Drummer Josh Freese reveals hilarious list of 'reasons' he got fired from Foo Fighters

Yahoo20-05-2025
Josh Freese has joked he got "booted" from Foo Fighters for whistling 'My Hero' too much.
The 52-year-old drummer joined the 'Best of You' rockers in 2023 following the death of Taylor Hawkins the previous year, before being let go over the weekend with "no reason" given in the phone call.
He has now released a tongue in cheek list of the "top 10 possible reasons Freese got booted from the Foos".

From 10 to one, he quipped he "once whistled 'My Hero' for a week solid on tour" and "could only name one Fugazi song".
At number eight, he joked: "Two words: polyrhythms."
He teased that he "metronome-like precision behind the kit" had been deemed "soulless", and joked that he "demanded started every rehearsal with a 20 minute cowbell sound bath".
Referencing Dave Grohl's iconic look, Josh quipped he "never even once tried growing a beard", and that he "didn't show up to the studio because Mercury was in retrograde".
Offering other potential reasons for his split, he joked that he "promised" The Offspring's Noodles that he "could be 4th guitarist", and "refused to perform unless he was guaranteed a Ouija board and nunchucks after every show".
In the number one spot, he teased that "the whole poodle thing was getting to be a bit much".
Freese previously insisted no reason was given for his firing.
He wrote on Instagram: "The Foo Fighters called me Monday night to let me know they've decided 'to go in a different direction with their drummer.'
"No reason was given. :( Regardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band.
"In my 40 years of drumming professionally, I've never been let go from a band, so while I'm not angry – just a bit shocked and disappointed.
"But as most of you know I've always worked freelance and bounced between bands so, I'm fine. Stay tuned for my 'Top 10 possible reasons Josh got booted from the Foo Fighters' list."

Soundside Music Festival in Connecticut cancels 2025 event over ‘circumstances beyond our control'

Party's over. Connecticut's popular Soundside Music Festival shocked fans when it abruptly cancelled its star-studded event two months before its opening day. 'Due to circumstances beyond our control, [the] Soundside Music Festival has been cancelled,' organizers announced in a statement on the festival's official website on Friday. 'Tickets will be refunded to the original method of payment in as little as 30 days depending on your bank's processing time.' Advertisement 4 The Soundside Music Festival was cancelled on Friday. NBC CT/Instagram Festival organizers didn't go into detail about what caused the cancellation. Thomas Gaudett, the chief administrative officer for Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim, alleged the festival was having trouble selling tickets, according to the CT Insider. Advertisement 'It's our understanding that this year's lineup was drawing a lot fewer attendees than we have seen in the last few years,' Gaudett told the outlet. 'And that may have had an impact on the decision to cancel.' The cancellation allegedly blindsided Bridgeport officials, who insisted the city was 'not involved in the decision-making process' and were told the project was being pulled after the decision was 'finalized,' the outlet added. The Post reached out to the festival for comment. 4 The festival already announced its lineup before the event was cancelled. Ticketmaster Advertisement The festival was originally scheduled for Sept. 27 and 28 at Seaside Park in Bridgeport. It had already announced a massive lineup of alternative and electronic dance artists, including The Killers, Weezer, Hozier, Vampire Weekend, Alex Warren, and DJO. The festival wiped its social media accounts, including its Instagram and Facebook pages, which had over 52,000 combined followers after the announcement. Fans have complained about ticket prices in recent months, according to a public Facebook fan page for the festival. Advertisement General admission for a single-day ticket to the festival started at $170, according to the Soundside Music Festival's now-deleted ticket page. 'Maybe if they weren't so greedy with the high ticket cost there would have been higher volume of tickets sold,' one Facebook user speculated on the fan page. 'I personally wasn't into the lineup this year, but everyone has different taste,' another added. 4 The Killers were scheduled to headline on Saturday. 4 Hozier was announced as the headliner on Sunday. Getty Images Last year, the festival had record attendance, with 57,000 concertgoers swarming the waterfront festival — despite the Foo Fighters dropping out late, according to the CT Post. Officials had expected 32,000 people to show up. The Foo Fighters withdrew from the headlining gig after frontman Dave Grohl revealed that he cheated on his wife, Jordyn Blum, and welcomed a daughter outside of his marriage. Previous headliners included John Mayer, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Nicks and Dave Matthews. The inaugural Sound on Sound festival, which was eventually rebranded as the Soundside Music Festival last year, took place in 2022 and was produced by Governor's Ball producers Tom Russell and Jordan Wolowitz, Live Nation, and developer Howard Saffan, according to CT Insider.

Listen: Marina releases 'I'm Not Hungry Anymore' for 'Froot' anniversary

July 25 (UPI) -- Welsh singer-songwriter Marina celebrated the 10th anniversary of her album Froot by releasing the previously-unreleased track "I'm Not Hungry Anymore." The song dates from the era of the Froot recordings, but never saw official release until hitting digital platforms Friday to coincide with its inclusion on the "10 Year Anniversary Version" of the album, which also released Friday. "Originally released in 2015, Froot was a turning point in Marina's career, showcasing her songwriting and artistic independence," Marina's website states. The album was released under the stage name Marina and the Diamonds, which the singer has since dropped in favor of simply Marina. Marina's latest album, Princess of Power, released June 6.

Cardiff family says sunbed battle in Torremolinos 'like Hunger Games'

A holidaying family of six say they were forced to join 'Hunger Games' style sunbed wars with other guests to secure the best spots by the swimming pool. Leah Keenan was left shocked after they witnessed the extreme rush for loungers at their hotel. They say some others staying there jumped over fences to beat the queues. The 36-year-old even had to wait over three hours on their first day to get one bed among six of them. The health and safety business partner jetted off abroad with her son Albie, mother Bev, father Terry, sister Lowri and her son Leo. The family were staying at the four-star Hotel Triton, Benalmadena, near Torremolinos, Spain. Leah joked that the rush for beds in the morning was like the Hunger Games, with a lack of staff available to police the flood of guests. The pool opened at 10 am with very serious holidaymakers queuing up for over half an hour at the £185-a-night, four-star. During their stay, Leah even spotted a few cheeky guests sneaking round the back and hopping over the fence to secure the best beds. Fortunately, the family from Cardiff, were able to make light of the event despite being forced to join in. 'It was like the Hunger Games of reserving sunbeds every morning,' Leah joked. 'Some days we weren't able to get enough sunbeds, and one day someone just grabbed one of our empty sunbeds whilst one of the family had gone to get a coffee. 'A few guests snuck around the side of the pool and jumped over the fence early to secure beds, whilst others threw their towels over the fence early so that the beds were reserved.' She said: 'When we arrived on day one, around 11am, there were no sunbeds available all day for us. We kept walking around each pool and were able to get one sunbed at around 2pm. I didn't see any lifeguards by the children's pool all day and didn't stop people from jumping the fences or throwing towels over. 'No staff walked around to check if beds were being used or if people hadn't returned to their sunbed after putting towels on it. Which allowed for the majority of people to dump their towels and then leave sunbeds empty for hours on end. 'It became a running joke every day for our family, and we didn't take it too seriously.' Hotel Triton has been approached for a comment.
