'I don't see it working' - Man Utd urged to avoid move for £32m Chelsea star

Metroa day ago
Manchester United have been urged to reconsider a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as they look to provide Ruben Amorim with more attacking firepower.
Matheus Cunha has already arrived from Wolves, and United are still hoping to bring in Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford as part of a new-look attack for Amorim next season.
In addition, the Red Devils have been keen to add an out-and-out striker, particularly if Rasmus Hojlund were to leave the club.
United explored a deal for Liam Delap before he chose to join Chelsea, while Viktor Gyokeres has only had eyes for Arsenal despite the chance to reunite with former boss Amorim.
Ollie Watkins and Hugo Ekitike have been linked already this summer, but United are now reportedly one of several clubs considering a move for Chelsea striker Jackson.

The Senegal international, who joined from Villarreal for £32million two years ago, has notched up 24 goals and 10 assists in 65 Premier League appearances.
However, the 24-year-old finds himself down the pecking order after the arrivals of Delap and Joao Pedro, and as such the Blues are willing to entertain offers.
A deal for Jackson may not come from cheap with Chelsea in no need to sell, and former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes the deal may not be in United's interest.
'The problem you have is the lack of number nines and the price goes up,' he told talkSPORT.
'But with some of the strikers Man United have had over the years, I don't think he would get anywhere near the top category.'
Alan Brazil, meanwhile, feared that Jackson's wasteful finishing in front of goal would not make him a good match for a United side who struggled greatly to create regular chances last season.
'He can't finish,' the former United striker said. 'Well he can finish but he needs a lot of chances to score.
'And I would say he'd get more chances but Chelsea are a better side than Man United so I don't see it working. You never know and I wish him well but I don't see it working.' More Trending
Jackson endured a frustrating spell at the recent Club World Cup, failing to score in the United States and banned for two games after picking up a red card against Flamengo.
And given the impressive cameos from Delap and Pedro, Alan Shearer reckons that the writing could be on the wall for Jackson at Stamford Bridge.
'That wouldn't surprise me if he was sold to someone, whether in our country or not, that's one that wouldn't surprise me if they made that decision,' he said on The Rest Is Football Podcast.
'They've got some serious options in every forward position.'

Man United make move for £40m Brighton star who IS allowed to leave the club - but AC Milan are also jostling for his signature

Manchester United and AC Milan are both interested in Pervis Estupinan and Brighton are prepared to listen to offers for their Ecuadorian left back. Estupinan has given four years of excellent service at the Amex Stadium since his arrival for £20million from Villarreal. At 27, Brighton will not stand in his way if he wants to leave for another challenge and bids close to £40m would tempt them. Manchester United spent £25m on 20-year-old Patrick Dorgu, a Denmark international, from Lecce in January to operate at left wing back. They are also keen on Estupinan, who has much more experience and is proven in the Premier League as a solid full back with attacking threat. Milan have prioritised signing a new left back since losing France international Theo Hernandez to Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia. However, they are unlikely to have the spending power to compete with United or get close to Brighton's valuation. The Italians were outbid by Fenerbahce for Birmingham-born Archie Brown, who has moved to Turkey from Gent in Belgium for a reported fee of £7m.

Bryan Mbeumo offered chance to land dream Man Utd shirt number after £70m bid

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Bryan Mbeumo after offering Brentford £70m for their star man, which should be enough to get the deal over the line Bryan Mbeumo could be handed his dream shirt number of 19 if he can wrap up a move to Manchester United, with the digits currently available at Old Trafford. ‌ United are still locked in talks with Brentford but negotiations have dragged on for more than a month as the Bees look to get as much as possible for the Cameroon international, who cost them just £5.8million in 2019. ‌ There has been frustration over the low progress of discussions between the two clubs, but now United have submitted a third bid of £70m - hoping it can tempt Brentford into selling their star man. ‌ Mbeumo is keen on completing the move to Old Trafford and should the move come to fruition, it seems there will be an added incentive for the 25-year-old. He has always played in the No 19 shirt during his footballing career, having used the number for both Brentford and Cameroon on international duty. And if he joined United, he would be able to snap up that shirt number immediately because it is currently vacant. ‌ The last player who wore number 19 for United was defender Raphael Varane, who left the club last summer, joining Serie A side Como. It comes after United had two bids rejected for Mbeumo, the last one being worth around £62.5m - the same amount they paid to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves. ‌ The Bees have been adamant that United should pay them more than they did for Cunha because Mbeumo outscored the Brazilian last season and is also the younger player. But a deal is now likely to be agreed after United paid Brentford's asking price for the player - who has already thrashed out personal terms. He has also told Brentford he doesn't want to join any other club despite links to Tottenham, who were interested in the forward after recruiting his former Bees boss Thomas Frank. Mbeumo netted an impressive 20 goals in the Premier League for Brentford last season and is one of the most sought-after players in the top flight. He has scored a total of 70 goals in 242 appearances for the team since 2019, having started off in the Championship.

The TRUTH about Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez's 'release clause' amid Man United interest

The truth about Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez 's release clause can be revealed amid reported interest from Manchester United. Ruben Amorim 's side could be forced to sign a new goalkeeper after Andre Onana suffered a hamstring tear on the second day of pre-season training. The Cameroonian will be sidelined for between four and six weeks, potentially keeping him out of United's opening Premier League fixtures against Arsenal and Fulham as well. Earlier in the summer, United were linked with a move for Villa shot stopper Martinez, but talks appear to have gone quiet on that front. The Argentine was emotional at the end of the final home game of last season, against Tottenham on May 16, and while that does not guarantee his departure, it is thought Martinez would consider a new challenge. Reports in Argentina this week suggested United have regnited their interest in the former Arsenal star after finding out about his £21.6million release clause. However, Mailsport can reveal that Martinez does not have such clause in his contract. Even prior to Onana's injury last week, United were said to be in the market for a new goalkeeper amid his poor poor performances last season. United have put a £30million price tag on Onana, but he looks increasingly likely to stay at the club this summer. Mail Sport revealed that was the price quoted to Monaco when the French club inquired about signing Onana at the end of last month. Sources in France say that Monaco will continue to monitor the situation, but are unlikely to pay that much for the keeper. Saudi Pro League newcomers SC Neom had also been following Onana in the background for some time before signing Poland international Marcin Bulka from Nice in recent days. Onana is keen to stay and club sources say the probability is that he will remain as United's No 1
