It's no secret that Mamelodi Sundowns are one of the richest football clubs on the continent, but their actual squad value makes for some interesting reading.
For example, valued at R18.55 million according to transfermarkt.us, star goalkeeper Ronwen Williams doesn't crack the top-15 most valuable players in the Sundowns squad.
Top of the list in terms of market value is striker Lucas Ribeiro. The Brazilian is apparently worth a whopping R51.54 million.
Cape Town-born Iqraam Rayners comes in at number two with a market value of R49.48 million. The 29-year-old forward, however, is the most valuable South African in the star-studded Sundowns lineup.

Update on Kaizer Chiefs and Nigerian striker

Kaizer Chiefs followers have been desperate for clarity. Etiosa Ighodaro, who recently played on loan at AmaZulu, had supposedly signed for Amakhosi. With the Betway Premiership starting in less than a month, the 24-year-old Nigerian has still not been seen in a Kaizer Chiefs tracksuit. What's actually happening? Didn't his deal with Mamelodi Sundowns run its course? Kaizer Chiefs news: R70 million income and experienced number six The latest on Etiosa Ighodaro and Kaizer Chiefs move. Image: According to the latest report, the towering striker is still a Sundowns player until June 2026. Amakhosi are therefore waiting on Sundowns to make a decision on Ighodaro. Kaizer Chiefs news: Underfire striker and more signings 'At the moment Kaizer Chiefs are waiting on Sundowns,' an insider told Soccer Laduma . 'Ighodaro has one year remaining on his contract with Sundowns and only if they can release him first as a free agent or if they can buy him from the remaining months on his contract. 'But Chiefs are interested in him and depending on what Sundowns' decision is, then Chiefs would still sign him before the start of the season. Additional details say Sundowns are unable to register Ighodaro since the Betway Premiership champions already have five foreign players. The Kaizer Chiefs target will only qualify for his Permanent Residence Permit in 2026. 'As soon as he obtains his Permanent Residence Permit, then Sundowns are believed to be willing to keep him because he won't affect their foreign quota and then it would be difficult for Chiefs to sign him this season. 'But it's believed that if there is a fee to be paid then Sundowns would consider letting him go whether it's to Kaizer Chiefs or any other team,' the insider concluded. Mamelodi Sundowns pounce on star after Livingston visa blow

Mamelodi Sundowns look poised to land their first signing of the transfer window as they close in on a deal with highly-rated forward Aphelele Teto. Teto appears to have reached a mutual agreement with Scottish side Livingston FC to part ways after yet another failed visa application halted his move to the William Hill Premiership. The 22-year-old initially joined Livingston in 2023 on a four-year contract, having caught their attention during a European tour with TS Galaxy. However, bureaucratic red tape around work permits in the UK scuppered his plans before they could take off. Last season, Teto joined Chippa United on loan, a spell that earned him two international caps for Bafana Bafana in the CHAN qualifiers against Egypt. His national team appearances had briefly reignited hopes of qualifying for a work permit. Under the Scottish FA's rules, foreign players must meet strict benchmarks, such as a minimum percentage of national team appearances and a high FIFA ranking, to qualify for a permit. Although Teto's performances showed promise, they failed to tip the scale in his favour. 'The club can appeal to an Exceptions Panel,' explained a source familiar with the situation, 'but despite his international games, securing the visa remained an uphill battle.' With Livingston no longer able to hold onto the winger, Sundowns have made their move. The Premiership giants are believed to be offering Teto a permanent deal, seizing the opportunity to secure a dynamic attacker with international experience. Insiders say Livingston will continue tracking Teto's development. Keeping the door open for a future return to Europe once the visa hurdles are resolved. Concerns over the impact of repeated loan moves on his growth reportedly influenced Sundowns' decision to sign him outright. Offering Teto the stability he needs to reignite his career and push for more Bafana Bafana appearances. Will Teto make an impact at Mamelodi Sundowns? Kaizer Chiefs news: Sundowns decision pending, Nabi talks talent

Kaizer Chiefs remain in the dark over Mamelodi Sundowns striker Etoisa Ighodaro, who has one year left on his contract. 'At the moment Chiefs are waiting on Sundowns,' a source confirmed.' Ighodaro has one year remaining on his contract with Sundowns and only if they can release him first as a free agent or if they can buy him from the remaining months on his contract.' 'Kaizer Chiefs are interested in him and depending on what Sundowns' decision is then Chiefs would still sign him before the start of the season.' Competition is another roadblock for AmaKhosi with the 24-year-old forward reportedly weighing up his options, suggesting that a move to the Soweto giants is not set in stone if the Tshwane giants are willing to let him go. 'There's been a lot of talk about Ighodaro joining Chiefs, but the reports suggesting he has signed are inaccurate,' an insider revealed. 'He is still assessing his options both locally and abroad. Nothing has been concluded. Kaizer Chiefs will enter next season having underperformed in the previous two campaigns, failing to qualify for the MTN8 Cup on both occasions. The 2025/26 season will undoubtably be Nasreddine Nabi's defining test – endure a series of defeats and he could be out the door before Christmas. But it's not all doom and gloom for AmaKhosi, who have welcomed several stars, including Ethan Chislett and Flavio Silva. The gaffer mentioned how they handled the club's pre-season in Europe, saying, 'They need to fully jell with the group,' Nabi said. 'However, they are all adapting nicely, and they start to understand what I expect from them. Our objective was to sign new players that will bring us to a higher level compared to last season. 'We saw a lot of positives in our training matches against very strong Dutch opponents. The players have started to understand the way I want them to play, and they jell well as a strong unit.' 'We didn't only want quality opponents, we also wanted quantity. Parallel with this, we did some tough physical work at training, even doing double sessions on the day before a match… We even had two sessions the day after one of the friendlies, with the objective of getting the players mentally ready,' the Kaizer Chiefs boss concluded.
