Kajol Recalls Feeling "Helpless" Over Ajay Devgn's Clash With YRF: "It Is Neither Good..."

NDTV2 days ago
New Delhi:
Kajol recently spoke about how she was affected during the clash between Ajay Devgn's production house and Yash Raj Films over the release of Son of Sardaar in 2012.
What's Happening
In an interview with The Lallantop, Kajol recalled feeling caught between the two sides, as she was close to both Ajay Devgn and Aditya Chopra.
When asked about how she dealt with the controversy, Kajol said, "Fights are always difficult, especially when they remain unresolved for some time. At that point, when you have a situation like that in front of you, both parties were standing for themselves."
She further added, "As somebody who was connected to both sides, I felt helpless. You have to wait for time to pass, so that the feelings subside. So that things can become ok again."
She also said, "Change is change, it is neither good nor bad. It is written somewhere that change is eternal. It is the only thing which is constant."
Background
The controversy began when Ajay Devgn's production house, then known as Ajay Devgn FFilms (ADF), filed a complaint with the Competition Commission of India (CCI). The complaint alleged that Yash Raj Films had used its dominant market position to secure maximum screens for Jab Tak Hai Jaan, limiting the availability of screens for Son of Sardaar.
Kajol was recently seen in Maa, directed by Vishal Furia. The mythological horror film was co-produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande and released on June 27.
She will next be seen in the action-thriller Sarzameen, which also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan. The JioHotstar film is set to stream from July 25.

'Maa' box office collection Day 11: Kajol starrer sees collections drop under Rs 1 crore as it hits Rs 32.17 crore total

Kajol's latest film, 'Maa', continued its theatrical run with a modest performance on its second Monday. According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the film earned approximately Rs 0.57 crore on Day 11, taking its total collection to around Rs 32.17 crore. About the Film The film's plot is a mythological horror drama that marks a dramatic shift in Kajol's filmography. She plays Ambika, a mother who undergoes a terrifying spiritual transformation into a form inspired by Goddess Kali to save her daughter from a supernatural threat. Boxoffice journey so far The film opened strong with Rs 4.65 crore on Day 1 and maintained a healthy trend over its first weekend, collecting nearly Rs 17.65 crore in three days. Occupancy in cinemas On Monday, July 7, 2025, 'Maa' had an overall 11.66% occupancy in Hindi theatres. This means fewer people came to watch the film compared to the weekend, which is normal for weekdays. The movie still did better in big cities like Mumbai and Delhi. Maa - Movie review ETimes rated the film with 3 stars and our official review reads, "Kajol delivers a compelling performance as a mother pushed to the edge, balancing vulnerability with fierce resolve. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo Kherin Sharma and Rupkatha Chakraborty are both impressive as young girls caught in the storm of ancient evil.
