Demanding an apology from the Congress for imposing the Emergency, he said, 'Those who did such things are today moving around with the Constitution's copy. They have still not apologised. Your ancestors did it. You must apologise for this to the country,' he said in his remarks aimed at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Recalling the days of the Emergency, the RSS leader said while thousands of people were put in jail and tortured during that period, freedom of the judiciary and media was also curtailed. 'The days of the Emergency also witnessed large-scale forced sterilisation,' Hosabale added.
Speaking to a news agency on Friday, Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC backed the RSS leader's remarks, stating: 'He is absolutely right. The words 'socialist' and 'secular' were not part of the original Preamble of the Constitution drafted by BR Ambedkar. These were added during the Emergency in 1975, when then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi introduced the 42nd Constitutional Amendment. This raises a question—why highlight only these two terms when India is already a sovereign, democratic republic?'
She added that the Congress should apologise for the Emergency era amendments, saying: 'Shiv Sena demands that the Congress party apologise publicly for the Emergency. These terms were not in the original draft, and they should be removed.'
On the other hand, Congress leader Tariq Anwar condemned Hosabale's remarks, saying: 'There's a clear scent of communalism in his statement. India is secular by nature and by history. The Constitution guarantees the right to equality, the right to vote, and the right to practice one's religion. As for socialism, it aims to reduce inequality. We are striving to create a just society, and the term 'socialism' symbolises that effort.'
RJD leader Shakti Singh Yadav also slammed the RSS, accusing it of repeatedly attempting to undermine the Constitution's foundational principles.
'The RSS has always wanted to change the Constitution. The BJP is merely the political face of the RSS, and after coming to power, they are trying to implement the RSS's ideology. Narendra Modi is not just the Prime Minister of India; he represents the RSS's mission. Their agenda to remove socialism and secularism will not be accepted by the people.'

Despite going to Delhi many times, CM Revanth Reddy did not discuss the BC bill with PM Modi. Revanth is going to Delhi only to give kick backs. It has become clear that he has no sincerity towards the BCs. He said that even Ponnam Prabhakar had made several comments on BC Reservations. Ponnam Prabhakar is being made a scapegoat by the CM. The Congress party has never loved BCs. The Congress has a history of setting up commissions for BCs but failed to implement their reports. Madhusudhana Chari alleged that the Congress made false statements in the Kamareddy Declaration just for the votes of BCs in the elections. The Congress has given nothing to BCs even after two budgets. They said that Rs 20,000 crore will be allocated to BCs in the budget every year. They did not keep that promise. They cheated them by saying that there will be 42 per cent reservation in six months. The Congress party has no sincerity in anything. The BJP also has no concern for BCs. The central government has done nothing for BCs in eleven years. The BC ministry has not even been set up. Allocations in the budgets have also been reduced. He said that the elections should be held only after giving 42 per cent reservation to BCs in local body elections. MP V Ravi Chandra said that the Congress made many promises to BCs for votes in the elections but after coming to power, it forgot to implement the promises made to BCs.

BJP dubs Congress' renaming spree as ‘names change sarkar'
Hyderabad: The BJP in Telangana dubbed the 18-month-old Congress-led government as a 'Name's Change Sarkar' for failing to deliver on its promises. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar said 'Telangana Congress promised Change,' However, 'in 18 months, all it delivered was Name Changes.' On Friday, the Karimnagar MP, taking a dig at the State government for changing the name of the Rs 5 meal scheme named after 'Annapurna' to Indira Gandhi, said, 'Universities renamed. Hospitals renamed. Irrigation projects (were) renamed. Awards renamed. Flyovers renamed. Housing scheme renamed. Farm loan incentive renamed. Greening Drive (was) renamed. Departments renamed. Official residence renamed. Telangana Talli changed.' They 'Now, shamelessly, they've renamed the Rs 5 meal scheme from Goddess Annapurna, the divine giver of food, to Indira Gandhi. This isn't governance – it's an insult to Hindu beliefs. No real work. Just name work. And namesake work.' Medak Parliament MP M Raghunandan Rao criticized the Congress government, stating that after 18 months in power, it lacks the courage to evaluate its performance and address the promises made to the public. 'Just naming the Annapurna canteen after Indiramma canteen has not yielded any results for GHMC.' He urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to stop changing the names of the schemes, reduce the hype surrounding them, and focus on fulfilling the promises made to the people before the elections. Telangana BJP Chief Spokesperson and Media In-charge N.V. Subhash condemned the decision to rename the popular 'Annapurna Canteens'—which serves subsidized meals to the poor—as 'Indira Canteens'. Calling it an 'unwarranted, insensitive, and politically motivated' move, the BJP termed the renaming as a direct affront to the sentiments of the Hindu majority, and yet another attempt to erase cultural symbols deeply rooted in India's civilizational identity. 'Annapurna is not just a name—it symbolizes Goddess Annapurna, the divine mother who nourishes the world.' He stated that the scheme had gained widespread goodwill due to its apolitical intentions. The GHMC is not a private trust, nor is it operated by the Congress Party. 'The use of public funds to glorify a single political dynasty reflects entitlement and autocracy,' Subhash remarked.

Preamble 'not changeable', but was 'changed' in 1976 during Emergency, says Jagdeep Dhankhar
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday asserted that the Preamble of a constitution is "not changeable" as it is the "seed" on which the document grows. He said the preamble of no other constitution has undergone change except that of India. "But this Preamble was changed by the 42nd Constitution (Amendment) Act of 1976," he said noting that the words "socialist", "secular", and "integrity" were added. "We must reflect," he said adding that B R Ambedkar did painstaking work on the Constitution and he must have "surely focussed on it". His remarks at a book launch event here came after the RSS on Thursday called for reviewing the words 'socialist' and 'secular' in the Preamble of the Constitution , saying they were included during the Emergency and were never part of the Constitution drafted by Ambedkar. Live Events The Congress and other opposition parties have slammed RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale's call for a national debate on whether the terms 'secular' and 'socialist' should remain in the Preamble, terming it "political opportunism" and a "deliberate assault" on the soul of the Constitution. As Hosabale's strong pitch for a review of the two words inserted in the Preamble of the Constitution during the Emergency days (1975-77) kicked up a political row, an article published in an RSS-linked magazine Organiser said it is not about dismantling the Constitution but about restoring its "original spirit", free from the "distortions" of the Congress' Emergency-era policies. Union minister Jitendra Singh and senior BJP leader sought to defend the call by the second senior most functionary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS), saying any right-thinking citizen will endorse it because everybody knows that these words were not part of the original Constitution written by Dr B R Ambedkar.
