Tesla Completes First Self-Driving Delivery To Customer's Home, Elon Musk Reacts
Last Updated:
The Tesla Y Model drove itself from the company's Texas factory to the customer's home within 30 minutes by navigating highways, intersections, traffic signals
Electric Vehicle (EV) giant Tesla has accomplished its first fully autonomous and driverless car delivery, with a Model Y driving itself to the customer's home.
The Tesla Y Model drove itself from the company's Texas factory to the customer's home within 30 minutes by navigating highways, intersections, traffic signals, and city streets entirely on its own.
The trip, which took place a day ahead of schedule, was announced by Tesla CEO Elon Musk in a post on X.
'The first fully autonomous delivery of a Tesla Model Y from factory to a customer home across town, including highways, was just completed a day ahead of schedule. There were no people in the car at all and no remote operators in control at any point. FULLY autonomous," Musk said.

The mega accomplishment was shared online, with Tesla first releasing a three-minute time lapse teaser, followed by a full 30-minute video on June 28.
Captured from the back seat, the video, shared by Tesla, showcased Model Y operating entirely on its own, departing from the Gigafactory's parking area. It autonomously and adeptly navigated roads, executed turns, observed stop signs, yielded at red lights, and managed real-time traffic situations without any human input.
The Model Y parked itself under the owner's building at the end of the journey.
Musk reposted the video on X, with a one-word caption: 'Kapow."

Tesla's head of AI and Autopilot, Ashok Elluswamy, said the vehicle reached a top speed of 72 miles per hour during the 30-minute journey, Bloomberg reported.
Tesla also debuted its robotaxi service in Austin this week. A small group of influencers and investors got rides in self-driving Model Y cars. Musk had hinted at both the robotaxi launch and the self-driving delivery earlier this month on X. He says Tesla plans to have millions of robotaxis on the road in the future.
Tesla first showed off this kind of hands-free driving in April, when it posted a video of cars moving from its Texas factory floor to parking lots on their own.

Donald Trump calls Elon Musk ‘wonderful', but says row over Big Beautiful tax bill was not ‘appropriate'
Expressing his like for billionaire Elon Musk, Donald Trump in an interview with Fox News, called his a 'wonderful guy', but noted that their very public disagreement on the United States president's marquee 'One Big Beautiful Bill', was not 'appropriate'. This came just before the Tesla chief renewed his criticism of Donald Trump's nearly dollar tax and spending b$3 trillion dollar tax and spending bill, and warned that cutting sops for electric vehicles would have significant negative impact on the EVs and clean energy sectors. Elon Musk's outrage came just before the US Senate on June 28 took up the Bill overnight, and passed it through the first hurdle by a narrow margin of 51-49 votes for debate and consideration. The bill is expected to be complete by June 30 (local US time). When asked about the public spat with Elon Musk, Donald Trump told Fox News that the world's richest man 'got a little bit upset'. 'I haven't spoken to him much, but I think Elon is a wonderful guy, and I know he's going to do well always. But he got a little bit upset, and you know that wasn't appropriate,' Donald Trump said in the interview which aired on June 29. The Senate tax bill seeks to put an end to a popular $7,500 consumer tax credit for EVs, much quicker than the earlier proposal, as per a Bloomberg report. The previous version sought to end the incentive at the end of this year for most EV sales, the new version terminates the credit after September 30, it added. The report noted that tax credits for the purchase of used and commercial EVs would end at the same time. Elon Musk posted on his social media platform X about the bill, which the Senate advanced in a contentious vote late Saturday. He has been at loggerheads with the Trump administration since leaving his posts as chief of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The bill would destroy millions of US jobs and give 'handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future,' Musk said. The tech billionaire's latest criticism of the package threatens to reawaken his public rift with Donald Trump that began after the world's richest man left his cost-cutting job in the administration. iOS 26 features Apple didn't announce but you may get later this year
Even after a packed WWDC 2025 unveiling, Apple hasn't finished rolling out iOS 26 features just yet. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter, two previously rumoured capabilities, both of which missed the keynote, are still on track for release later this year. iOS 26 brings a major visual overhaul, deeper AI integration via Apple Intelligence, and significant improvements.(Apple) One of the more ambitious features that didn't make it to the WWDC stage is live translation directly through AirPods. This feature would allow users to carry on real-time conversations with someone speaking a different language, with the translation being delivered straight into their ears via AirPods. The feature was expected to be an extension of the Live Translation system Apple demoed in Messages, FaceTime, and the Phone app, and could greatly benefit travellers and multilingual households. While Apple didn't provide an update during WWDC, Gurman suggests this is still in development and likely to launch later this year. Mobile Finder: iPhone 17 Air expected to debut later this year Captive Wi-Fi Sync Across Devices Another useful feature left out of iOS 26's initial rollout is automatic syncing of captive Wi-Fi logins across your Apple devices. Captive Wi-Fi networks are the kind typically found in hotels, airports, and cafes, the kind that require you to log in through a pop-up web page. With this feature, once you've authenticated on one Apple device, the login credentials would sync across your other Apple products using iCloud, saving you from having to repeat the process. Why They Weren't Announced Gurman explains that Apple has adopted a more cautious approach this year, choosing not to announce features unless they're 'near shipping.' This change follows WWDC 2024, when several high-profile features were revealed months in advance but ended up delayed, or still missing. With iOS 26, Apple is trying to avoid that same misstep. When Will They Arrive? If all goes according to plan, these delayed features should arrive with the iOS 26.1 update in October or iOS 26.2 in December. They may even be tested during the iOS 26 beta cycle leading up to those releases. Apple hasn't confirmed these details publicly, but if you're waiting for more from iOS 26, especially if you use AirPods or rely on public Wi-Fi, you'll want to keep an eye on updates later this year.

Global lenders may push back on RBI's offshore swap reporting plan
Complying with the Reserve Bank of India's directive could raise concerns about client confidentiality and lead to jurisdictional complications with other monetary authorities Bloomberg Global lenders plan to ask India's central bank to soften a plan requiring them to report offshore interest-rate derivative trades, according to people familiar with the matter. The RBI in a draft circular issued on June 16 directed banks to begin reporting global transactions within a year of the final directions, to improve market transparency. The talks come amid a surge in offshore trading of Indian interest-rate swaps. Bankers have held discussions through global financial market industry associations, which are expected to submit formal feedback to the RBI by the July 7 deadline, the people said. A draft letter from the banks to the RBI is currently being circulated among them for approval, they said. Daily average volumes in foreign currency-settled swaps reported to the London Clearing House more than doubled over five years, reaching ₹1.2 trillion ($14 billion) in the fiscal year ended March 2024, according to the central bank.
