‘Casting couch was trending in Bollywood': Surveen Chawla says she considered quitting the industry, lost out on work for saying no
She shared with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, 'There was a time when it was all about casting couch. It just felt dirty to even step out and I was like, 'I don't want to do this'. There was that phase. It was almost like it was trending.' She explained what she meant by trending and said, 'Trending, of course, I am not talking about social media. Metaphorically. Symbolically. It was almost like it was trending.'
Surveen said that she lost many roles because she put her foot down and refused to engage in such compromises. 'Everytime I would lose a part because I had the audacity to say no, or the audacity to just keep my ground in some way shape or form. But it was crazy. I felt like I have hit the end of the road. So that phase was like really tough. And I had to lay low and laze around and be like 'I can't do this, this is not what I was here for' sort of a thing,' she shared.

In an earlier chat with Hauterrfly, Surveen opened up about her horrific experience with casting couch and shared, 'I will tell you a tale about Mumbai's Veera Desai Road only. After the meeting at his office cabin, he came to see me off at the gate, and this was after I got married. And the strange thing was that we talked about this in the meeting also, he asked me how it was going and what my husband did, and it was just us speaking inside his cabin because he had a big office.' She added, 'So, when I came to the door to say bye, he leaned towards me trying to kiss, and I had to push him back. I was startled and asked him what he was doing, and I just walked off.'

The movie made Rs 35.75 crore on day 3. On Monday, a drop in the numbers was expected as compared to Sunday and that's normal. Yet it crossed Rs 20 crore mark on a Monday is commendable. The film minted Rs 24 crore on day 4. On Tuesday, day 5, there was a slight growth as compared to Monday. The numbers on Tuesday could be higher as many theatres have lower ticket prices, thus, there may have been a higher footfall in theatres. Thus, the movie made Rs 25 crore. Now on day 6,, 'Saiyaara' has collected Rs 21.00 crore. The Wednesday numbers have seen a slight drop as compared to Tuesday. However, that was also expected since there were more footfalls on Tuesday due to discounted ticket prices in some national chains. The film's total collection so far, according to Sacnilk, is Rs 153.25 Cr crore. Even 's 'Sikandar' had failed to cross Rs 100 crore in its first four days. Thus, it has surely done better than many big movies. Even more impressively, it's set to surpass the first Tuesday numbers of Pushpa 2 in the region—an achievement that speaks volumes. Saiyaara: 4 Reasons Why Mohit Suri's Hero Ahaan Panday Has Become Overnight Star & Internet's Darling
Let's now take a quick look at what makes Ahaan the internet's latest obsession and subject of massive fan frenzy: Resurgence of the romantic hero This is the age of action thrillers and political-motivated patriotic films. Every Friday brings to us yet another larger-than-life action hero, who doesn't bat his eyelids before taking down a gang of goons with death-defying action sequences. At a time like this, Saiyaara, a mopey love story, has come as a breath of fresh air. The industry and the audience were awaiting the arrival of a romantic hero and Ahaan's entrance seems to be a classic case of being at the right place at the right time. His Krish Kapoor is a rugged charmer. And he loves with all his heart. With a guitar in his hand and pain in his eyes, he has truly emerged as a modern-day lover boy. When his lady love fails to recognise him, a heartbroken and misty-eyed Krish plants a kiss on her forehead (of course, with consent). He shares a scintillating chemistry with Aneet. Plus, videos of him doing the rounds on the internet that show him grooving effortlessly to the beats of a timeless track makes him desirable. Could he be our modern-day Shah Rukh Khan? Those are big shoes to fill. But at least, we finally have a Gen-Z romantic hero, who will sweep you off your feet! Noteworthy acting chops Ahaan has been winning raving reviews for his debut act in Saiyaara. Years of training and patience have surely borne a sweet, sweet fruit. Even in the most emotionally dramatic and chaotic scenes, his restraint is palpable. His screen presence is luminous. His quite vulnerability and eloquent pair of eyes are signs of masculinity that isn't quite afraid to embrace its flaws and emotionality. In Saiyaara, he truly delivers an act that can make even the experienced and seasoned envious. Ahaan's debut can best be compared to Ranbir Kapoor's. Both these performances – Ahaan in Saiyaara and Ranbir in Saawariya – bear a testament to the fact that if you have talent that sparkles and shines all the way even in a bumpy film, you're sure to soar. It's understandable why the film achieved the feat for being the highest grossing film featuring debutants. The enigma factor Saiyaara has managed to break old records and set many new ones with a unique and clever promotional strategy. These feats have happened without the actors being exposed to the public glare and without any traditional publicity and marketing approach – zero interviews, zero city visits, no reels, no influencer content. That's what perhaps explains this euphoria and frenzy surrounding this new actor, Ahaan. This secrecy and limited visibility (only through old Dubsmash videos and Alanna's vlogs) have definitely amped up the intrigue surrounding him. At a time when actors go all out to promote their films – engaging in multi-city tours and mall visits – Ahaan is a strong reminder of the old times when actors were elusive. And that directly translated into footfalls in theatres. And even with the massive success the film has and continues to witness, Ahaan along with Aneet has pretty much continued to stay away from limelight. No success interviews, limited paparazzi videos, zero theatre visits. Smart move! advetisement Boy next door

Heritage makeover of 117-yr-old Roxy to restore art deco glory by March 2026
1 2 Kolkata: The art deco-style opera house turned cinema hall at Esplanade, constructed by Maurice Bandmann and Arathoon Stephen 117 years ago, is set to undergo a heritage makeover. This transformation will be similar to Mumbai's Eros Cinema, with real estate developers' body Credai signing an MoU with KMC to renovate it at a cost of Rs 5 crore. The renovation will be completed by March 2026. Currently known as Roxy Cinema, it started as Empire Theatre in 1908 before being converted to a cinema hall in 1941. Empire Theatre hosted Uday Shankar's dance recitals. Others who performed at the Empire include Harry Lauder, Dame Clara Butt, Anna Pavlova, Marie Tempest, and Matheson Lang. After it became Roxy Cinema, the first movie to be screened was the Ashok Kumar-starrer 'Naya Sansar' in 1941. Another Ashok Kumar-starrer, 'Kismet', was screened in 1943 for a record 186 weeks. Credai Kolkata president Siddharth Pansari said the project is the single largest private investment in the restoration of public infrastructure in Kolkata. "We have pledged to spend Rs 5 crore in doing up the 25,000 sq ft interiors of Roxy Cinema in art deco style. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Dubai villas | search ads Get Deals Undo When complete, it will be an auditorium that KMC can use for its programmes or rent out," said Pansari. Architecture firm Innate, led by founder Anirban Bhaduri, will execute the project. The KMC heritage committee will continue to inspect and supervise the restoration. Mayor Firhad Hakim lauded the Credai Kolkata initiative to step forward and support the restoration project. Roxy was nearly facing the hammer a decade ago when heritage enthusiasts — writer Amit Chaudhuri and Intach Kolkata convenor GM Kapur — filed a PIL. The subsequent change of guard at KMC led to the demolition plan being dumped. The restoration project marks a remarkable turnaround in the theatre's fortunes.
