Warm temperatures and some storms for Fourth of July weekend in Michigan
Traveling up north? Their weekend won't be a washout by any means, but there will be some rain.
While temperatures won't be as hot for many of Michigan's northern towns, some will be warming near 90 degrees this weekend.

In Houghton, temperatures are warming into the low 80s on Saturday with a few thunderstorms. On Sunday, storms move out and temperatures cool into the low 70s.
Areas like Whitefish Point will warm into the low 70s on Saturday with on-and-off showers through the weekend. By Sunday, highs will only reach the upper 50s.
If you're traveling to Mackinac Island, temperatures will warm into the low 80s on Saturday with a mix of sun and clouds. Cooling into the low 70s for highs on Sunday with showers.
Traverse City and Houghton Lake will be hot on Saturday, with highs in the low to mid-90s. Showers roll in by Sunday with highs in the mid and upper 70s.

About 20 people at Texas summer camp missing as devastating floods slam hill country, officials say
Fatalities were reported Friday as devastating floods slammed Texas' hill country with water rescues taking place along the Guadalupe River, officials said. "Within 45 minutes, the Guadalupe River rose 26 feet and it was a destructive flood -- taking property and sadly lives, " Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said at a news conference in the afternoon. He addressed parents of children at Camp Mystic, where there were 700 children at summer camp when the floods hit. The lieutenant governor, who is acting as governor while Gov. Greg Abbott is on vacation, said around 20 children were unaccounted for on Friday. He said they are praying for all those missing "to be found alive," Patrick said. He told parents watching the news conference that if they have not been contacted, their child is accounted for at this time. He said this area has several camps with thousands of children attending for the summer. Patrick said about six to 10 bodies have been found but the situation is fluid and ongoing. "Search and recovery efforts are ongoing and will increase as the waters recede," the city of Kerrville, Texas, said in a social media post. Water rescues continue along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County with a number of local and regional emergency service organizations taking part. The river rose seven feet from midnight Thursday through the early morning, Kerrville city said. The Guadalupe River at Hunt reached its second-highest height on record, higher than the famous 1987 flood, the city said, citing the National Weather Service. Plainfield, New Jersey storms blamed for at least 3 deaths, officials say
Three people were killed when severe thunderstorms swept through New Jersey on Thursday night, officials say. A spokesperson for the city of Plainfield said two men were killed when a tree fell onto a vehicle they were in. The victims have been identified as 79-year-old Rocco Sansone and 29-year-old Brian Ernesto Valladares. "Our hearts are heavy today. This tragedy is a sobering reminder of the power of nature and the fragility of life," Plainfield Mayor Adrian O. Mapp said in a statement. "We mourn with the families and stand ready to support them in every way possible." Sansone's sister said she got the tragic news in the middle of the night. "He was down to earth, he was a good guy. I just miss him," she said. Police in the borough of North Plainfield said a 44-year-old woman from Middlesex was also killed when a tree fell on top of her vehicle. It happened around 6:30 p.m. Thursday as the woman was pulled over on Greenbrook Road. Her name has not been released. But now is not the time," said Mapp. "We have to rise to the moment and make sure that we deal with the emergency at hand." Several trees came down along Putnam and Hillside avenues, including one that partially hit a home. It wrecked Donna Lynn's second floor office, but she said she's grateful for the long holiday weekend. "I work from home on Thursdays. I would have been up there working. "When I got home, I didn't think it was going to be this bad," one resident said Friday morning. "Plainfield's strong, we're going to recover, we're going to help each other recover from this." "We were out here last night cutting down the tree and getting tree limbs out of the road so that, hopefully, first responders could come fast. They see the road is clear, maybe they'll come and do the repairs soon," another resident added. New Jersey facing thousands of power outages Earlier Thursday, Edison and Metuchen saw similar scenes in Middlesex County. Huge trees snapped and littered the streets with their branches. Crews are still working to restore power to people who are stuck in the dark and without air conditioning. PSE&G said it hopes to have customers back online by 10 p.m. Friday. Meanwhile, Gov. Phil Murphy says he's in close touch with local mayors and emergency responders to provide support.
