The Yorkshire Vet's heartbreaking news before welcoming new baby girl
The Yorkshire Vet 's David Melleney - though he's the first to admit that becoming a first-time dad is quite a learning curve - is in a happy baby bubble with wife Megan, 28, after the couple welcomed their first child on 19 May. And as they welcome OK! into their rural home in Holmfirth, Yorkshire for an exclusive interview, they also reveal why their journey was so emotional at times.
Speaking of his adorable firstborn, a little girl named Lilah Rose, David revealed: 'She's been amazing so far,' he beams, sitting next to wife Megan and Lilah, who has an impressive head of baby-soft dark hair. 'She's been sleeping and eating, but we've been warned that everything can change.'
The Channel 5 star married dentist Megan in a beautiful ceremony at Chateau du Doux, in France's Dordogne, in September 2023 – and Lilah is the the first grandchild for Megan's mum and dad, Steve and Della. But as the couple explain, when they found out they were expecting, Megan's family were going through a difficult time, a double loss which made them cautious about finding the right moment to break their happy news.
'I'd lost both my grandmas in the space of a month, and the day we found out was the day we were clearing out Nan's stuff from her house. My period was late, but I thought it might have been stress, so I did a test to check. It was a surreal and very emotional day", says Megan, reflectively.
'We decided to wait a couple of weeks to tell people, including Mum and Dad. My mum and my nan were really close so I just didn't think it was the right time. When we did tell them, everyone was overjoyed. I have one younger brother and we were pretty close to our cousins growing up, so the house was always full. I always knew I wanted to be a mum. No one in my generation has yet had a baby, so Lilah is already very spoiled.'
Aside from the sadness of family losses, Megan says her pregnancy was in general smooth-sailing - confessing she only stopped working when it got to the point where her bump made it hard to "bend over and use my arms'. And thankfully, after what in the end was a very swift labour, Lilah was born happy and healthy.
The couple spent one night in hospital before returning home for the very first time as a family of three, to a waiting charcuterie board and a bottle of wine which had been sweetly prepared by David's brother Peter and his parents Paul and Vicky. 'So I had a glass of wine and cried as I ate Parma ham, because that's how emotional you are when you get out of hospital,' Megan laughs.
Fans of The Yorkshire Vet can also expect to see Lilah make her TV debut soon, as David and Megan introduce their new addition to The Yorkshire Vet viewers in a special episode which includes her arrival.

Denise Welch was 'addicted to food' but shed 2.5st by doing one thing
The star has struggled with her mental health and binge eating for years. Denise Welch hasn't had the easiest of years so far, and just before Christmas the Loose Women favourite was forced to pull out of an acting job because of depression and anxiety. Her mental health is the biggest struggle the star has to live with, she revealed recently. 'Some people deal with diabetes, or MS or cancer — my thing is mental illness,' she tells OK! in an exclusive catch-up. 'I live with it, and I enjoy the periods in between my episodes.' Denise has now been back on the panel for a few months, but more change is on the way. In May, ITV announced it was merging production teams on three of its daytime shows, and cutting Loose Women and Lorraine back to 30 weeks a year, reports the Mirror. Although the channel insisted there wouldn't be any 'radical changes', there is some uncertainty about the future of the panel. But for Denise, who joined the show in 2005, it's an opportunity to make a return to acting. She said: 'I'm on television because I'm gobby and opinionated, and I think people can forget what I really do, and what I'm really good at, so I'm going to make a concerted effort to go back to what I do and know.' Denise says Loose Women holds a special place in her heart — not least because the average age of its stars is around 50. 'It's the only show in the country that not only celebrates older women, but reveres and listens to older women's opinions,' she says. Denise has become something of an icon for her age-defying looks and sassy attitude. At 67 she is bursting with confidence — whether people like her swimwear pics or not. 'Maybe I'm out to empower women, but I'm definitely out to say, 'F*** off, haters.' I've changed the narrative from 'I'm 67' to 'I'm only 67'. I'll wear swimwear if I live until I'm 97. And if you don't like it, don't look at my pictures. 'There's a lot of misogyny out there, too. So, there's an element of devilment in me as well, which is to say, 'Don't you ever tell any woman what she can and can't wear.' We had Christie Brinkley on Loose Women recently. She's 71 and looks unbelievable.' Denise, who shares sons Matty, lead vocalist in The 1975, and actor Louis, with her ex-husband Tim Healy, has worked hard on her confidence — but she says the starting point was giving up alcohol 13 years ago. The star had already risen to fame in acting roles including Rovers Return landlady Natalie Barnes in Coronation Street and teacher Steph Haydock in Waterloo Road, and she's now been famous for more years than she hasn't. 'I can't really remember a time before,' she says. 'It's just how it is for our family. 'Matthew is obviously really famous, and my other son, Louis, is playing the lead in Stranger Things in the West End. I go to the stage door and he's surrounded by people. 'I've always said to the boys, 'You're there because of those people, be as polite and respectful as you can be.'' When Denise got sober, she admits she quickly became 'in danger of replacing one addiction with another' — food. She was binge eating, she says, but signing up to LighterLife was about far more than shifting the extra two and-a-half stones. 'LighterLife was the only company talking about the emotional side of eating, and using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to completely change my relationship with food. She continues, 'I was very newly sober so many of the things that I was learning through CBT, I was able to apply to my sobriety also.' The repercussions of giving up booze spread far wider than just herself, though. 'My children, my marriage, everything, is down to my sobriety,' she says. 'It's given my children and my stepson, Lewis, the wings to fly without worrying about me. I'm proud of the people I have created as a friendship group around me. That's got to be something down to me? That I still have the same friends I had years ago, and that they love me and they support me. 'I'm proud of some of the things I've done as an actress. It might sound big-headed, but it's the one thing I say I'm f*****g good at. 'And I'm going to concentrate on reminding everybody of that!' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Josie Gibson's major new role at ITV as This Morning presenter takes on personal project
Josie Gibson will soon be seen on ITV's This Morning as she stands in for Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard while they take a break this summer. She'll also star in an ITV show. This Morning's Josie Gibson is set to transform her Somerset abode into the "dream home" she's always envisioned in an upcoming ITV series. The 40 year old television personality, who rose to fame after clinching victory on Big Brother in 2010, has since presented a variety of shows including Channel 5's Around The World In First Class and Channel 4's Ultimate Christmas Gift Guide With Josie Gibson. In addition to finishing fourth in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2023, Gibson has become a familiar face on This Morning and is gearing up to cover for Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard during their summer hiatus. Hailing from Bristol, the TV favourite is embarking on a project to revamp her Somerset residence with an emphasis on sustainable living. Her plans include installing a subterranean heat pump, cultivating her own produce, and establishing beehives on the property. Josie expressed her aspirations: "My dream is to build a house as eco and luxurious as possible, where you are immersed in the sanctuary of nature." She further elaborated on her vision: "I want to use the acres of land to try my best to have a little small holding. I want bees, birds, badgers to all live in harmony." However, she also voiced concerns about the project: "Though I'm becoming increasingly concerned that my harmonious dream is slowly turning into a construction nightmare. I can't wait to bring the audience along on this journey with me." Gibson won't be tackling the renovation solo; she'll be drawing on the expertise of her brothers, Josh and Charlie, who are scrap metal traders, and her cousin Tom. Together, they aim to construct a haven complete with an on-site gym, a walk-in wardrobe, and tinted windows. The seven-part series, Josie Gibson's Big Country Build, is set to air across ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player in 2026. Katie Rawcliffe, Director of entertainment and daytime for ITV, commented: "She's done a stint in the jungle and tackled all manner of outlandish tasks on This Morning, but our audiences are about to see a completely new side to Josie Gibson as she embraces country life and takes sustainable living to a whole new level." In a recent interview, Josie opened up about the challenges of juggling motherhood with her career. She said: "I often suffer from mum guilt. I beat myself up that I'm not with Reggie all the time because you never get that time back with your kid." Despite the tough choices she faced while forging her path in television, Josie now enjoys a more harmonious work-life balance. Reflecting on her journey, she revealed: "There was a point where I worked a lot - far too much - but I needed to get where I wanted to be, and I sacrificed time with him and that was really sad. These days, I have much more of a balance."

Love Island's Lauren Wood hits out at critics of relationship with Harrison
The star spilled the goss on her relationship with Harrison, who left the villa to be with her. Love Island's Lauren Wood has taken part in her first interview since her dramatic exit from the villa which ended in the star convincing Harrison to leave the series. The 26-year-old dog walker bid farewell to the villa on Friday July 18 after an unexpected turn of events saw her partner Ty Isherwood snatched away by newcomer Angel Swift. Despite enduring a chaotic relationship with 22-year-old footballer Harrison, Lauren attempted to rekindle their romance as she prepared to leave, urging him to exit the show with her. Following a good long think, Harrison decided to follow Lauren out of the villa after a 10-minute speech that took up a sizeable chunk of the episode. Lauren has since spoken out about their relationship, expressing that she is "100 per cent" willing to give their love another chance, despite Harrison's past indiscretions, reports OK! "I see myself being with him long-term as I haven't had a connection like that with someone in such a long time," she revealed. "I know what we had was real despite what everyone else thinks. He has done wrong and made stupid mistakes, but he knows that and believes it was the wrong thing to do." Lauren also mentioned that before her departure, Harrison took the time to sit with her and Toni to openly discuss his feelings. "Harrison sat down with both me and Toni and told her that he missed me and wasn't moving forward with her because he had me on his mind. When I found out that I'd been dumped, we did briefly speak about him leaving with me and I asked him to," she revealed. "I realise that we'd had a bad few days together since the recoupling when he coupled back up with Toni, so it was a big decision for him to make. It didn't really give him enough time so he said he'd sleep on it. I told him 'If you mean what you're telling me, you'll act on it.'" Harrison also clarified his emotions regarding Lauren following his surprising and drawn-out departure from the villa. Regardless of residing in Miami, the reality star expressed his dedication to maintaining a long-distance romance with Lauren after walking from the show. "We'll make the distance work! It will be no issue. We left on good terms but the two days prior to leaving we weren't talking properly so it would be good to have a conversation, get everything out in the open and hopefully move forward from there," he explained. "I feel very strongly about the girl, I wouldn't have left if I didn't. I have no doubt in my mind that she'll be my girlfriend one day. I'm buzzing to see her and reunite! She's such a great girl."
