', Kamalapur is small village of 3,500 people located near the Army Air Defence College."As
a mother, I worry about my son when he is away at his place of posting, especially when there is a conflict situation," says A Bhanumati, whose son Sanjay Kumar is posted in Srinagar. Bhanumati, 60, lost her husband Havildar A Govind Rao during Operation Rakshak in Jammu and Kashmir."I feel proud that my husband laid down his life defending the country.
I feel proud that my son serves to defend the country," she said.Sabitriamma, 59, mother of two army personnel, shares similar sentiments. "Both my sons are posted in vulnerable areas — one in Amritsar and another in Udhampur. The decision to strike against the terror camps in Pakistan was good," she says, her voice filled with emotion. Her husband B Somaya, 65, is an ex-serviceman.The village entrance features a statue of M.Krishna Rao, a local, who was martyred in the Kargil War, serving as a constant reminder of the village's sacrifices for the nation. "We are very proud of youths of our village who are in the military and working to protect the country," said N.Lalita Kumari, sarpanch of Kamalapur. She said mothers in the village encourage their sons to join the Army though many have lost their husbands during the previous wars.Secretary, Odisha State Ex-Services League, Kamalapur branch, Balaram Swamy said the village has records of around 420 ex-servicemen. DGP reviews south Kashmir security
Srinagar, July 11 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP), Nalin Prabhat, today conducted a focused security review in south Kashmir region. Prabhat reiterated the critical importance of continuous rehearsals of contingency drills to deal dynamically with evolving threats. The DGP also emphasized the need for relentless counter-terror operations in the hinterland. A police statement said the DGP, conducted a a focussed security review, with Deputy Inspector General, south Kashmir Range, Javed Mattoo; SSPs of South Kashmir and senior officers of Indian Army, CRPF and BSF. The DGP recognised and commended the unflagging commitment of all security forces in securing the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra. He reiterated the need for continuous rehearsal of contingency drills and the imperative requirement for assessing and plugging grey areas, besides refining drills to deal dynamically with evolving threats. He also stressed on relentless operations in the hinterland. This year's annual Amarnath Yatra started on July 3 from the twin tracks- the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district. In spirit of brotherhood, a tribute to ‘Op Sindoor'
A symbol of interfaith harmony and national pride is taking shape in Meerut's Sadar Bazaar. A group of Hindu and Muslim youngsters have come together to build a grand 'kanwar' that has been named 'Operation Sindoor' to celebrate the country's military prowess and the spirit of communal unity. (HT) The initiative is being led by Gaurav, who, with 20 of his companions, is crafting the kanwar as an expression of both devotion and patriotism. It will be taken to Haridwar on July 15. The group will collect holy Ganga water on July 16 and return to Meerut. What makes this kanwar remarkable is not just its scale — 10 feet tall and 12 feet wide — but also its design, which features a statue of Bharat Mata (Mother India), a model of a Rafale fighter jet, an Army tank, and temples, showcasing India's military might and spiritual heritage. 'This is not just a kanwar, but also a glimpse of our nation's strength,' said Neeraj Dhameja, an artisan working on the project. The sentiment was echoed by Imam Shahnawaz Jamali of the local mosque, who has been actively supporting the initiative. 'We stand with our nation. The path of religion passes through humanity. Our unity against terrorism is the real strength of this country,' he said. Gaurav said the kanwar was also dedicated to the 26 innocent people killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, as well as to India's armed forces and martyrs. The brutal attack had sparked nationwide anger, and the Indian Army responded decisively, delivering a strong blow to terrorists and those supporting them across the border. 'Operation Sindoor is a symbolic tribute to those who lost their lives and to the bravery of our armed forces who defended the nation with unmatched courage,' Gaurav said. This special kanwar will be brought from Haridwar, and the Jalabhishek (ritual water offering) will be performed at the famous Augharnath Temple in Meerut.

"Non-Hindus must be removed from TTD jobs immediately: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay
Tirumala (Andhra Pradesh) [India], July 12 (ANI): Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar raised strong objections to the employment of non-Hindus in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) during his visit to Tirumala on his birthday on Friday. Addressing the media after offering prayers at the Lord Venkateswara temple, he questioned, 'How can non-Hindus be given jobs in TTD?' Why are they still being retained even after changes in governments and administrations? What action is being taken when over a thousand non-Hindus are employed in TTD? They must be removed from their positions immediately.' 'TTD should allocate funds to support temples, especially those that are unable to afford even the basic rituals like dhupa-deepa-naivedyam, ' he said, stating that it was unacceptable that non-Hindus are currently working in TTD despite lacking belief in Hinduism or the deity. 'Would mosques or churches ever employ a Hindu wearing a bottu (sacred mark on the forehead)? No, they wouldn't. So why are non-Hindus being given jobs in TTD? Continuing this practice, even after changes in government, is not right. I strongly demand their immediate removal,' he said, demanding their immediate removal. Sanjay asserted, 'Tirumala belongs to Hindus. If non-Hindus or foreigners want to visit the deity, a faith declaration is mandatory. Unfortunately, over a thousand non-Hindus are working in TTD, many of whom do not believe in Hinduism or the deity. Why are such people being employed and retained?' 'This is unacceptable. Their presence is affecting the religious traditions and rituals of the temple. Why are we paying salaries to people who don't even believe in the deity? Hindus across the country are opposing this. It's not enough to say they were appointed a long time ago, this practice must stop immediately.', Sanjay added. On the occasion of his birthday, the minister said, 'I prayed to the Lord that every citizen should live happily and peacefully. We must all unite for the protection of Sanatana Dharma, support each other, and work together for a strong and prosperous India. I prayed for Prime Minister Modi to be blessed with good health and a long life, as he continues to work tirelessly for national development and public welfare.' Sanjay asserted that vote bank politics should not dictate the functioning of sacred institutions, adding, 'Retaining those who act against Sanatana Dharma is wrong. Vote bank politics should not dictate the functioning of a sacred institution like TTD. This is the property of Hindus.' Highlighting the plight of neglected temples, especially in the Telugu-speaking states, he urged TTD to take urgent steps. 'Many ancient temples and small shrines are struggling even for daily rituals. TTD should identify such temples and allocate funds for their restoration and development on a war footing.' He further demanded the immediate construction of the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Karimnagar, for which the foundation has already been laid. He also called for special funds to be earmarked for the Illandakunta Rama Temple and the Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple. (ANI)
