Watch Texas A&M's comeback win, including two grand slams in 15-12 win over South Carolina
Texas A&M (20-15, 6-9 SEC) has been resurrected from the college baseball graveyard after sweeping South Carolina, capping things with Saturday' epic comeback win after trailing the Gamecocks 12-2 before storming back with two consecutive grand slams in the bottom of the night, improbably winning 15-12.
According to Texas A&M's Associate Director, Athletic Communications Kyle Stafford, Texas A&M is only the 30th team in Division 1 history to hit two grand slams in the ninth inning, while the 10-run comeback is the largest in program history since at least the 1974 season. Momentum-wise, this is a step in the right direction, as the road only gets tougher with road tests against No. 1 Arkansas and rival Texas over the next two weekends looming.
Two weeks ago, it looked like the season was all but over until consecutive wins over then-No. 1-ranked Tennessee on the road was the start of what is now a six-game winning streak, and after Saturday's finish, it looks like the Aggie bats are no longer a nagging issue.
After Blake Binderup's home run, paired with two more runs in the seventh inning, the Aggies trailed 12-7 entering the bottom of the ninth, leading to 12th Man representative Hayden Schott hitting the first grand slam of the inning, and after Ben Royo, Nathan Tobin, and Bear Harrison loaded the bases once again, Kaeden Kent, with two outs, took full advantage of an inside fastball, blasting the pitch for his second, ninth-inning grand slam of his Aggie career.
Hayden Schott is one of the best situational hitters in the country, so credit to head coach Michael Earley for placing him in the lineup to give the offense a chance. For Kent, he is officially Mr. Clutch and will continue to be counted on this season to deliver big hits in key situations.
Before facing Arkansas on the road, starting on Thursday, Texas A&M will host Tarleton State on Tuesday night, looking to extend its winning streak to seven games.

Veteran DT confirms his return to Steelers on social media
Non-earth shattering news: I'm signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers The Steelers are bringing back a familiar face to their defensive line. On Friday, NT Breiden Fehoko confirmed through social media that he was returning to Pittsburgh — which comes at the perfect time, as a trio of defensive linemen recently suffered knee injuries at training camp. Fehoko, who signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2020, spent three seasons in Los Angeles before joining the Steelers on a one-year deal in April 2023. He re-signed with Pittsburgh in March 2024 but was placed on injured reserve in August 2024, leading to his release with an injury settlement shortly after. He would rejoin the practice squad in October — but didn't appear in a game during his two years in the Steel City. The 6'3", 300 lb defensive lineman will use every opportunity at his disposal to make the 53-man roster this season — and while he faces an uphill battle, it's entirely possible as the Steelers deal with multiple injuries throughout their defensive line depth. Madden NFL 26 top CB ratings revealed — where does Steelers' Jalen Ramsey rank?
EA just dropped the top-10 player ratings at each position for Madden NFL 26 — and the newest Steelers cornerback, Jalen Ramsey, has been recognized as one of the best in the game. Here are the newly released Madden NFL 26 player ratings for the top-10 cornerbacks — with Ramsey tied as the third-best at his position. Ramsey is expected to play a vital role in the Steelers' secondary this upcoming season — forming a talented trio of CBs with Joey Porter Jr. (80 overall) and Darius Slay Jr. (84 overall). One of the most versatile corners in the NFL, Ramsey brings an abundance of tools to Pittsburgh's defense — including his infamous trash talking, which would without a doubt be a 99 if it were a Madden rating. FAMU football first 2025 practice: Competition, 'details' on forefront at training camp
The cleats were in the grass, and the whistles were blowing on Friday, Aug. 1. That means Florida A&M football began its training camp practice in preparation for the 2025 season, which opens against Howard on Aug. 30's Orange Blossom Classic at Miami Gardens' Hard Rock Stadium. The Rattlers used their grass practice field on Friday instead of performing on Ken Riley Field at Bragg Memorial Stadium's turf. It was the first time FAMU used the practice field since the 2023 season, which ignited enthusiasm from second-year head coach James Colzie III. 'It was exciting to get back on some grass,' Colzie told the media after Friday's practice. 'I thought it was a good day for the most part. But we still got a lot of work to do.' Friday was a non-contact day for the Rattlers in Tallahassee's sizzling 90-degree weather. The opening practice for the 2025 season primarily focused on reading and reacting to plays. 'Today was a detail day for us,' Colzie explained. 'It's about steps and eyes. The majority of the time, we were stepping and looking at the right things. And then the other times when we weren't, it showed.' Quarterback battle, offense vs defense shine in FAMU football's first practice FAMU's quarterback competition is officially underway. All five Rattlers quarterbacks, Traven Green, Tyler Jefferson, RJ Johnson III, Jett Peddy, and Bryson Martin, got reps on Friday. 'You want to make sure you give everybody an opportunity to win the position,' Colzie said of the race to become QB1. 'All five guys made some good throws and made mistakes.' The quarterbacks led the offense to a win over the defense in the competition period to open practice. However, the FAMU defense got after its offense with its pass rush for the remainder of practice. 'I think the defense was a little bit upset with it,' Colzie said of the unit losing the competition period. 'We put a lot of pressure on the quarterback today. Some of it might've been a little schematic, but it's just the talent we have up front,' the FAMU coach later added. Familiar and new faces make plays to open FAMU football's training camp The Rattlers' standout players, such as HBCU National Player of the Year candidates, offensive lineman Ashton Grable, and cornerback TJ Huggins, were center stage on Friday. Colzie also gave props to All-Southwestern Athletic Conference First Team offensive lineman Charles Davis and returning players trying to crack the starting lineup in defensive lineman Nick Dimitris and defensive back Ah'Mare Lee. The FAMU coach added that the Rattlers 'had some players that stepped up that people probably didn't know.' Tulane transfer tight end Guiseann Mirtil had a touchdown catch while former Temple wide receiver Jamar Taylor Jr. made 'about two or three catches' on Friday. 'I could be here talking all day about individual performances,' Colzie said. FAMU football coach James Colzie III hopeful to minimize penalties The first day of practice will always provide some extracurricular activities. It's a time when players vehemently prove they belong, which could lead to some banter or scuffles. 'We have to hope that our emotional maturity improves,' Colzie said. 'We got in a couple of fights today, but good teams may fight every once in a while. But it can't be a 'get-out,' something that's going to cost us penalties.' Last year, penalties cost the Rattlers games as they finished with a 7-5 record in Colzie's first season as head coach. In 2024, FAMU lost 73 yards per game due to flags, among the worst of Football Championship Subdivision teams. 'I've been around here for four years, and the head coach last year,' Colzie said. 'Those are the things that hurt us. So, we have to continue to improve on that. And today, we did not do that.'
