But now the A-list couple are considering packing in their life Stateside after falling in love with Blighty.
John explained in an exclusive chat with Bizarre's Howell: 'We love it here. Chrissy loves it and the kids love it.
'We spent our last Christmas here and two or three Christmases ago we were here as well.
'We like to be in a colder place. We don't like to be in Los Angeles for Christmas.

'It's too warm and sunny and we both grew up in a colder weather environment so it doesn't feel like Christmas if it's warm.'
Asked if that meant they would consider relocating here, he added: 'Yes, we would. I mean, especially now.
'We always talk about the possibility of moving to New York or London.
'Those are two cities that we would definitely consider living in. We love walking cities.

'There's something very appealing about both of them and Chrissy and I feel like we thrive in those kinds of environments, so it's something to consider for sure.'
The All Of Me singer is such a fan of the UK that he chose it as the place to kick off his Get Lifted — 20th Anniversary Tour.

The tour celebrates his 2004 debut album, which featured the massive hit Ordinary People.
John said: 'It's fun to reminisce about this time. I tell a few stories in the show.

'My last tour was like a solo show where I literally told stories the whole time. So this is a lot less of that and it's the full band and a lot more music.
'A lot more music'
'When I think about Get Lifted, I associate a lot of that early promo and those early shows with London and with the UK.

'I just remember playing the Jazz Cafe and those early gigs, and Ordinary People especially took off here.
'It's perfect that we start the tour here.' John is now somehow juggling a six-month tour with work on his 11th studio album.
He said: 'The way I'm approaching the next album is, how do I make that one the best one I've ever done?
'How do I collaborate with people who are going to make me better and bring out something special in me?

'That's what I'm going to focus on and the awards will take care of themselves.
'We've written a lot prior to this tour. Most of it's written.'
One thing you can't expect from John and Chrissy is a reality show, as he revealed they have turned down offers.

'Yeah, we've been approached,' he said. You know, she's very entertaining and I'm like her straight man.
'Every comic needs a straight man.
'I feel like we share plenty on social media and we like being in control of what we share.
So anything we would do on the unscripted side, it would have to be with us having control over what we share.

'Shows are built around people arguing with each other. We're just not interested in that version.'
The couple now have four kids. But asked if they would like more, John said hastily: 'No. That was a quick answer. I'm all done.'

Asked whether fans tell him about bedroom encounters with his tunes as the soundtrack, he said: 'Oh, so many awkward conversations.

'We hear about that. We hear about people getting married which is not as awkward.
'But either way, it just lets you know that you make music that is part of people's lives.'

American tries British afternoon tea and issues damning verdict
Afternoon tea is a well-loved British tradition and social occasion featuring tea, sandwiches, scones and cakes – and one American living in the UK had his first experience with it Afternoon tea stands as one of Britain's most cherished customs. Originating in the 18th century, it continues to flourish today as a beloved ritual consisting of tea, delicate finger sandwiches, scones accompanied by clotted cream and jam, and an assortment of cakes and pastries. Beyond the culinary delights, it serves as a social occasion typically savoured in relaxed but elegant surroundings, such as hotels or dedicated tea rooms. This quintessentially British experience interests tourists and newcomers to the UK, including TikTok creator KJordy, who relocated from America to London and shared his first time experiencing this age-old honoured tradition. In his TikTok video he confessed he couldn't imagine anything more "posh", "dainty" or "exquisite" than afternoon tea, prompting him to sample it firsthand. As he arrived at the venue, KJordy was initially presented with an elegant black case containing various tea varieties. Sitting at his table with the afternoon tea stand before him, his immediate reaction was that it "looks hella bougie." KJordy gestured towards the top tier which contained the 'sandwiches', but was actually a selection of breads including brioche. The middle tier featured the desserts, while the bottom was home to the scones he was so "excited" for. The American began by pouring himself a cup of red tea, before adding a splash of milk. After tasting the brew, he grimaced slightly but concluded it was "not bad". KJordy then sampled a portion of egg truffle brioche, which he appeared to relish more than the tea. However, he still described it as "not bad". Moving on to the scones, he sliced one in half and slathered some clotted cream followed by jam onto the lower half before placing the top portion back on. After tucking into the scone he declared: "A scone is the same as our biscuits. I'm here for scones." The expat then turned his attention to the desserts, which he described as "interesting". His favourite was the roly poly, which he described as "the best dessert so far". Delivering his final judgement on this British custom he summarised: "The afternoon tea I think it's just for socialising like [the] presentation is what looks the best. Taste wise, I could give or take. Overall, afternoon tea for me it's a six out of ten." People weren't happy that KJordy was "disappointed" by the afternoon tea – as many pointed out he was eating and drinking it all wrong. One remarked: "That tea looked like a rooibos, fruit or herbal tea which should never have milk." Another user chimed in: "Milk with the fruit tea? Nope... just nope!" A third advised: "If you've never experienced afternoon tea, you should definitely go with someone who's experienced. Milk in fruit tea – yikes." On the subject of scone etiquette, one person said: "Sir did you just eat that scone like a sandwich? No, no, no, we eat each half separately, it makes it feel like two scones." Another echoed: "Scone was eaten incorrectly! Eat half at a time."

At college we met Connor (played by understudy Will Forgrave). He is a bully, a drug user and doesn't get along with his sister Zoe or his parents played by Richard Hurst and Helen Anker. Lauren Conroy from Fife as Zoe It is a very modern script, ahead of its time with texts, social media and crowd funding while tackling issues of metal health, youth relationships and drug misuse, a challenge managed effectively by director Adam Penford. We see how a lie could expand like a snowball down a hill and all with great songs like (what has become a strapline and a hashtag) You Will Be Found sung by Evan, Zoe, Alana (Vivian Panka) and Jared (Tom Dickerson), Evan's pal who fakes some emails for cash. LaurenConroy from Glenrothes, a former KAOS (Kirkcaldy Amateur Operatic Society) member as sister Zoe gets her big number Requiem and rightfully gets wild applause. There are melodies here that hint on the writers' future triumphs like The Greatest Showman or LA LA Land and all beautifully orchestrated by Michael Bradley and his 9-piece orchestra. I am avoiding going over the full plot as it twists cleverly so much you need to see it and explains the reason for the growing cult following and reasons for the queues for the array of merchandise.
