Father's Day Forecast: Hot & Mostly Dry

Yahoo09-06-2025
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — This Sunday, June 15, is Father's Day. And if you're planning celebrations or maybe a cookout, it's looking dry. However, it's also looking hot.
Highs at just under a week out look to be in the upper 80s and even potentially the low 90s. Going to be a hot one, so plan to take plenty of breaks in the air conditioning and stay hydrated!
The good news, though, rain and storm chances remain minimal at this point, so it should be great weather to cool off in the pool or take a dip in the lake.
A non-zero shower/storm chance, though, as we see the potential of an isolated shower/storm or two by the afternoon/evening hours. Not looking widespread, and most areas remain rain-free. Be sure to check back with the KCAU 9 weather team throughout the week for the latest updates.

Weather Alert: Flash flooding expected across Pennsylvania

(WBRE/WYOU) — Flood Watches are in effect for all of northeast and central Pennsylvania through Tuesday until midnight. Several locations are dealing with heavy rainfall overnight and Monday morning, leading to localized flooding issues. Send us any weather you expereince to our Report It page With the ground already saturated, any additional rain will create more flash flooding concerns. A slow-moving cold front will help showers and storms develop, especially in the afternoon and evening. A few storms may become strong to severe with the potential for damaging winds. However, the threat of downpours and flooding will be the biggest concern. We catch a brief break on Tuesday with an isolated shower or storm, though most areas are dry. Additional rounds of afternoon and evening showers/storms will be expected for the middle to end of the week. You can stay current on all the latest weather alerts and track the storm using the Eyewitness Interactive Radar. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. In Southaven, several trees and lights were down on Airport Industrial Drive near Airways and Stateline Road. A tractor trailer appeared to be overturned. There were not yet any official wind measurements, but radar suggests winds may have been around 60 mph in the Southaven area when the damage occurred. In East Memphis, Poplar Avenue had deep standing water near Clark Tower. Check the latest forecasts from WREG Weather Radar is estimating 1-2 inches of rain fell in parts of Shelby and DeSoto counties Saturday. These were typical summer thunderstorms that were briefly strong, WREG Weather Expert Jake Dalton said. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. North Carolina rainfall totals from Chantal with data from 50+ sites

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — After Tropical Storm Chantal made landfall near Litchfield, South Carolina, around 5 a.m. early Sunday morning, the storm turned northward — with a major portion of rain dumped to the west of the circulation. Chantal weakened to a tropical depression and generally went north, crossing over Raleigh, but the western location of the storm's intense rainfall cells took the flooding over an area generally south of the Triangle, then northwest to Moore County, and then northward. The path of the storm — along with the rotation of torrential rainfall repeatedly over some areas — took the worst of Chantal over Lee, Chatham, Durham, Orange, and Person counties. The track and continued rotation of sheets of rain meant massive amounts of water in a generally vertical band running just west of Wake County and east of Guilford County.
