Strong storms with heavy rainfall, gusty winds threaten Miami-Dade, Broward
The first round of rain arrives in the morning with scattered showers and storms, but they will not be severe. A second round arrives around noon and will last through the afternoon. A few of the storms may produce strong to marginally severe wind gusts, lightning and hail, according to NEXT Weather meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez.
On Friday, the most active period for storm activity will be in the afternoon, with a few producing strong to marginally severe wind gusts.
The storm activity stems from an upper level low centered across the Florida peninsula which allows a much more unsettled pattern, according to NEXT Weather Chief Meteorologist Ivan Cabrera. While the low will remain well north of South Florida, a moist southeast flow will continue to pull in deep moisture.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of South Florida under a "marginal" (Level 1) risk for strong storms. The concern is that the storms may also contain damaging wind, and the slow-moving rainfall increases the chance for isolated street flooding.

South Florida will remain unsettled Friday through the weekend, and even into early next week, due to another upper-level low will approach the state late in the weekend into early next week which will provide additional support for showers and storms. All of this will result in above normal rain chances each day.
Afternoon highs will remain in the upper 80s with feels-like temperatures in the triple digits.

Scattered showers, thunderstorms expected Monday in Philadelphia region. Here's the weather forecast.
Clouds will increase overnight, and there's a chance for some patchy light fog or mist to develop across the Philadelphia area. A stalled front lifts north as a warm front Monday, placing the region into a warmer, more unstable air mass. Mostly sunny skies will allow temperatures to rise into the upper 80s to near 90, with heat indices approaching 94–95 degrees. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected during the afternoon, driven by increased instability and a strengthening mid-level flow. While severe weather potential is limited by marginal shear, a few stronger storms with damaging wind gusts or localized flash flooding are possible. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a marginal risk (1/5) for severe storms. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue Monday night as the warm front pushes north. Lows will range from the upper 60s to mid-70s. CBS News Philadelphia Tuesday brings a more active setup. The region will be fully in the warm sector with highs in the low 80s to low 90s and dew points in the 70s — supporting strong instability. A strengthening upper-level trough will push a cold front through the area later in the day. If morning clouds and convection clear in time, conditions will support strong to severe storms. Severe storms, heavy rainfall possible in Southeast Michigan on Monday
Showers and thunderstorms are likely Monday afternoon and evening in portions of Southeast Michigan. Isolated severe storms are possible, as well as isolated instances of flooding due to heavy rain. The CBS News Detroit weather team has declared Monday a NEXT Weather Alert Day. NEXT Weather/CBS Detroit Washtenaw, Wayne, Monroe and Lenawee counties are under a marginal (1/5) risk for severe weather. Conditions look to favor a relatively brief lifespan of individual storm cells, but plenty of opportunity for additional cells to trigger from storm outflow. Stronger cells will be capable of torrential downpours with a localized damaging wind threat. NEXT Weather/CBS Detroit Nearly all of Southeast Michigan is at risk of excessive rainfall. Rainfall rates in excess of one inch per hour will be possible, which may produce localized instances of flooding, especially if storms stall over a particular location.
