Newcastle to revive Marc Guehi transfer bid but are £10million off Crystal Palace's valuation for defender
NEWCASTLE are set to rekindle their interest and launch another bid for England defender Marc Guehi. However, the Toon are £10million short of Crystal Palace 's valuation, according to reports. 3 3 The Times claims the Eagles are holding out for £50m for their star centre-back. Guehi has just one year left to run on his contract. And SunSport understands the defender may well stay at the club - along with Eberechi Eze - this summer, in spite of being in demand. Newcastle had three bids for Guehi rejected last year, while Tottenham saw a £70m offer turned down in January - months before the Eagles won the FA Cup. Liverpool were believed to be leading the race to sign Guehi this summer as part of their major spending spree to bolster their defence, particularly with Real Madrid sniffing around Ibrahima Konate. The Reds also value Guehi at around £40m, given the length of time left on his contract. But Newcastle's interest suggests they may have leapfrogged the Reds in the hunt for the in-demand defender. The Magpies welcomed Alexander Isak back on Monday after he trained at former club Real Sociedad after attempting to force a move to Liverpool. The Swedish striker has agreed personal terms with the Reds, but Newcastle rejected a £110m bid. Isak spent three hours at the training ground before leaving, as he recovers from his injury. 3 TRANSFER NEWS LIVE - KEEP UP WITH ALL THE LATEST FROM A BUSY SUMMER WINDOW With Isak expected to leave, the arrival of Guehi to shore up the other end would be a major coup. But SunSport can reveal both Guehi and Arsenal target Eze are potentially set to spend 2025-26 in South London. The Gunners are seemingly unwilling to trigger the England midfielder's £68m release clause. With Palace not needing to sell financially, they are unlikely to lower their demands and Arsenal could look at other targets. The Eagles have not received any firm offers for either player and are in no rush to sell. This is good news for the club's fans who are still reeling from their European heartbreak and the fact they look set to be demoted into the Conference League. The club's fans are still stunned at Uefa's decision having qualifed for the Europa League after winning the FA Cup. Palace's appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will be on Friday. They were demoted to the third-tier Conference League by Uefa's Club Financial Control Body in a multi-club ownership case. As things stand, they are set to .

Alan Shearer breaks silence on wantaway striker Alexander Isak - as the Newcastle legend laments the club's 'DISASTROUS' transfer window
Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has urged the club to move on from Alexander Isak with the striker's future still up in the air. The Swedish striker remains a target for Premier League champions Liverpool, with the club preparing another approach after their first official bid was rejected this weekend. Isak has played no part in the Magpies' pre-season preparations after ruling himself out with a thigh injury and spent last week training alone at his former club Real Sociedad. On Monday Isak returned to Newcastle's training ground with reports suggesting he will meet with Eddie Howe to discuss his future. Speaking on The Rest is Football, the Premier League record goalscorer lauded Isak's contributions during his time at St James' Park but insisted the club have to be ready to move on without him. 'I'm not angry at all towards him,' Shearer said. 🗣️ @AlanShearer: "No individual is bigger than any football club!" The Isak transfer saga has turned some heads 👀 — The Rest Is Football (@RestIsFootball) August 4, 2025 Eddie Howe has been forced to consider his options with Isak's future at the club in limbo 'Do I like it? Do I understand it? Probably two different things. But I know what football's about and I know how it works. 'Obviously Liverpool have been into him or his agent. I just thought it might have happened next year. 'And if it really is impossible for Eddie to turn him around and he says "no" and it sounds like that is the case, "I want to be out now" you get your big money for him and then you move on. 'As I said, no individual is bigger than any football club and if he doesn't want to be there, fine, get what you can and get him out and say thanks very much for the memories. Off you go.' Howe has been forced to deal with multiple transfer headaches this summer in addition to the uncertainty surrounding Isak's future. The club were linked with the likes of Liam Delap, Bryan Mbeumo and Hugo Ekitike but ultimately watched all three join their Premier League rivals. England international James Trafford was also on the club's radar before Manchester City re-signed their academy graduate last month. Shearer reflected on the dismal summer thus far: 'I think up to now it's been a disastrous window for Newcastle.'
