Swiggy adds Noon CEO to Board as SoftBank, Accel representatives exit

Food-delivery giant Swiggy has appointed Faraz Khalid, CEO of Middle Eastern e-commerce platform Noon, as an independent director, while two representatives of major investors resigned from the company's board.
The move, subject to shareholder approval, comes as Sumer Juneja and Anand Daniel—who represented SoftBank and Accel, respectively—stepped down from their non-executive director roles at the on-demand delivery platform.
"Faraz (Khalid) is among the most visionary leaders in e-commerce, bringing extensive expertise in integrating advanced technology, scaling operations, and delivering superior customer experiences," said Sriharsha Majety, Founder and Group CEO of Swiggy.
Khalid is the CEO of Noon, the Middle East's leading consumer commerce platform. Under his leadership, noon has evolved into an e-commerce, quick commerce, and food delivery platform. He previously co-founded Namshi, helping establish it as a regional fashion leader. Khalid is recognised for his strategic vision and innovation in shaping the region's digital economy.
Non-independent directors Sumer Juneja and Anand Daniel are stepping back from board representation following a period of significant progress and value creation at Swiggy. This transition reflects their confidence in the company's strategic direction, executive leadership, and governance framework.
With this natural progression after Swiggy's successful IPO last year, the board has made significant strides towards an independent structure, aligning with best practices for publicly listed companies.
"We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Sumer (Juneja) and Anand (Daniel) for their invaluable contributions," said Anand Kripalu, independent director and chairperson of Swiggy. "Both have been associated with Swiggy since the early days, and their confidence and counsel have been instrumental in helping the management team build Swiggy into one of India's most beloved consumer internet brands."

McDonald's And Swiggy Team Up For Limited-Time High-Protein Burgers

Swiggy and McDonald's launch high-protein burgers in 58 cities for a limited time. Swiggy has teamed up with McDonald's India (West and South) to launch a new range of high-protein burgers, available exclusively on the Swiggy app from July 24 to August 11 this year. The limited-time Protein Plus range will be available in 58 cities, including major hubs like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune and others. The new line of burgers is part of a health-focused initiative and has been developed in partnership with the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI). As per Business Today, each burger comes with a special protein slice made from soya and pea protein, which adds 5 grams of protein per slice without significantly increasing calories. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available. Popular items like Crispy Veggie Burger, McSpicy Premium Veg, McSpicy Premium Chicken, McCrispy Chicken, McSpicy Paneer, Masala McEgg, McAloo Tikki, McChicken and McVeggie are part of the new lineup. In addition to the protein upgrade, McDonald's is also introducing Multi-Millet Buns, developed with CFTRI, as per PTI. These buns are made using five different types of millets and add essential nutrients, vitamins and fibre to the burgers. Burgers like McAloo Tikki, McChicken, McVeggie, McSpicy Chicken and Crispy Veggie Burger will feature these healthier buns. 'We are proud to be the exclusive platform for the launch of McDonald's Protein Plus and Burgers with Millet Bun range online. As consumers become aware of the importance of protein in their diets, we know that they would not immediately shift away from their favourite items," said Sidharth Bhakoo, Chief Business Officer, Swiggy Food Marketplace, as quoted by PTI. 'The launch of this new range is a step forward in upping the protein consumption of consumers, while also enabling them to enjoy their favourite burger. This is just the start and I am sure we will partner with McDonald's in the coming months to launch more high-protein products for the Indian consumer," added Bhakoo. This initiative supports Swiggy's recent push toward healthier eating. Earlier this month, Swiggy introduced a 'High Protein' category with over 5 lakh dishes from more than 34,000 restaurants to help users easily discover nutritious meals. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Months after Ratan Tata's death, Tata Group makes big move, acquires 117-year-old company for Rs 24000000000; big worry for Mukesh Ambani due to...

(File) In a major move to further strengthen its grip on the luxury jewelry sector, Titan, the watchmaking and fashion products arm of the Titan Group, has acquired a controlling stake in Dubai-based jewellery brand Damas LLC (UAE). According to the details, Titan Holdings International FZCO has acquired a 67% stake in the 117-year-old brand from Mannai Corporation QPSC. How much Titan paid for the company? As per reports, Tata Group-owned Titan acquired Damas Jewellery for 1,038 million dirhams (about Rs 2,357.25 crore), one of the reasons behind the high-priced deal being the global popularity of the Dubai-based brand. Founded in 1907, Damas Jewellery, is a highly-popular jewelry brand in Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain. The brand has 146 stores across the Middle East, and is known for its high-quality gems and jewelry, as well as impeccable craftsmanship. Why Tata Group's deal is a concern for Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance? The Tata Group's landmark deal is expected to bolster its already popular designer jewelry brand Tanishq, which is already launched in several countries outside India, including Middle East and the United States. Titan is looking to build upon the success of Tanishq, and acquire a major share in the global jewellery market, and the Damas acquisition is giant step in that direction. Additionally, the deal could potentially catapult Titan far ahead of its competitors in India, including Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Gold, Malabar Gold and Kalyan Jewelers,
