All About Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky's 3 Kids, Who've Already Acted Alongside Him

The couple are raising their kids out of the spotlight in Australia.
When Chris Hemsworth isn't playing everyone's favorite god of thunder, he steps into the role of dad. The Marvel star and his wife, model and actress Elsa Pataky, share three children: daughter India Rose Hemsworth, and twin sons Sasha Hemsworth and Tristan Hemsworth.
Hemsworth and Pataky tied the knot back in 2010 and welcomed India Rose two years later. Their twins arrived in 2014, making them a family of five.
All three of the couple's children tagged along for their famous father's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, although India opted out of photos at the event. The actor gushed over his kids in his acceptance speech, calling them 'endlessly inspiring' to him. 'Their ability to live in the moment and to dive into life head first and to have fun and be joyous and playful is a constant reminder that that's what life's about,' he continued, adding, 'I love you guys.'
Although he plays a high-flying superhero on the big screen, Hemsworth is taking strides to make sure his children stay grounded. 'As a kid, we had very little money, and my parents saved up all year to just pay for a two-week camping vacation,' Hemsworth told People of his own childhood in 2017. 'Financially, we're in a different position, but I want to make sure [my kids] know these things don't come easy. You have to work for it, and you can't take it for granted,' he explained.
Pataky, a Madrid native best known for her role in the Fast & Furious franchise, echoed Hemsworth's sentiments in a March 2019 cover story for HOLA! USA. 'All mothers try to instill our values, but I especially try to teach them to respect each other—to share—since they are lucky to have it all and are very privileged," she said. "I want them to value it and be generous with people who don't have that luck.'
Even if they aren't actually superheroes, the pair are certainly a power couple. Below, here's everything to know about Chris Hemsworth's three kids with Elsa Pataky.
India Rose Hemsworth
Hemsworth and Pataky welcomed their first child, India Rose Hemsworth, on May 11, 2012. She was born in London, England, according to her official IMDB bio. As for her name, Hemsworth told E! News'It was just a name we liked, I always kind of liked Indie or Indiana for a boy and [Pataky] liked India.'
While the Hemsworths spent the first few years of India's life in Los Angeles, they relocated to Australia's Byron Bay in 2015. Hemsworth, a born-and-raised Aussie, explained to Vanity Fair in 2024 that he wanted to be closer to his parents—and farther from the superficiality of Los Angeles.
Living in a beach town with a family farm nearby, 13-year-old India is naturally an animal lover. The same Vanity Fair profile revealed that the oldest Hemsworth child keeps birds in her bedroom's enclosed balcony. She's also a passionate horseback rider, with Pataky (a rider herself) regularly sharing clips of her daughter's competitions on social media.
The preteen has already made an appearance on the silver screen. Alongside Hemsworth's twin boys, India had a small role in his 2022 film Thor: Love and Thunder, as the character of Love. Hemsworth's co-stars Christian Bale and Natalie Portman, as well as director Taika Waititi, had their children appear in the film as well, per an interview Hemsworth did with entertainment reporter Kevin McCarthy.
Although India regularly attends premieres and events with her celebrity parents, she tends to opt out of photos. Asked about her daughter's desire to stay out of the public eye, Pataky told Spanish-language publication La Vanguardia, 'She likes discretion. She has decided that she does not want to go out in public, or draw attention to herself, or be talked about.'
The teen does make occasional cameos on her parents' Instagram accounts. In 2022, Hemsworth shared two photos: one of his daughter on a set as a baby, and another of her at 10 years old on the set of Thor: Love and Thunder. 'She's my favourite superhero,' he wrote in the caption of the heartwarming post.
Sasha and Tristan Hemsworth
India became a big sister just shy of her second birthday, when Hemsworth and Pataky welcomed twins Sasha and Tristan on March 18, 2014. Pataky announced their arrival on her Instagram.
Even though they're twins, the siblings aren't one and the same, as Hemsworth noted in a 2018 interview with GQ Australia. 'I don't get how I can teach them the same thing but they be so different?' the amused father said. 'Tristan is so athletic but there's not an aggressive bone in his body. He's the most emotional one. Whereas Sasha is like a little gangster.'
Personality differences aside, the brothers share a love of superheroes—but their father's character surprisingly isn't their favorite. "I think Wonder Woman's their favorite character, it's definitely my boys' favorite character," the Transformers One voice actor told ET in 2022.
That hasn't stopped him from trying to win them over. One of the twins played a younger version of Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder, and both boys joined their father at the film's Sydney premiere in 2022. For their eighth birthday, Hemsworth shared a throwback photo to Instagram of his look-alike sons dressed up as the character, complete with two mini mjölnir hammers. 'If your [sic] asking if they're allowed to wear any other super hero outfits besides Thor the answer is no 😘🎉,' he wrote.
More recently, 11-year-old Sasha and Tristan posed alongside their parents, grandparents, and uncle Liam Hemsworth at the London premiere of Limitless: Live Better Now. Tristan donned a tuxedo for the occasion, while Sasha wore a more laid-back black suit.

Here's the Front-Runner to Play Elon Musk in Luca Guadagnino's AI Movie

It seems like you haven't really made it in Silicon Valley until a major movie actor plays you on film. Jesse Eisenberg portrayed Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network, and Michael Fassbender played Steve Jobs in the 2015 film Steve Jobs. Even Bill Gates was played by Anthony Michael Hall in the 1999 TV film Pirates of Silicon Valley. And now Elon Musk is reportedly next in line to get the Hollywood treatment. Deadline reported today that Ike Barinholtz, the star of The Studio, which earned him his first Emmy nomination, is in talks to play the Tesla CEO in Luca Guadagnino's upcoming movie Artificial. Guadagnino is known for his stylish films that include Call Me by Your Name, Queer, and Challengers. And now the Italian director is taking on Silicon Valley next. Artificial is being described as a comedic drama about the world of artificial intelligence. Specific plot details have not been officially announced yet, but sources told Deadline that the film will be about the time OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was suddenly fired from the company in 2023, only to be rehired four days later. Altman was initially ousted by the company's board for allegedly not being 'consistently candid in his communication with the board.' The New York Times reported at the time that Altman had tried to remove one of the directors, Helen Toner, after a research paper she co-authored was perceived by him as critical of OpenAI's safety practices, while praising rival firm Anthropic. Microsoft quickly offered Altman a job, prompting most of OpenAI's staff to threaten to quit. Eventually, Altman won the power struggle and returned to lead the company with much of the board replaced. Barinholtz would join a cast that currently includes includes Anora's Yura Borisov, Andrew Garfield, who played Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin in The Social Network, and Cooper Koch. Although it hasn't been confirmed, some outlets speculate that Garfield would be playing Altman. Guadagnino also frequently works with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who famously scored The Social Network, so we might see the Nine Inch Nails frontman return his focus to tech bros. Musk cofounded OpenAI with Altman and others back in 2015, but he left in 2018, reportedly over disagreements about the company's direction. He now runs a rival company, xAI. And the feud between the two has only escalated since. Earlier this year, Musk exited his role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and engaged in a public spat with Trump on social media. Around the same time, Altman joined Trump for a long one-on-one meeting. Trump later publicly praised Altman's AI infrastructure efforts, which Musk has previously disparaged.

‘The Adventures of Antoine Doinel': François Truffaut's Alter-Ego Grows Up

Those unfamiliar with the nuances of France's New Wave may not realize its movies aren't all inscrutable. For every Jacques Rivette, there was an Eric Rohmer; for every Jean-Luc Godard, a François Truffaut. Indeed, Truffaut, who died in 1984 at age 52, may well be the Nouvelle Vague's most accessible director. His breakthrough picture, 'The 400 Blows' (1959)—essential viewing—remains universally adored, and for good reason: It charts the tribulations of young adolescence as no film did before and few, if any, have managed since. So it's no wonder that though Truffaut didn't originally intend for Antoine Doinel, the movie's broodingly sympathetic central character and his acknowledged alter-ego, to reappear, he couldn't resist revisiting the rapscallion from time to time. Thus, beyond 'Blows,' we have three features and a short in which Antoine is the protagonist—always played by the same actor who first portrayed him, the winsome Jean-Pierre Léaud, though the parallels between Antoine and Truffaut diminish as the series progresses.

Judd Apatow Praises Viral ‘Girls' Scene Amid ‘Too Much' Buzz: Andrew Rannells Is a ‘Remarkable' Actor

'Girls' always seems to surge back into the cultural conversation, particularly since Lena Dunham's new series 'Too Much' premiered on Netflix earlier this month. In the near-decade since 'Girls' aired its HBO finale, its cast has gone on to become film and TV stalwarts. Among the most prolific, of course, is Andrew Rannells — who appeared with Dunham on 'Too Much,' giving fans the Hannah and Elijah reunion they were waiting for. 'Too Much' might've been the latest project pairing Dunham and Rannells, but it was far from the first. Actually, according to none other than Judd Apatow — 'Girls' executive producer (among other things) — we now know exactly what the first scene they shot together was… and it's a biggie. More from IndieWire Remembering Ozzy Osbourne, Rock's Prince of Darkness Who Also Created Reality TV as We Know It Marc Maron Says Jon Stewart Doesn't Like Him: 'There's No Love Here' In the scene — from way back in 2012 — Hannah and Elijah, her former college boyfriend, have a contentious (and hilarious) conversation about Elijah's sexuality, focusing on how much more queer-coded he has gotten since coming out and how he believes her father is also gay. The 'Girls Rewatch' podcast posted the scene, and it has since gone viral — so viral, in fact, that both Rannells and Apatow commented, with the latter revealing a nice nugget of trivia. 'Andrew's first day at work,' Apatow wrote. 'Remarkable. Both of them so in the pocket it's ridiculous.' Rannells meanwhile said simply, 'You all are the best.' 'Too Much' had brought Dunham renewed success. Rannells is but one of many fun guest stars and cameos littered throughout the series. At Tribeca in June, Dunham told the audience (via THR) that she 'always try to write with somebody in mind.' 'It just helps me when I'm writing, and usually it's somebody either that I admire or somebody that I already have a really great collaborative relationship with, and then you just kind of write them,' she said. 'And my goal is always: I love this person, so what is going to get them to come do a role, a couple episodes in a half-hour TV show like this?' Dunham also has the Netflix romcom 'Good Sex' on the horizon, boasting a cast that includes Natalie Portman, Meg Ryan, Mark Ruffalo, and Rashida Jones. Rannells, meanwhile, recently appeared in the horror comedy 'I Don't Understand You,' now available to stream. Dunham has also teased a possible 'Girls' revival, which you can read all about here.
