The truth about Bojan Miovski to Celtic transfer interest and why it's more likely than him joining Rangers

Daily Record24-06-2025
Miovski has been linked with a move back to Scotland and Celtic looks more likely than Rangers at this stage
Bojan Miovski wants to stay and fight for his place at Girona – but if he is to return to Scotland this summer, Celtic are a more likely destination than Rangers.
And one of the reasons for that might just be his history with Russell Martin, who turned down the chance to sign him for Southampton.

That's the verdict from our man Scott Burns who got his teeth into the swirling rumours surrounding the former Aberdeen hitman in today's big transfer Q&A.

Miovski struggled to adapt in his debut year in Spain, scoring four goals all season and struggling to replicate the explosive form he showed at Pittodrie.
But a man who scored 30 times in 68 Scottish Premiership games is always going to have suitors and rumours have been swirling that a return to Scotland, with either Celtic or Rangers, could be on.
As we understand it, it's Celtic who have shown firmer interest in Miovski in the past and they have cash to splash in their hunt for a new striker.
And our man Burns believes a move to the Hoops is more likely than their city rivals.
Asked if there was any truth in the Old Firm interest in Miovski, he said: "There was always more interest shown in Miovski from the Celtic side rather than Rangers. I would think Rangers would be less likely now.

"Russell Martin turned down the chance to sign him for Southampton. I know that Miovski wants to stay and fight for his place at Girona. I would be surprised if he came back to Scotland."
Celtic are set to sign Fulham striker Callum Osmand, but he's unlikely to be the only striking addition to Brendan Rodgers' squad this summer.
Burns went on: "They are definitely looking at striking options and Brendan Rodgers would be keen to add on that front. If I was a betting man I would expect Celtic to have another striker before the close of the window. Callum Osmand is coming in and will be the understudy.
"The funds are there and they would be willing to do a deal. Could a move for David Stelec come back into play?"
Meanwhile David Turnbull has been loosely linked with a move back to Scotland with Aberdeen, but the finances involved make that one unlikely for now.
Asked by Dons fan Calum Sheal for an update on that one, Burns said: "I think this one is unlikely. David Turnbull is on good money at Cardiff City. He is a player the chief executive, Alan Burrows, knows well and would love to do.
"I just think finances would be the killer on that front, if the player was to consider coming back to Aberdeen. The Dons are definitely looking to add to their midfield options."
