a family feud with Victoria's eldest son Brooklyn, 26, who has distanced himself from his parents and siblings, Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20, and Harper-Seven, 13. ‌ David also reached out to his eldest son, Brooklyn – who he affectionately calls 'Buster' – in the midst of the family feud. Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz, 30, left the newly-appointed Sir 'heartbroken' when they swerved his 50th birthday in May. The bash was attended by all of David's other kids: Romeo, Cruz and Harper as well as important other members of the Beckhams' inner circle. Brooklyn made no reference to his dad's milestone – or his long-awaited knighthood title – despite wishing his father-in-law and brother-in-law a happy birthday on social media. However, David, has now tried to reconnect with the hot sauce enthusiast, despite Brooklyn's repeated snubs, once again. Paying tribute to 'Lady Beckham' on their wedding anniversary, David thanked Victoria for giving him four children. Sharing a snap of the couple from their lavish nuptials in Ireland, he wrote: "26 years today you said YES to me. Happy Anniversary and thank you for giving me our beautiful children and building the life that we have together. ‌ "I love you Lady Beckham @victoriabeckham @brooklynpeltzbckham @romeobeckham @cruzbeckham #harperseven." Brooklyn's brother, Romeo also appeared to reach out to his brother but for very different reasons. Romeo sent a heartfelt message to his sibling following the tragic death of Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota. Diogo and his brother lost their lives on Thursday after their car crashed in Spain. Paying tribute to the footballers, Romeo shared a shared a passionate post about telling the people you love how much you appreciate them. ‌ Taking to Instagram with a string of broken hearted emojis, he shared a message, which read: "The people that truly love you and care for you will always be there." Brooklyn, meanwhile, is still keeping silent - apart from promoting his latest six-figure photoshoot with Nicola. The couple, who got married three years ago, posed up a storm for Italian brand Moncler in London, just two miles away from the Beckham's family home. ‌ On the day of the shoot, David was even closer to his son as he attended the Chelsea Flower Show, which was only a mile away. Photos from the shoot have finally been released, as Brooklyn and Nicola put on a very loved-up display. However, a source told The Mirror: 'The fact that Brooklyn was in the country and failed to see any of his family was heartbreaking. And not only that, but here he was posting about it.' "Brooklyn had kept the visit quiet from not only his mum and dad but his siblings and extended family. It was terribly sad that he had flown thousands of miles to London and hadn't engaged at all. It would have been very easy to meet up.'
