Will Zalatoris out for season following back surgery
"This spring, I started feeling some discomfort and instability in my back that progressively got worse," he posted on social media. "Following the PGA Championship, an MRI showed that I had re-herniated two discs. After discussing the options with my medical team, I underwent surgery this past Friday with Dr. Michael Duffy at the Texas Back Institute.
"I'm happy to say that I woke up feeling good and excited about my long-term back health."
Zalatoris, 28, previously underwent disc surgery in April 2023.
He missed the cut earlier this month at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. His best finish this season was a T12 at The American Express in January.
Zalatoris has one career PGA Tour victory (2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship) under his belt, although he has runner-up finishes at the 2021 Masters, 2022 PGA Championship and 2022 U.S. Open.

Standing side by side with The Salvation Army's critical response, we are also donating $500,000 to provide immediate resources for rescue, relief and long term recovery efforts.' Jones net worth is a reported $17.8billion, with some believing the money given in the name of his sports team, which is also valued at over $10billion, is just pocket change at a time of need. '$500k donation represents a 0.09% of the record $564M operating income in 2024,' one Cowboys fan said. 'A multi billion dollar franchise donates what now,' a second Dallas supporter stated. '500k is crazy,' a third added. 'Wow, 1/1000th of their worth,' a fourth continued. 'You can do more, Jerry,' a fifth concluded. The Cowboys' in-state rivals, the Houston Texans, also made a similar donation around 24 hours before the Dallas-based team. However, fans didn't appear to offer the same criticism towards the Texans over the size of their donation. The director of Camp Mystic was killed while trying to save girls from the horrific flooding that swept through the Texas summer camp. Richard 'Dick' Eastland, 70, died while trying to rescue campers from the biblical rushing waters that struck the state on July 4. At least 11 girls and one counselor are missing from Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas, and five of their fellow campers have died after the rushing waters destroyed the all-girls private Christian summer camp. Scores of rescuers are still searching for the missing children from the Camp Mystic summer camp and many others after a wall of water rushed down a river in the Texas Hill Country during a powerful storm.

Guardians place OF Lane Thomas (foot) on injured list
July 6 - Cleveland Guardians outfielder Lane Thomas returned to the 10-day injured list on Sunday because of plantar fasciitis in his right foot. The move, retroactive to Saturday, came after Thomas exited the 2-1 home loss to the Detroit Tigers after five innings on Friday and sat out the 1-0 setback to the Tigers the following day due to the injury. The Guardians have lost nine consecutive games. In a corresponding move, the Guardians recalled rookie infielder Will Wilson from Triple-A Columbus. Wilson, who turns 27 on July 21, batted .176 (9-for-51) in 24 games after making his major league debut in April. He hit .308 with eight home runs and 24 RBIs in 36 games with Columbus. July 6 - The Dallas Cowboys are donating $500,000 to the Salvation Army to assist in recovery from the flooding that has devastated the Texas Hill Country, the team announced Sunday. The Houston Texans said Saturday they also were donating that same amount. As of 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, state officials had confirmed at least 59 deaths in Kerr County and acknowledged there were 11 girls missing from Camp Mystic along the Guadalupe River. A wall of water swept over the area after heavy rainfall saw the Guadalupe River rise 26 feet in less than an hour early Friday morning.
