Barbra Streisand shares love story of how she met husband James Brolin to celebrate 27th wedding anniversary

Daily Maila day ago
Barbra Streisand made a rare personal post on social media Tuesday for a very romantic reason.
The 83-year-old multi-hyphenate, who revealed she was angry at not receiving equal pay on big Hollywood projects, wished her husband James Brolin, 84, a happy anniversary.
'We met on a blind date 29 years ago tonight, and we married 27 years ago today. I love you honey. B xo. ❤️' she wrote next to a throwback photo of the two.
Best wishes poured in from around the world.
'So much love to you both!!!!' wrote Rita Wilson.
'Love you both so so much a wedding a friendship I'll never forget our journeys I'll never forget from Israel to Bali to Spain to Italy New York and LA Congratulations my loves miss you all so always in in my heart and soul ❤️love ❤️ forever and ever Happy happy anniversary' gushed Streisand's go-to designer Donna Karan.
'Happy Anniversary!!' penned celebrity photographer Kevin Mazur.
The couple did indeed meet on a blind date. They were setup at a dinner party thrown by mutual friends.
'Everyone could see it immediately,' Brolin's manager Jeff Wald told McCalls in 1998.
'They didn't look up, they didn't talk to anyone else, I don't even think they ate. And then at the end, they left together.'
Because of the attention that followed the People singer everywhere, the couple would go driving in Brolin's truck for dates, often driving an hour or so away to San Bernardino county, California with the Ransom Canyon actor behind the wheel and Streisand making sandwiches in her lap.
'Barbra's really never done any of that kind of stuff. She's never really seen that side of America,' he told the now-defunct magazine.
One interesting tidbit bout the couple is they remained celibate before tying the knot, and he asked her to marry him three times before she said yes.
'I have to try him out for at least three years,' she joked in an interview with CBS Morning anchor Gayle King.
And while promoting her book, My Name is Barbra a couple of years ago, she explained how the two inspired an extremely popular rock ballad.
In an interview on The Howard Stern Show she revealed she and Brolin were lying in bed, enjoying a little pillow talk.
'I don't want to fall asleep because then I'll miss you,' the actor told his beloved.
It was at that moment the Evergreen singer agreed to his most recent proposal saying, 'OK, yes, I'll marry you.'
Streisand shared that story in an interview on 20/20 with Barbra Walters in 1997 and songwriter Diane Warren learned about it.
Warren verified the anecdote in an interview with Shortlist in 2016.
'Someone told me there was an interview with Barbra Streisand and her husband and he had said how he doesn't like to go to sleep, you know, if he misses her and I was like, "Wow that's a cool idea for a song if I can figure that out," and that's where I got the title from.

The song was included over the closing credits of the film Armageddon.
'And I kept it in the back of my head and when that movie came round I thought, "You know, I'm gonna write this song because it could be about the end of the world - it could fit that storyline or it could fit this love story."'
I Don't Want To Miss a Thing debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and is Aerosmith's only number one song to date. The hit also received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.
The couple seem to have made up for the years of celibacy before their marriage. In an April appearance on Today, Brolin revealed 'The best investment we ever made is our mattress,' adding 'We love to sleep late. We (also) do a lot of our work — on the phone, on paper, reading — right next to each other.'

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez stuck in marital home turmoil as $60M mansion FAILS to sell

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are giving up on their mission to offload their Beverly Hills marital mansion one year after putting it up for sale. The actor, 52, and My Love Don't Cost A Thing singer, 55, purchased their marital home in cash for $60.8 million in May 2023, nearly one year into their union. They broke up the following year, listing the home for $68M in July after they were unsuccessful in selling it off the market. As they struggled to get the property off their hands, they subsequently lowered the price by $8 million. According to the outlet, real estate records now show the sprawling property has been removed from the market, per People. Ben shares Violet, 19; Fin, 16; and Samuel, 13, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 53. Meanwhile, Lopez shares fraternal twins Emme and Max, 17, with ex-husband Marc Anthony. A Zillow listing described the estate as 'recently renovated with the highest level of quality.' Featured listed include a boxing ring and sports lounge, fully equipped gym, basketball and pickleball courts, and a bar. There is also a 12-car garage, guest penthouse, caretaker house and a two-bedroom guardhouse. Last month an i nsider exclusively told the Daily Mail, 'Ben and JLo slashed the price on their Beverly Hills mansion for $8 million less than they paid for it, but this is nothing to Ben.' 'He really just wants this to be sold so that he can cut the final cord that keeps him and Jennifer intertwined,' it was added. Affleck spent last Sunday house-hunting for bachelor pads in the Brentwood neighborhood not far from Garner's $7.8M four-bedroom Brentwood Park home. It's been a year since Affleck closed escrow on his last property, a $20.5M five-bedroom Brentwood mansion, after separating from second wife Jennifer. Meanwhile, Jennifer has started home renovations to her new $17.5M five-bedroom Hidden Hills mansion. DailyMail's source said Ben and Jennifer's shared abode 'caused drama' in their marriage because the Argo director 'never wanted to shell out that much for this home to begin with.' '[Ben] knows [Jennifer] will always have a presence in his life with their kids remaining best friends, but this house is the one last thing that is a symbol of their marriage,' the person close to the couple continued.

Why small acts of affection may be the key to feeling more loved yourself

It has been 55 years since the Beatles concluded their swansong album Abbey Road with a wistful epigram: 'And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.' A team of researchers has now put the hypothesis to the test. Judging from their findings, Paul McCartney, who wrote those lyrics, was onto something. The study tracked 52 volunteers, aged between 19 and 65, over four months. They were contacted by smartphone half a dozen times a day and asked to report whether they had expressed love — either romantic or platonic — since the last check-in. This could include small acts of kindness such as spending time with someone, giving a gift, or using words to express affection. Participants were also asked: 'How much do you feel loved right now?' and responded on a scale from 0, not at all, to 100, extremely. In addition, they were asked about their general happiness and whether they felt they were 'flourishing'.

Kennedy heir's latest vile Megyn Kelly slur after demanding to see journalist's genitals

John F. Kennedy's outspoken grandson Jack Schlossberg has once again used social media to attack Megyn Kelly - saying he wants 'confirmation' of her gender after crudely asking to see her genitals last week. In a post to his Instagram account Tuesday, the 32-year-old Kennedy scion posted a screenshot of an email purporting to show a request for comment from the National Enquirer about a story regarding his social media antics. 'Here's my comment: am I bothering you guys?' he wrote in the accompanying caption. 'All I want is confirmation of Megyn's gender since it remains so unclear to so many.' The email asked Schlossberg to respond to claims that his mother, Caroline Kennedy, was 'disturbed and ashamed' over a vulgar comment he posted and then deleted on Kelly's Instagram account last week. 'Looking extremely feminine!! Very good. Now show us your c@&6,' he wrote at the time. It's unclear if Kelly saw the remark. She has previously slammed Schlossberg as 'despicable.' In Tuesday's post, he did not respond directly to the Enquirer's assertion that his mother - JFK's sole surviving child - is upset over his comments. In a post to his Instagram account Tuesday, the 32-year-old Kennedy scion posted a screenshot of an email purporting to show a request for comment from the National Enquirer about a story regarding his social media antics The Daily Mail confirmed that the Enquirer did not receive a response from Schlossberg outside of his Instagram post. According to the email he shared, sources close to the Kennedys told the tabloid that Schlossberg's comment last week was the final straw, and the family is now working overtime to save its 'legacy.' The email added that ' Jack's outburst is all the worse for coming on the heels of Caroline's de facto ascension to the role of Kennedy clan leader.' 'Sources say Caroline and other members of the family are doing everything they can to make sure her son gets the help he needs and reel in his comments before more damage is done to the family legacy,' it concluded. The Daily Mail has contacted the Megyn Kelly Show for comment regarding Schlossberg's latest salvo. In January, the former Fox New host expressed confusion in an X post over a video Schlossberg posted mocking his uncle RFK Jr's spasmodic dysphonia. Schlossberg responded by taking aim at Kelly after criticizing her stance on transgender issues. 'Megyn Kelly can no longer play in female sports. You're welcome,' he posted on X. When Daily Mail columnist Maureen Callahan reported on the tirade, Schlossberg rhymed her first name with a slang word for female genitalia. 'Sorry for the delayed response Maureen V****n! Just seeing your message now. You can see my response on instagram,' he wrote, directing her to a series of posts where he told both her and Kelly to 'eat sh*t'. 'Btw — I've apologized to my mom as well as everyone else. I feel terrible about my behavior. You really held up a mirror. Thanks, V****n!' added. The next day, he deleted both his X and Instagram accounts before resurfacing a little over a week later. Posts since have been riddled with Schlossberg's usual sarcasm, often at the expense of Republicans and even his fellow Democrats. In his Tuesday post, he took a shot at Democratic New York Mayoral primary loser Andrew Cuomo, weeks after endorsing eventual winner Zorhan Mamdani. 'Oh and hey Andrew Cuomo stop planting stories about me in the press,' he wrote without elaborating. In recent weeks, Schlossberg repeatedly took aim at publications like the New York Post for propping up Cuomo as their preferred candidate.
