Made In Chelsea, Friendship Feuds And A Near-Death Experience - Sam Vanderpump Opens Up

Graziadaily2 days ago

He may enjoy stirring up the drama on Made In Chelsea, but off-screen, Sam Vanderpump is a lot more serious. The 28-year-old entrepreneur is the founder of currency exchange brokerage Vanderpump FX and is managing director of finance app Dapio.
Sam – who's the nephew of US reality TV star Lisa Vanderpump – is engaged to Alice Yaxley, whom he's been dating since July 2024. He proposed to the 23-year-old model, following his near-death experience with sepsis last year. This week, he sat down with Grazia to talk all things weddings, Made in Chelsea and life as a Vanderpump...
It's an exciting time for you right now, with Made In Chelsea, wedding planning…
I feel like my life went from being very quiet to everything coming full speed all at once. A lot of stuff is going on with Made In Chelsea, the wedding and my business. I'm also planning on starting a podcast, so everything's suddenly become very busy.
Were you inspired to propose because of how supportive she had been throughout your sepsis ordeal?
From the moment I met Alice, I knew she was the girl I was going to marry. I've never felt like that before about anyone. She's the female version of me – she's perfect in every single way. The only thing my sepsis episode did was speed it up because it made me realise how quick things can be taken away from you and I didn't want to waste time. All I want is to have a fantastic relationship with my family, get married and have children.
Are you planning a big wedding?
At the moment, we're thinking around 160-170 close friends and family. It will be in 2027.
Who will you invite from Made In Chelsea?
Ooh, that list changes daily. [Laughs] Some days it's the whole cast and others, it's limited to just Alice!
Will Reza be your best man?
No. Reza and I are very, very close – we've known each other for ten years plus – but the roles of best man and groomsmen will go to my brother and people I've known for 25 plus years.
Would your aunt Lisa appear on Made In Chelsea?
I would love her to come on. It'd be great for people to see the massive role she plays in my life. She's that father figure role for me – she tells me what to do, how to say it and make sure I don't make any mistakes. The biggest thing she said to me at my dad's funeral was, 'Don't f*** it up'. Only time will tell, but there are currently no plans for her to appear.
Sam Vanderpump with his elder brother Jack and their aunt Lisa ©How are things going with Tristan [Phipps]?
Any plans to make amends?
I'd rather stick pins in my eyes.
What are your plans for Made In Chelsea?
At the moment, I enjoy doing Made In Chelsea. I love it, it's enjoyable and as long as it remains like that and my goals align with the show, I'll continue to do it. But who knows what the future holds. There are endless possibilities. Only time will tell.

Zara McDermott breaks silence on Sam Thompson and Louis Tomlinson's pitch-side run-in as she insists it is 'non-existent drama' and discusses focusing on 'real relationships'

Zara McDermott has opened up about her split from Sam Thompson for the first time, revealing she's found the 'non-existent drama' around the break-up 'frustrating'. The Love Island star turned presenter, 28, made headlines this year following the end of her and the former I'm A Celeb winner's relationship in January. They'd enjoyed five years together, with much of their romance documented on Made In Chelsea, but Zara swiftly moved on with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, 33. Zara and her new flame seemed smitten as they enjoyed dates and romantic getaways before Louis and Sam came face-to-face for the first time at Soccer Aid earlier this month. A seemingly awkward interaction ensued, with Louis reportedly blanking Sam following the match at Old Trafford despite holding 'peace talks' at the team hotel earlier. The woman at the centre of the drama was however nowhere to be seen, with Zara now admitting the reaction to her love life has been 'frustrating'. Addressing their pitch-side run-in, Zara told The Sun: 'The only thing in my life worth writing about is the work I do.' The star also revealed that, despite still posting glamorous snaps to her Instagram, she no longer spends much time on social media and is more grounded in her 'relationships'. 'I don't care about social media as much as I used to, or about the aesthetic or the image, I value so much real relationships and real support around me, and being that to other people,' she added. 'I'm a totally different person to the one I was when I was 21 years old and stepped into what appeared to be a glitzy world of showbiz, my day to day life is not at all glitz and glamour.' After Zara's moved on with Louis back in March, Sam also found himself a new love interest a couple of months later. The reality star - who recently completed an incredible five-day trek from London to Manchester - became involved with Love Island beauty Samie Elishi, 25. Sam and Samie first sparked romance rumours when they shared a passionate and steamy smooch outside Olivia Attwood's birthday party in May. But just this week MailOnline exclusively revealed that the couple had called a time on their fling due to conflicting working schedules. Sam's endeavours with charity in recent weeks coupled with Samie's jet setting with brands to countries such as Greece and Spain reportedly meant a relationship for the couple was not feasible. A source told MailOnline: 'Sam and Samie's romance just fizzled out, there was so much attraction between them initially, but their busy schedules made it difficult for them to spend quality time together. 'For Sam, it was his first relationship since his split from Zara and the feeling is he would rather concentrate on work before getting into another long-term commitment.' And Sam seemingly got straight back to work on finding a new romance, with the star spotted on celebrity dating app Raya just hours after the end of his latest romance. Snaps on his profile showed the reality star at Soccer Aid earlier this month, as well as posing alongside famous pals, including best friend Pete Wicks and fellow I'm A Celeb campmate Marvin Humes. The split came just a day or so before Zara and Louis were spotted putting on a loved-up display as they enjoyed a stroll through Glastonbury on Thursday. The pair cut low-key figure as they soaked up the Somerset sun at the iconic event. The split came just a day or so before Zara and Louis were spotted putting on a loved-up display as they enjoyed a stroll through Glastonbury on Thursday Meanwhile Zara, who also sported sunglasses, wore an black adidas top with dark trousers and tied back her long blonde locks in a ponytail. Louis donned a graphic football shirt which he teamed with black cargo trousers and shielded his famous features beneath shades and a baseball cap. It came just hours after Louis was spotted smoking with friends in what was believed to be a lad's only trip and weekend of partying. The pop star later supported Zara, who he was first linked to in March, as she spoke on a panel for charity Refuge, for a talk entitled How to Create Societal Change: Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls. A source told The Sun: 'Zara looked a bit nervous but kept smiling at Louis and he made sure he was in her eyeline and was beaming back at her. 'It was really sweet to watch, they certainly seem very smitten with each other. 'He disappeared just before it ended so he could go back stage and be reunited with her, but it was heartwarming to see him being a dutiful, loved up boyfriend.'

Sam Thompson is reportedly looking for love again on swish celebrity dating site, Raya, after the Mirror revealed he and Love Island's Samie Elishi had cooled their romance Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson, is back on celebrity dating app, Raya, just hours after his split with Samie Elishi. The Mirror reported that Sam, 32, and Love Island star, Samie, 25, have called it quits despite being papped locking lips in the street a few weeks ago, with a source telling us: "They both have busy lives, it just didn't work out." Since his split with Samie - and shock separation from ex-girlfriend, Zara McDermott, in December – Sam is now said to be looking for love after taking to 'Tinder for the illuminati', Raya, to connect with a whole host of famous faces, who have been granted access to the exclusive dating site. ‌ ‌ Sharing screenshots of Sam, reportedly taken from Raya, in which the reality star can be seen larking around with best pal, Pete Wicks in photos which display his name, age and occupation - listed as: 'Presenter/podcaster' - the Mail reports his profile on the site is active. Sam was said to have last been seen on the app, which has been described as 'Tinder for the illuminati' because of its celebrity clients, in March, in the wake of his split from Love Islander, Zara. Meanwhile, Zara has now moved on with One Direction star, Louis Tomlinson, which is said to have left Sam, 'blindsided'. However, after they split, he got back out there and started dating Samie, who he had met during an episode of Love Island's Aftersun. Last month, the pair were spotted in an intimate embrace outside the birthday party of Olivia Attwood, held at Mayfair's Bacchanalia. Cupping Samie's face in his hands, Sam seemed oblivious to onlookers as his fans got quietly excited that a new romance was on the cards. Samie seemed positive about the relationship as she discussed her exes on the Chloe Mediumship podcast. Revealing she had a "gut feeling" in the past about things that 'weren't mean to be', she said she was currently feeling good about her relationship, saying: "There's been no bad stuff at the minute so yeah I suppose it is all positive right now. It's early days." ‌ Meanwhile, Sam discussed being single on his podcast with co-host Pete. He said on Staying Relevant that he felt like he was "ready to get out there", explaining: "I feel like I'm at a stage now where I feel confident enough that I can start approaching females." He added: "I feel good, things are really really nice at the moment. And I feel like I'm happy. There's no more brave faces', causing Pete to proudly declare: 'Sam's ready to date!'." However, it looks like Sam is back on the market and will soon be swiping up a storm as he hops back on Raya, looking for love again.

Pregnant Sophie, 30, who dated Sam for six months in 2018, was at the event with husband Jamie Laing. Jamie, 36, later took to Instagram to share a snap of them posing together with Fearne Cotton. But Fearne, 43, later took a swipe at Jamie and Sophie after they shared a clip of them recreating Meghan and Harry's infamous 'Baby Mama' dance on the Grand Staircase. Jamie posted the video to his 1.6 million Instagram followers, writing: 'They said we couldn't film in Buckingham Palace." After Jamie and Sophie posted their hilarious video mocking the Sussexes, Fearne appeared to take a dig at the pair. Writing in the comments next to video, the podcaster said: 'You also had your pap camera out with a flash. "Think of what the flash has done to those priceless paintings." Sam and Sophie got together while starring on Made In Chelsea but she ended their relationship because he gave her too much attention. She told new! magazine: 'His best [attribute] was he doted on my hand and foot, but his worst was maybe that he doted on me too much. 'Some girls like that, I don't. For me, I don't like someone who's needy. Independence is key.' Sam and Samie confirmed they were dating in early May when they were spotted sharing a steamy kiss on a night out. But yesterday an insider told us of their split: 'It was a mutual thing and there is no bad blood between them. "They both just have really busy schedules, particularly Sam who has been non-stop recently, and it was really hard to make it work. They're still good mates. "It's a shame but sometimes things just don't work out.' Their romance came after Sam split from Zara McDermott in January. Zara, 28, is now in a relationship with One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson.
