Two of L.A.'s best bars were just named among the best in North America
This year, however, Mírate has jumped significantly in the ranking, coming in at 12th across the continent after debuting on last year's list at number 46. The World's 50 Best Restaurants organization, which also decides the annual North America's 50 Best Bars list, also awarded Mírate the Nikka Highest Climber Award and named the Los Feliz restaurant and bar the 'Best Bar in the West.'
Conversely, Thunderbolt has fallen out of its top 10 ranking at number 8 to number 24—but don't worry, we still love you Thunderbolt. The organizations touts the bar's open patio and 'bright and breezy' feel, but also shouts out the drinks program as 'boundary-pushing' in a way that weaves community, philanthropy and sustainability. As such, the Historic Filipinotown bar also earned the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award 2025.
In the last year, both Capoferri and Reis have been busy working on other new concepts around town. Last December, Capoferri opened Night on Earth, a futuristic cyberpunk-themed cocktail bar in the Cahuenga Pass. The Valley bar easily nabbed the top spot on our best new bars list for its flavorful riffs on classics, including a clarified take on a porn star martini and an old-fashioned laced with the unmistakeable, nostalgic flavor of movie theater butter.
Earlier this month, Reis and the rest of the team behind Mírate opened Daisy Margarita Bar, a restaurant in Sherman Oaks that offers clever twists on the crowd-pleasing tequila-based drink. Soon, Reis will debut another concept on the second floor of the Daisy space. Known as the Gilbert Perez Bar, the rum-focused tropical cocktail experience draws inspiration from the folk legend of Gil Perez, a 16th-century Spanish soldier who was mysteriously transported from Manila to Mexico City.
Mírate and Thunderbolt weren't the only L.A. bars to get recognition from the World's 50 Best Restaurants organization. Two weeks ago, West Hollywood's Bar Next Door also nabbed a spot on the full North America list, which extended the ranking to the continent's top 100.

DJ dies ‘after being beaten by cops' at Ibiza party when police were ‘called ove
A popular Italian DJ who performed around the world died after allegedly being beaten by cops at a house party. Michele Noschese, known as DJ Godzi, was just 35 when he was 'assaulted' by cops at his home during a late-night party in Ibiza. The Italian DJ had been living in Ibiza for the last 10 years and was well-known on the island, performing frequently at music events in London, Paris, Barcelona, and New York. He died Saturday morning, and Spanish authorities are investigating his death, which was announced by numerous friends and online electronic music pages. Michele was reportedly holding a party at his home when neighbours called the Civil Guard over the loud noise. The DJ clashed with several officers and was allegedly beaten, according to several witnesses, before his body was taken to the morgue. The authorities are waiting for the post-mortem results to establish his exact cause of death. Michele's family has reportedly requested an independent forensic medical report, and Italian politicians are demanding answers. Fulvio Martusciello, MEP for the Forza Italia political party, said: 'We want to know the truth about Michele Noschese's death. 'We want to understand what happened and what the Civil Guard's responsibility is. The sudden death of a young, successful and well-liked Neapolitan, an internationally renowned DJ, cannot remain in the shadows.' Techno-house music label Moon Child shared photos of Michele and wrote: 'We are truly saddened by this news. Michele had a kind heart and was part of the Mood family after releasing his track 'Love This Game' on Mood Edits.' Michele previously said his passion for music began when he was just 15, and he went to live in London before later moving to Ibiza. 'I tell any young DJ to work hard from morning to night in front of the PC to compose electronic music,' he said. His death came on the heels of other recent deaths in Ibiza. More Trending Brit Gary Kelly, 19, died in a fall from the third floor of Ibiza Rocks Hotel in San Antonio in the early hours of Monday morning, according to police. Ibiza Rocks in Spain has suspended its events after a teenager became the third British tourist to die there this year. Gary's death came after Evan Thomson, 26, from Aberdeen, fell and died at the same three-star hotel at a belated birthday celebration on July 7. "When you can't speak to people for a couple of weeks and have to watch them on telly every night, you want some answers." But although some fans were happy for the return of two OGs, many others were fuming and vowed to complain to Ofcom. Love Island fans 'work out' the THIRD star to be dumped after cruel twist as they claim girl is doomed "Producers are ****s, they bring Megan back now that Shakira + Conor are happy + now I've seen that they've put the clip of Shakira + Toni talking about meg + demon in the grafties? A third penned: "@itv bringing back meg over alima is disgraceful. And I will be complaining to ofcom. Love Island's biggest Ofcom complaints Love Island has been hit with thousands of complaints over the years - here are the most moaned about moments Dani's tears: In 2018, Ofcom received 2,644 complaints when Dani Dyer was left in floods of tears over Jack Fincham during the Casa Amor. Viewers felt the show had been manipulated to make it appear Jack was going to cheat, when in fact he wasn't. And poor Dani didn't learn the truth for days. Maura fury: Although she later won over the public, Maura Higgins got off to a bad start in 2019. After arriving as a bombshell, she made a beeline for Tommy Fury - who was coupled up with Molly-Mae Hague - and tried to kiss him while straddling him on a daybed. 709 people accused her actions of being 'sexual harassment'. Faye explodes: The 2021 series of Love Island remains the most complained series about yet. 4,330 complaints were made to Ofcom after Faye Winter received a postcard from Casa Amor, which appeared to show her fella Teddy Soares kissing a bombshell. But a whopping 24,763 complaints flooded in when Faye came face-to-face with Teddy again. Faye's shocking outburst even sparked a reaction from male domestic abuse charity, ManKind Initiative, who branded her 'unacceptable'. Bish bash: The following year, the fallout from Movie Night sparked 3,617 Ofcom complaints. Fans of the show were horrified by Luca Bish's harsh reaction when Gemma Owen was shown speaking to bombshell Billy Brown. Muggy Mitch: Almost 1,000 Ofcom complaints flooded in from viewers unimpressed with Mitchel Taylor's treatment of Abi Moores. They felt he was 'targeting' her and even urged Love Island bosses to check on Abi's 'mental health and welfare'. "Megan recieved the lowest amount of votes. Alimas was never voted out by the public but by somone stealing her man. "S10 molly was kicked out the same way and eventually brought back." A fourth then said: "Everyone needs to complain to ofcom after that episode!!!!!!!" While a fifth added: "I'm actually gonna file an ofcom complaint cause how can they disregard our votes like that? "Megan literally had the lowest votes for favourite girl FOR A REASON."

The public previously turned on Megan after she dumped Tommy for Conor in her final few days. Now, since Megan's villa exit, Shakira and Conor have grown close. And angry fans have accused bosses of bringing Megan back to jeopardise the romantic connection that Shakira and Conor currently have. One person wrote: 'At this point LI is bullying Shakira… the girl has been going through it, soon as she has a little high they help bring her back down.' A second penned: 'Production clearly has it out for Shakira,' and a third echoed: 'At this point, just say you don't want Shakira to win.' Fans have speculated that Meg's return is all part of a game plan to stop Shakira from winning, by disrupting what she has with Conor. And they also think show bosses are pushing for either Meg or Helena to win the show. And some fans have taken to X to say they've complained to Ofcom about Megan's return as a result, adding 'we voted her off for a reason.' Love Island fans 'work out' the THIRD star to be dumped after cruel twist as they claim girl is doomed One person penned: 'Filed an OFCOM complaint against love island, this show deserves to be cancelled. I'm soooo serious!!!' Someone else penned: 'Submitting my first OFCOM complaint now that they've bought Meg back.' A third echoed: 'Production doing everything to stand in Shakira's way. Filing an IPSO.' Megan said before heading back to Love Island: "I'm excited to go back in, I think I left quite abruptly and I'm going back in for some clarity. "It was an easy decision to make. When you can't speak to people for a couple of weeks and have to watch them on telly every night, you want some answers." The announcement came shortly after Maya Jama returned to dump a couple from the island. Islanders were ordered to line up in their couples as Maya announced the results of the latest public vote for their favourite boy and girl. Maya revealed the bottom three girls were Billykiss, Emma, and Angel and the bottom three boys were Boris, Conor, and Harry. With the fewest votes, Emma and Boris were dumped from the island, ending Casa Amor's most talked-about comeback and Love Island's biggest love triangle. Both Emma and Boris had entered the villa as Casa Amor bombshells.
