Felda sets new benchmark with modern, eco-conscious qurban ritual
Led by Felda Waqaf chief executive officer Hisyam Ahmad, this year's programme saw the sacrifice of 19 cattle. Seven were slaughtered manually at Dewan Perdana Felda while another 12 via machine-assisted methods at the Shah Alam Veterinary Abattoir.
Cold-chain logistics, including the use of refrigerated trucks, ensured the meat remained fresh and hygienic throughout distribution, a move Hisyam said enhances food safety and supports the programme's scalability.
'This not only saves time but ensures the meat reaches recipients in clean and fresh condition,' he said during the event held at Dewan Perdana Felda, here today.
Also present at the event was Felda chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
Hisyam said the initiative also went fully digital this year, with all announcements, wakalah confirmations, invoicing and qurban e-certificates issued online.
'With the improvements made, we believe that Qurban Berkat 2025 programme will serve as a benchmark for systematic, professional and inclusive implementation of the qurban ritual,' he said.
Beyond operational upgrades, Hisyam noted that the programme also reflects unity and compassion across the Felda Group, with participation from 14 subsidiaries, cooperatives and surau.
He expressed gratitude to donors and participants, volunteers and staff, as well as livestock suppliers from the Chuping Livestock Integration Centre (PITC) for their support and high-quality cattle.
'This programme is not only a religious obligation, but a symbol of community care and a reminder that even during difficult economic periods the spirit of sacrifice endures,' he said.

FGV's shares are expected to be suspended from trading five market days after the offer for all remaining shares closes on Aug 15.

Settlers to benefit from Felda's majority stake in FGV, says Zahid
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on July 29, FGV announced that Felda has acquired 91.73% of its total issued shares. KUALA LUMPUR : The Federal Land Development Authority's (Felda) acquisition of a majority stake in FGV Holdings Bhd (FGV) will pave the way for full ownership and restructuring of the company, and Felda settlers will stand to benefit from the profits, says deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Speaking to reporters after attending the Felda settlers' appreciation ceremony here today, he noted that the Pahang and Sabah governments have also become shareholders in FGV following the company's delisting from Bursa Malaysia. He said the full acquisition process will be finalised by Bursa Malaysia, and the profits thereof will be channelled to the settlers. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on July 29, FGV announced that Felda has acquired 91.73% of its total issued shares. The offer of RM1.30 per share 'will remain open' until 5pm on Aug 15. Felda urged shareholders who have not accepted the offer to do so before the deadline. FGV's shares are expected to be suspended from trading five market days after the offer closes.

RM100,000 for each Felda village for project of their choice

(Bernama pic) KUALA LUMPUR : Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced an allocation of RM100,000 for each village under the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) to implement development projects of their choice. He said the approach of allowing villagers to choose their preferred projects is in line with the government's aspiration, which emphasises consultation and community empowerment. 'I have prepared the allocation, with each Felda village receiving RM100,000 to decide which project they want to implement. 'This is not Felda management deciding what project to undertake. Want to buy a tractor? Build a fish pond? Purchase a drone? You decide what you want; I'm providing RM100,000 for each village,' he said when launching the 2025 Mega 3D Carnival at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre here today. Also present were deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, communications minister Fahmi Fadzil and Felda chairman Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
