Lexus UX300e offers enjoyable driving experience and refined interior

It's a vehicle that ticks enough of the right boxes to be worthy of consideration for those on the lookout for a small electric SUV.
Coming into 2025, the UX300e received a number of tweaks and revisions to increase choice for would-be buyers.
These include new model grades, revised equipment specifications, an improved interior finish, and an upgraded digital instrument display.
It's a car that also benefits from striking looks that are sufficient to turn a few heads as you drive along the high streets.
Sharp creases in the side of the vehicle catch the sunlight The tone is set by the eye-catching front grille, which blends nicely with some sharp angles and a contemporary headlight signature.
The bodywork is notable for the number of bold creases, while the look is completed by the full-width light bar at the rear.
Front seat head and leg room is excellent, although the driver has a relatively low seating position. Things are a bit more cramped in the back seats and the boot.
Behind the wheel, it's a comfortable and satisfying drive. The instant response from the electric motor makes it easier and safer when overtaking or pulling out at junctions, while the overall smoothness of the power delivery is a real plus-point.
The car's main battery has an increased usable capacity of 64kWh, compared to earlier versions that had 54kWh, and powers one electric motor driving the front wheels.
The vehicle looks smart from all angles That delivers 201bhp and 221lb ft of torque, with a 0-62mph time of 7.5 seconds.
The UX300e delivers agile handling and feels to have a lower centre of gravity than many of its SUV rivals. To enhance the vehicle's control in corners, Lexus has ensured that all heavier components are concentrated at the middle of the car.
For extra steering precision and driving refinement, the vehicle's GA-C platform has been stiffened by the extra rigidity of the underfloor battery and cross members.
The car has a distinctive grille The vehicle does a decent enough job of absorbing bumps in the road, but can feel a bit unsettled on broken or undulating B-roads.
At motorway speeds, it settles down nicely to provide a very relaxing drive, while longer motorway drives have been made easier by the new, bigger battery introduced within the last few years. Official figures suggest that up to 280 miles is possible on a single charge, but I found that to be closer to 250 in real world driving conditions, which is still reasonably good.
However, the charging situation isn't too good. The vehicle's rapid charging tops out at 50kW, which provides an 80 per cent charge in about 90 minutes. The UX uses a CHAdeMO socket for its DC rapid charging, which are not always easy to find because CCS tends to be more widespread.
The interior is refined and features premium materials The renamed entry point to the UX 300e is Urban grade, which comes with17-inch alloys, power adjustable front seats, heated steering wheel, wireless smartphone integration, reversing camera and the Lexus Link Connect multimedia system with cloud-based navigation and eight-inch touchscreen. A seven-inch digital diver's instrument display is new to the UX 300e.
The new Premium grade provides rear privacy glass, illuminated door handles, front and rear parking sensors, a driver monitor, smart entry, power back door, LED front fog lights and roof rails.
Premium Plus grade gets you 18-inch alloys, aluminium scuff plates, a wireless smartphone charger, Tahara synthetic leather upholstery, heated front and outer rear seats and front seat ventilation, plus additional safety features.
Premium Plus Tech is another new grade, with extra technology features such as a 12.3-inch display, 13-speaker Mark Levinson Surround Sound audio system and a 12.3-inch driver's digital instrument display.
The top-spec Takumi version includes smooth leather upholstery, a 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor, hands-free power back door, head-up display, sunroof and three-eye LED headlights.

Major car brand discontinues longstanding luxury model after 30 years

A MAJOR car brand is discontinuing a longstanding luxury model after several decades in production. The popular saloon model is set to end production at the end of this month. 3 3 3 The Acura TLX is now being discontinued nearly a decade after it first debuted in the US. Acura will slow down production of the TLX later this month, Car and Driver has reported. A statement from the manufacturer reads: "Acura will conclude production of the TLX performance sedan this month to better align with the evolving needs of our customers and the changing landscape of the automotive industry." It comes after the company sold just 3,634 TLX models in the first half of 2025, has reported. This figure represented a 55 per cent decrease from the previous year. For context the company sold 47,000 TLX models back in 2015 - which was its best year. It is the latest of several popular car models to meet their end in 2025. The ultra-luxury Lexus LS saloon has reached the end of the road after a sustained period of poor sales. It had helped establish Toyota's plush sub-brand as a challenger to the elite carmakers of Europe and America. And after 10 years, Mazda confirmed in February that the Mazda2 supermini can no longer be ordered. A spokesperson told Autocar: "As we move towards increased electrification of our cars, the Mazda 2 Hybrid meets consumer demand in the B-segment and is a step in our journey to ensure all our cars have some form of electrification by 2030." Audi has also revealed it will axe the incredibly popular A1 and Q2 models next year. Gernot Dollner, Audi's CEO, revealed they "will end production of the A1 and Q2" in 2026 and that "there definitely will be no successor for the A1."

Lexus Drops Unbeatable 2025 RZ Lease Offer for July

The 2025 Lexus RZ July 2025 lease offer beats out the numbers for a new Tesla Model Y If you're in the market for an EV that's a little bit off the beaten path, the new Lexus RZ might be the perfect candidate. For July 2025, Lexus is offering an attractive lease deal that even beats out longtime value kingpin Tesla and its Model Y SUV. This month, most shoppers can snag a 2025 Lexus RZ 300e for $399 per month with just $1,999 due at signing. Comparatively, Tesla's letting Model Y SUVs go for $399 per month with $3,000 down. Both offers are good for 36 months and 10,000 miles per year. Why not save $1,000 and get a more luxurious ride with the Lexus RZ? 0:01 / 0:09 The top 10 best value used cars in 2025 Watch More The low payment is due in part to a $10,000 lease incentive the automaker is offering. You can save even more via a $1,000 customer loyalty discount, too. While that initial deal might sound good, you can actually drive your monthly cost even lower if you live in the greater New York City metro area. There, Lexus is advertising a $309 per month lease with $3,999 due at signing. However, the term is shorter at 27 months, and you'll need to make do with 7,500 miles per year. These figures are enticing, but they don't include local taxes, fees, and other dealership adds. You're always best checking on the automaker's website for the best Lexus offers. More on the Lexus RZ Like the Toyota bZ4X it shares much with, the Lexus RZ 300e comes with a single electric motor donating 201 horsepower to the front wheels. All-wheel drive versions are available, but the lease ad specifically calls out the 300e version, so that's what we'll focus on. The good news is that the RZ 300e gets the best range in the lineup. The bad news is that the number still falls short of the magic 300-mile mark, touting a Lexus-estimated 266 miles of range on a full charge. While performance might be lacking, features certainly aren't. The 2025 Lexus RZ 300e comes with a 14-inch touchscreen, heated seats, tons of driver assistance features, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Prefer $0 down on your Lexus RZ lease? Spreading out the low $1,999 due at signing across your lease term (36 months) will drive your monthly payment up by around $56. So, even if you aren't putting any money down, your lease payment could be as low as $454 before taxes, fees, and other charges. Using Tesla's website to price out a lease, $0 down puts you at $492 per month on the Model Y. Still a huge savings! Contact a Lexus dealership to get an actual estimate on a $0 down lease payment. We expect similar changes to make it over to the fancier Lexus version in short order. That would also explain the attractive lease deal, which will help clear existing dealer stock and make room for a newer and better version. Either way, in the here and now, the Lexus RZ 300e looks like an excellent value proposition. A more comfortable ride and nicer cabin than the Tesla Model Y may allow some shoppers to overlook its middling range and power, especially at these prices. *Disclaimer: This article is provided for informational purposes only. Acura TLX Is The Latest Sporty Sedan To Bite The Dust

By signing up I agree to the Terms of Use and acknowledge that I have read the Privacy Policy . You may unsubscribe from email communication at anytime. Lexus will be the last Japanese luxury marque still selling traditional sedans in the U.S. Yet another sedan has been the victim of an SUV- and truck-obsessed world, and this one was rather good. Acura has confirmed that production of the TLX will end this month, with the brand saying the decision was made to 'better align with the evolving needs of our customers and the changing landscape of the automotive industry.' Previous Pause Next Unmute 0:00 / 0:10 Full screen Automakers brace for uncertain future amid Trump's tariff pause Watch More With the departure of the TLX, the sedan's 2025 model year will be its last, and it will leave the recently refreshed Integra as the only Acura model that isn't an SUV of some kind. Low TLX Sales Made Acura's Decision Easier 2024 Acura TLX Type-S 2024 Acura TLX Type-S 2024 Acura TLX Type S interior For the first half of 2025, Acura sold 3,634 TLXs, making it the brand's slowest-selling model overall. That's down from 4,211 units sold over the same period last year. Even the ZDX, Acura's fully electric SUV with a high starting price of over $60,000, has been out-selling the TLX. The TLX took over the role as Acura's flagship sedan after the larger RLX was discontinued after the 2020 model year. Last year, Infiniti discontinued the Q50 to become an SUV-only brand, and if it were not for the sporty Integra, Acura would be in the same position. When the three major Japanese automakers (Toyota, Honda, and Nissan) launched their luxury arms in the late 1980s (Lexus, Acura, and Infiniti), they all found success with comfortable, larger sedans. Around 40 years later, only Lexus has been able to weather the SUV storm, as it still offers multiple sedan models. If you can still get one, it's worth considering, be it the base 272-horsepower model or the potent Type S with its 355-hp V6. The V6 gets the brand's Super-Handling AWD system as standard, creating a proper sports sedan with feelsome steering and excellent composure on twisty roads. The TLX also looks the part from behind the wheel; its unique dashboard design is perhaps a bit fussy, but it has more personality than the screen-obsessed look of so many other new cars. 'Across three generations, Type S variants of the TL and TLX have elevated the Acura performance image and created a lasting impact in the enthusiast market,' said the brand in a statement. The TLX is another fallen sedan in a long list that will be missed. About the Author Karl Furlong View Profile
