Four killed, two injured in car crash on Sriganganagar highway
Jaipur: Four young men were killed and two others seriously injured after a speeding car crashed into a tree late Sunday night on the Sadulshahar-Hanumangarh state highway in Sriganganagar district.
The victims were cousins.
According to a police officer, the car was speeding when it veered off the road and slammed into a tree nearly 20 km from Sadulpur. Three passengers died on the spot, and the others were rushed to the district hospital in critical condition. One of them later died during treatment.
The police are probing the cause of the accident as different versions have come to fore. Initial findings suggest the group gathered inside the car to record Instagram reels before the accident.
However, the victims, who were cousins, left their homes after telling the family different excuses. One said he was going to get the car fixed, while another said they were going to visit a temple. The family members of one of the victims said they went to fix a marriage arrangement.
The police are investigating some videos posted on social media.
All six youths were said to be on their way to Hanumangarh. The collision left the car mangled beyond recognition.
Locals who witnessed the aftermath rushed to help and called the police.
The victims who died at the scene were identified as Wazir Singh (30), Sukhvinder Singh (21), and Balvinder Singh (18). Kulvinder Singh (23) succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Surendra Kumar (20) and Gagandeep Singh (20) survived but are in serious condition. Both are college students.
All the youths belonged to villages under Sadulshahar police station. The force of the collision was so great that rescuers had to work for a long time to retrieve the victims. Police handed over the bodies to the family members after a post-mortem examination. Further investigation is on.

Police have arrested six individuals linked to the group. On June 24, the founder of Haidari Dal, Nabi Hasan, was taken into custody. Authorities recovered 40 objectionable videos from his mobile phone. Earlier arrests include Unani medicine student Jaish Ahmad and engineering student Shanu on June 15 for circulating inflammatory material. On June 8, Shahbaz Raza alias Sufiyan and Sameer Raza were held for harassing women at Gandhi Udyan Park. Two others, Riyazuddin and Mufti Khalid, are still on the run. Investigators say Riyazuddin used his influence as an Imam of a mosque to raise funds and mobilise youth. He allegedly coordinated activities through a WhatsApp group where strategies were discussed and operations planned. Circle officer Ashutosh Shivam confirmed that search operations are underway across Bareilly and adjoining districts. 'We are focusing on Riyazuddin's financial links. The QR code used for donations could lead us to others involved in the network,' he said. The police's cyber team, along with the Special Operations Group and Surveillance Unit, have identified over 50 social media groups operating under variants of the name 'Haidri Dal', often combined with district or RTO codes. Senior officials said that while the group appears to be small and self-organised, the use of multiple digital platforms has made tracking it more complex. New videos posted online on June 13 show members confronting and assaulting a man for talking to a woman wearing a hijab. Police say Riyazuddin's dual role as an imam and group organiser allegedly allowed him to both inspire and direct operations, including the filming and online promotion of confrontations. 'We are committed to rooting out this network,' superintendent of police (SP) (City) Manush Pareek. 'Riyazuddin's role in coordinating and funding these activities makes him a key target.
