Village of Howard police to patrol reckless e-bike riders after complaints

According to a release from the Village of Howard, despite the repeated requests for e-bike users to ride more responsibly, complaints continue to be ongoing, leading to additional actions needing to be taken.
Village officials say the Howard Police Department, rather than using their time patrolling the streets and addressing the important matters throughout the community, will now conduct special enforcement patrols of children using e-bikes.
Residents have made it clear that reckless operation of e-bikes and electric scooters has gotten out of control throughout the community.

It's important to note that the Howard Municipal Code reportedly requires anyone using an e-bike to have a valid driver's license, operator's license, or instructional permit.
Anyone under 16 years old using an e-bike will have any potential citations issued to their parents or legal guardians.

Suspect arrested after allegedly stealing, attempting to sell landscaping equipment in Wisconsin
MONONA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 26-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested Monday after allegedly stealing landscaping equipment from a vehicle and trying to sell the items online. According to the Monona Police Department, officers responded to a theft complaint around 11:10 a.m. regarding stolen landscaping equipment from a vehicle. Working with the victim, police were able to gather a detailed description of the missing items. Lake in Wisconsin temporarily closed due to extremely high levels of E. coli During the investigation, authorities discovered similar items listed for sale on a social media site. The descriptions and images closely matched those of the stolen equipment. Monona officers coordinated a response, using covert tactics to arrange a meeting with the suspect at an address in Madison. A plain-clothed detective made initial contact with the suspect outside the residence and confirmed the presence of the stolen items. As uniformed officers approached, the suspect began walking away before fleeing into a mobile home. He then attempted to escape by jumping out of a rear window but was quickly apprehended. The stolen equipment was recovered and returned to the victim, a small business owner who expressed deep gratitude to the officers involved. UPDATE: Oshkosh man charged with intentional homicide, motion to dismiss denied Brandon D. Singleton, 26, was booked into the Dane County Jail on a probation violation. Fisherman finds pickup truck submerged in a Wisconsin river
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WFRV) – Crews worked Monday evening to remove a pickup truck from a river in western Wisconsin after a fisherman reported the submerged vehicle, officials say. According to a release from the Eau Claire Fire Rescue, a fisherman notified officials at 5:32 p.m. that they believed they had found a pickup truck submerged in a section of the Chippewa River. Two men hurt in Sheboygan crash, one driver arrested for OWI Crews responded to an area of water near the Riverview Boat Landing in Eau Claire and used sonar equipment to confirm that there was a vehicle submerged in the river. The Eau Claire Fire Rescue's Dive Team was called in and found the pickup truck just in front of the landing. The truck was said to be unoccupied at the time. Divers were able to assist A to Z Towing in salvage and recovery operations. No other information is available as officials are working to identify the owner of the pickup truck.
