Inside The New Ritz-Carlton Superyacht That Took Kendall Jenner And Tom Brady For A Ride

It's fitting that the Ritz-Carlton's newest superyacht, Luminara, is named after the Latin word for 'light,' seeing as how the ship's maiden voyage was graced by Kendall Jenner, Naomi Campbell, Orlando Bloom and some of the entertainment world's other brightest names.
The boat's godmother, Bridgerton star Simone Ashley, christened the ship on June 26 with the customary champagne bottle broken across the bow. It marked the start of the inaugural season for Luminara, The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection's third ship since launching Four-Star Evrima in 2022.

The celebration continued a few days later as the yacht sailed from Rome to Malta, where the aforementioned stars joined Tom Brady, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Tessa Thompson for the high seas festivities. During the two-day cruise, Martha Stewart hosted a sunset aperitif, Janelle Monáe lit up a DJ set, Sting gave a surprise performance and a drone show illuminated the Sicilian coastline, providing endless fodder for what felt like every A-lister's Instagram Stories feed.
As the yacht departed from Monte Carlo for its first official itinerary on July 3, one thing proved clear — the glitzy opening celebration and the ship's ultra-glamorous digs are a natural fit. The 794-foot liner, the biggest in The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection's fleet, accommodates 452 passengers in 226 suites. The cabins rival many hotel rooms on land, with a personal terrace, integrated lighting, floor-to-ceiling windows, dark oak walls, Emperador marble-clad bathrooms and a dedicated butler on call 24/7.

While design firm AD Associates is responsible for the suites' swankiness, Chapi Design Luxury Division oversaw the ship's equally stunning public spaces. The interiors feature neutral color palettes, ample blond wood and airy fabrics, creating an atmosphere of effortless elegance. This aesthetic is reminiscent of what the designers did with Luminara's predecessor, Ilma.
The five onboard restaurants could not be further from the rudimentary buffets found elsewhere on the high seas. Following the success that star chefs Michael Mina and Fabio Trabocchi had onboard Ilma, the Ritz-Carlton wisely tasked the two with re-creating culinary magic aboard Luminara. Mina's Egyptian heritage inspires the alfresco Beach House while Trabocchi offers an elevated eight-course Italian tasting menu at Seta su Luminara.
Mistral brings Mediterranean flavors to Luminara. Edgardo Contreras
The culinary collection also includes Haesu Bit, which features elevated Asian cuisine; Mistral, an eatery influenced by Mediterranean coastal flavors; and Azur on Luminara, which delivers a destination-driven menu. The overall effect on the vessel is that of a trendy West Hollywood neighborhood where, no matter which establishment you choose, you're destined for a memorable meal. And if you need a drink, choose from seven bars or the wine vault.
Outside of dining and drinking, passengers will find even more extravagance in the superyacht. The onboard art collection rivals any museum, with more than 730 pieces by contemporary icons such as David Hockney, Alexander Calder, Henri Matisse and Andy Warhol. Many of the works play with the light theme. A full-service Ritz-Carlton Spa provides destination-inspired treatments using products from ESPA, 111SKIN and Pisterzi. And like the brand's hotels, a Ritz Kids club will keep little ones occupied while you get pampered at the spa.

A floating lounge platform, complete with a pool, allows guests to swim in the ocean and make use of kayaks, paddleboards, electric foiling boards and other essential equipment for some fun in the sun. Along with exclusive outlets from Cartier and Piaget, an exceptionally curated boutique will feature brands such as Hermès, Chanel and Johanna Ortiz.
The yacht's itineraries are no less glamorous. Following its inaugural season in the Mediterranean (with stops in Cannes, Livorno and Portofino), Luminara will start sailing in December across the Asia-Pacific region, a first for the fleet, to destinations such as Ha Long Bay, Vietnam; Osaka; and Bangkok. Next summer will be spent exploring the outer reaches of Alaska and Canada in search of glaciers and wildlife, another first on The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection's bright horizon. 100ml liquid restriction set to be scrapped across European airports – but there's a catch

Airports across the European Union (EU) are finally set to scrap the 100ml liquid restrictions for passengers – but there's a catch. The constraint was due to be scrapped last summer, but a European Commission (EC) ruling kept it in place temporarily. Now, aviation hubs with advanced scanners will allow passengers to carry wine, olive oil, perfume and other liquids in containers of up to two litres. Participating airports include travel hotspots such as Berlin, Rome, Amsterdam and Milan, with more expected to follow. While many major airports already have the advanced scanners, not all do, including London's Heathrow. It would cost the airport £1.04bn to install the equipment. There will be no mandatory requirement for airports to implement the new technology and it will be the decision of individual facilities to purchase the scanners. Consequently, the new ruling could cause confusion for passengers departing from an airport with the scanners, but returning home via an airport without them. In this instance, only 100ml would be allowed in the hand luggage on the return flight. The scanners use computed tomography (CT) to scan luggage with increased accuracy. Their introduction also means passengers will no longer have to remove other items from cabin baggage, such as laptops and tablets, further streamlining the security process. The major change was first reported by Italian news outlet Corriere della Sera and confirmed by the European Commission, with the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) set to green light the move imminently. European Commission spokesperson Anna-Kaisa Itkonen told The Independent that they were expecting the ruling to be confirmed 'in the next [few] days.' 'Once individual manufacturer's airport equipment passes tests and gets ECAC approval, it can receive the EU Stamp, permitting the screening of liquids of larger than 100ml. 'After receiving this approval, the equipment may be deployed for use at airports.' The Independent has approached the ECAC for comment. The news mirrors the recent decision by Birmingham and Edinburgh airports to remove the 100ml liquid restriction, while other UK airports still enforce the limit. Under existing rules, hand luggage liquids must be packed in containers carrying no more than 100ml, with some exceptions for baby products and medicines. Travellers are being advised to check the current rules from both their departing and return airports before travelling.

A TikTok viral sunset lamp because it kinda looks like a James Turrell wall sculpture, and the best part is that it only costs about $15. While Kendall Jenner dropped $750,000 on one for her home, 😳 you can add the same vibe to your living room, office, or bedroom for super cheap! An Angry Orange stain remover if your carpet has some lingering smells, and you've gotten used to them — but you don't have to live with that. An "After Coffee" notepad for list-makers, meal planners, and anyone who needs a little structure with their caffeine. Now you don't have to worry about forking over more money (for that big overweight bag fee) or ripping open your suitcase in front of everyone — with this, you can avoid both! A false eyelash applicator aka a game changer for anyone who struggles with lash glue, wobbly placement, or fear of poking themselves in the eye. It'll make applying, adjusting, and removing false lashes way easier and more precise. An auto-shutoff outlet so you don't have that "I turned off my curling iron, right? ... RIGHT?" moment again. Reviewers say that it heats up quickly and recommend using a flat-bottomed mug so you get a steamin' hot cup of joe even faster! Dishwasher-cleaning tablets because they clean what you can't reach easily (or at all), like your machine's tub, racks, pump and valve, and drain. Instead of tossing unused cilantro, parsley, or basil, just pack them into this, twist the handle to compress, and freeze. When you're ready to use them, pop off the cap and slice or grate the herbs straight into your dish using the built-in grater (which tucks neatly into the handle for easy storage). A weekly, bleach-free shower spray because it's a shower spray that'll eliminate the need to scrub — say what?! You can install these to avoid that frustration and cut them to fit any space perfectly — plus, they can be removed without leaving behind any residue, washed, and stuck back in place without losing their stickiness or causing damage. It easily sticks to doors and is perfect for uneven door gaps, basements, and garages. An exfoliating scrub mitt that'll leave you shocked with how much dead skin comes off your body. Not only will you feel squeaky clean stepping out of the shower, but your skin will feel so soft and smooth, too. Reviewers say this also helps prevent ingrown hairs and reduces keratosis pilaris. A weighted bottle cleaner your emotional support water bottle needed like... yesterday. Just drop it in, shake it around, and boom — it scrubs every inch of the inside without you having to jam your hand in there or use suspect brushes. It's weighted, so it sinks to the bottom and actually cleans, and the rubber around the weight makes it safe for all your fave bottles (yes, even your expensive Stanley). An EZ Off jar opener to make struggling with jars of pasta sauce, salsa, peanut butter, or even stubborn Talenti gelato a thing of the past. No more turning jar-opening into a team sport or breaking a sweat trying to twist one off. This hidden little gadget pops lids open with way less wrist strain, takes up zero drawer space, and stays totally out of sight. It's your kitchen's best-kept secret for battling sealed-tight lids. A milk frother so you can make your hot or iced latte so thick and frothy you'll feel like you're sipping on an overpriced one from a trendy coffee shop. This is not only cheaper than the Nespresso Aeroccino, but it's smaller and easier to clean up, too. A double-sided electronics cleaning brush with a soft, retractable brush for gently sweeping dust off keyboards, camera lenses, and screens *and* a silicone wiper that digs into crevices to grab crumbs and gunk hiding in your laptop, phone ports, or AirPods case. Your tech will now look ✨pristine. ✨ A pair of horizontal glasses, the ultimate lazy genius invention for anyone who wants to read or watch TV while lying completely flat. These quirky 90° angle glasses use mirrors to let you see you forward while your head stays back, meaning you'll be less likely to strain your neck as you chill in bed. A wine stain-removing spray because we've all been there — one sip of Pinot turns into a little too much fun, and next thing you know, red wine is everywhere. No worries! This stain remover has your back. Just spray it on, blot, rinse, and watch the stain disappear. Now, you can keep the good vibes going without stressing over spills. A silicone microwave popper that'll help you make your delicious movie snack at home within minutes. It's collapsible, requires no oil, and evenly distributes hot air so every kernel gets *popped*. It's dishwasher safe so it's super easy to clean and it's BPA free, too! An angled pen with a curved barrel designed specifically for lefties. This ballpoint beauty lets you actually see what you're writing without twisting your wrist or causing a bunch of smudging. The grips feel comfy and the quick-dry ink keeps your notes looking nice and clean. Bed bands to keep your fitted sheet perfectly tucked 'cause it's soooo annoying when it pops up when you're dead asleep. Now you won't have to readjust that one corner up against the wall every morning... Just flip up the corner of your mattress, attach one end of the band to your fitted sheet, stretch it diagonally and clasp it to the opposite side. Repeat that four times and then admire your handiwork! A bracelet helper tool to make attaching your lobster clasp accessory super easy. It'll finally end the daily struggle of clasping a bracelet with one hand while swearing under your breath. It holds one end of your bracelet securely so you can fasten the clasp like the solo style icon you are. No roommates, no partners, and no third arm required. 🙏

From Aristocracy to Authenticity: Cook with a Real Duchess at Butera 28 Apartments in Palermo

'Cooking together is a way of preserving our history. Every dish tells a story, not just of Sicily, but of our family's place in it.'— Duchess Nicoletta Lanza Tomasi PALERMO, ITALY, July 27, 2025 / / -- In an age of curated experiences and instant itineraries, Butera 28 Apartments offers something deeply personal and genuinely Sicilian: cooking with a real Duchess inside a historic palazzo. Tucked within the storied walls of Palazzo Lanza Tomasi, Butera 28 Apartments invites guests to share in the traditions of Italian nobility - beginning in the kitchen. Duchess Nicoletta Lanza Tomasi opens her private kitchen to residents for hands-on cooking classes rooted in family heritage and local ingredients. From Market to Table The experience begins with a walk through one of Palermo's vibrant street markets, Il Capo. Alongside the Duchess herself, guests learn to choose the freshest seasonal produce, seafood, and local specialities - from fragrant wild fennel to sun-ripened tomatoes and salted ricotta. Back at the palazzo's 18th-century kitchen, participants learn to prepare a selection of traditional dishes, including trapanese pesto, swordfish rolls, biancomangiare, pistachio pesto, or handmade panelle. The classes are relaxed, engaging, and rich with family stories. 'Cooking together is a way of preserving our history,' says the Duchess. 'Every dish tells a story, not just of Sicily, but of our family's place in it.' The meal culminates with a shared lunch or dinner in the palazzo's grand dining room, complete with wine pairings and views of the Tyrrhenian Sea. These classes offer a full-circle culinary immersion - both intimate and indulgent. After lunch, the experience concludes with a private tour of the historic Palazzo, offering a glimpse into the legacy of Prince Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, the celebrated author of The Leopard (Il Gattopardo). A Cultural Feast Butera 28 Apartments is more than just a place to stay. It is part of one of Palermo's most historic and culturally significant buildings. The Palazzo Lanza Tomasi is the last home of Prince Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, the author of the internationally acclaimed novel Il Gattopardo (The Leopard). Published posthumously in 1958 and later adapted into a film starring Burt Lancaster and Claudia Cardinale, The Leopard tells the story of an aristocratic family's decline during the Risorgimento. It remains a touchstone of modern Italian literature. In 2025, the novel found renewed relevance through a Netflix original series based on the book, drawing international attention to Lampedusa's life and legacy. Visitors to Butera 28 Apartments have the rare opportunity to see Lampedusa's original manuscript on display within the palazzo's private museum - an intimate experience for literature lovers and scholars alike. The museum, curated by the Duke and Duchess of Palma, also houses first editions, family portraits, and artefacts that bring the era of The Leopard vividly to life. Living Heritage for Today's Traveller According to the Italian Ministry of Culture, interest in literary tourism has grown by 39% since 2021, and heritage-based travel now ranks among the top five motivations for visiting Sicily. Meanwhile, food-focused travel remains one of the region's strongest draws, with over 70% of international visitors citing gastronomy as a key reason for their trip. Palermo itself is also experiencing a renaissance. With over 300 days of sunshine annually and average winter temperatures above 15°C, the city has become one of Europe's top emerging destinations for remote workers and digital nomads. A 2025 study by the Mediterranean Institute for Urban Innovation found that long-stay visitor numbers in Palermo grew by 81% between 2021 and 2024 - driven by an influx of creatives, freelancers, and entrepreneurs seeking connection, culture, and quality of life. Butera 28 Apartments masterfully combines all of these experiences. Guests are not just observers - they participate in the rhythms of Sicilian life, from market to table, and from story to setting. Whether you're a seasoned cook, a literary enthusiast, or a cultural traveller in search of meaning, A Day Cooking with the Duchess offers a rare and unforgettable experience. It is personal, profound, and grounded in the lived legacy of a noble Sicilian family. Book your stay and culinary experience at to discover the soul of Palermo from inside its most historic walls.
