Kuberaa opened to strong reviews from fans and critics alike, especially for its engaging storyline and cast performances.
Kuberaa, the Dhanush, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer crime drama has been enjoying a successful run at the box office. The film, which opened to strong numbers and saw a solid first-week run, has slowed down significantly in its second week. Despite that, it has managed to cross the Rs 80 crore mark and is now heading towards the Rs 85 crore mark at the domestic box office.
According to sacnilk.com, Kuberaa minted Rs 80 Lakhs on its second Wednesday, taking the film's total 13-day collection to Rs 83.55 crore Nett in India across all languages.
The film witnessed a grand opening weekend, collecting Rs 14.75 crore on Day 1, Rs 16.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 17.35 crore on Sunday. In its first week, Kuberaa collected Rs 69 crores across all languages.
Kuberaa opened to strong reviews from fans and critics alike, especially for its engaging storyline and cast performances.
Megastar Chiranjeevi, who attended the film's success party, said no one else could have played the character of Deva better than Dhanush, and that he couldn't recognise Dhanush at first while watching the film because the actor seemed so immersed in the character.
'Deva is the character in this film who touched my heart the most. 'No one else can play this character except Dhanush," he said. 'It has become a regular affair for you. But let me wish you well in advance. Congratulations, the award for best actor should come to you. If you win, everyone will be proud. Otherwise, there is no point to National Awards. Certainly, you will win."
Apart from Dhanush, Nagarjuna and Rashmika, the film also features actor Jim Sarbh in the leads. Devi Sri Prasad composed the music for the film, and Niketh Bommi did the cinematography. Ramakrishna Sabbani and Monika Nigotre are the production designers of the film, which has been co-written by Chaithanya Pingali.
Kuberaa depicts the story of Deva, a beggar whose life gets altered by an encounter with Deepak, a former CBI officer. The film addresses themes of greed, power, and redemption via a social and political storyline. Deva gets caught in a world of black money laundering and shadow finance, while Deepak, initially honest, is dragged into a corrupt system.

Producer of Akshay Kumar's Rs 300 crore box office flop has built and sold 45 buildings in Mumbai, owns a two-acre studio in London

Actor Akshay Kumar has had a difficult run at the box office in the last few years, with around a dozen flops to his name. His latest film, Housefull 5, did decently well but the film had a massive star cast to share the credit of the success. Before that, Kesari Chapter 2, did moderately well, as did the action movie Sky Force. But neither of them was a hit. Several of his biggest recent flops, films such as Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (BMCM), Mission Raniganj, and Bell Bottom, were all produced by Pooja Entertainment, the banner operated by Vashu Bhagnani and his son Jackky. The duo were under fire last year when many people who worked on BMCM alleged that they hadn't been paid for their services after the film flopped. Produced on a reported budget of Rs 300 crore, the movie made just around Rs 100 crore globally. The same was the case with Ganapath, starring Tiger Shroff, which made less than Rs 20 crore. In fact, the banner hasn't released a proper hit film in two decades. But the Bhagnanis don't rely completely on the movie business to earn a living. They also have a flourishing real estate and construction arm, and Vashu Bhagnani spoke about it in a recent interview. Chatting with Ronak Kotecha on YouTube, he said, 'I went to London in 2018, and I wondered what to do. So, I bought a building in Mayfair. Then, I made five or six movies there… I'm a developer. I don't believe in making money by investing your own money in projects. I make buildings like I make films… I'm the only person from Bollywood who has set up a studio in London. We have two floors with 60-foot high ceilings. It's a two-acre property, I have a VFX set-up there, I have vanity vans there.' Also read – Vashu Bhagnani says people claimed he was bankrupt, had run away after Bade Miyan Chote Miyan; answers if he's paid everyone: 'Even if I haven't, what's your problem?' He continued, 'I can't even speak English properly. When I was going to London, my daughter told me, 'What will you do there? You can't even speak English properly, and you won't understand what they're saying'. I said, 'Let me try'. As soon as I landed, I set up a studio there. I made two buildings, and I made six films in five years. I used to make one building and one film, one building and one film. I've made 45 buildings in Mumbai so far, and they've all been sold. But I never sold the IP of my films. I still own my movies…' In the same interview, he spoke about the difficulties he experienced after the BMCM controversy. 'I was very upset by those stories. Imagine that I was actually bankrupt and I'd sold off my building. If I had actually sold it off, it would've been to pay people back, right? What's wrong in that? I'm not a corporate employee, I'm doing business. If I suffer a loss, I will have to make up for it. But people spun this into a negative story. They said I've run away, that I don't have money for food, that I couldn't even afford flight tickets,' he said.

Vivek Oberoi says he raised Rs 8,500 crore for his companies in just one year: ‘Marry Silicon Valley with Marwari mindset'

Actor Vivek Oberoi said that he grew disillusioned with the film industry, which prompted him to focus on his business ventures. The actor has worked actively in Bollywood for over two decades, but is now increasingly turning to the entrepreneurial side of his life as his primary source of sustenance. In the last year alone, he said that he has raised around $1 billion (Rs 8,500 crore) for the 12 companies that he is currently a part of; two of these companies, he said in a new interview, are ready to go public. He is said to be worth Rs 1,200 crore. Chatting with CNBC TV-18, Vivek said that he was inclined towards business from a very young age, thanks to his father, Suresh Oberoi. 'He was always an investor, he was buying and selling land, accumulating land. He made money always. Land was my first introduction. When I was nine or 10, he would suddenly show up with inventory. One year was perfumes, the other year it was electronics… I would fill it up in my backpack, and go door to door. At the end of the day, he would ask me for my 'khata book', and let me keep only the profit. He'd take the cost from me,' Vivek said. Also read – Vivek Oberoi reveals his money-lending business is valued at nearly Rs 3,400 crore, says he travels by economy when he's in start-up founder mode Vivek said that after spending some years in the film industry, he realised that he was just going around in circles and ending up in the same place that he started. 'I didn't enjoy that. It wasn't empowering. I enjoyed being there and collaborating with certain people, but collaboration needs to be a circular give-back. People need to pick people with talent, and give them advice, or a platform, or support. That's something that was missing in the ecosystem,' he said, adding, 'It was about either going down a spiral of pessimism, or stop banging my head against that door and open an another one instead.' This is when he decided to pivot to business. He said, 'I'm not averse to obnoxious capital. In the past year itself, across my companies, we would have raised over $1 billion. That is a substantial sum. That isn't the problem. But where that capital pipeline deploys and how is that growth protected… Somewhere, you have to marry Silicon Valley with a Marwari mindset. That marriage has to happen.' Vivek said that even when Bollywood producers and directors would 'copy' international films, they would infuse them with 'desi tadka'. 'So, why not in business?' he asked rhetorically. In an earlier chat with SCREEN, Vivek spoke about his decision to move away from films. 'It was only around 2009 when I decided I didn't want to be completely dependent on this and built my economic independence. I didn't want to be in a situation where a lobby could decide your future. Somebody could bully you into doing something because they controlled things,' he said.
